2005년 주요 농작물 병해 발생개황 (Review of Disease Incidences of Major Crops of the South Korea in 2005)

  • 2005년은 전년에 비해 기온이 낮았고 강수량이 적었다. 벼 흰잎마름병, 세균성벼알마름병, 벼 깨씨무늬병, 벼 이삭도열병, 배나무 겹무늬병 등이 2004년에 비해 증가하였다. 특히 벼 깨씨무늬병은 전년에 비해 4배 이상 병 발생이 증가하였다. 벼 이삭도열병이 전년 0.7%에서 2005년 2%로 증가된 것은 출수기 동안 평균기온은 높았고 강수일수, 강수량 및 습도가 높아 잎도열병균이 이삭으로의 전파를 촉진한 것으로 추정되었다. 기타 조사된 병들은 전년에 비해 감소 혹은 유사한 수준이었다. 벼 잎도열병, 시설참외 시들음증상, 흰가루병 및 노균병은 전년에 비해 크게 감소되었다.

한국인의 총당류 섭취실태와 급원식품에 대한 연구 -2001년과 2002년도 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여- (Dietary Intakes and Food Sources of Total Sugars from Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2001-2002)

  • This study aimed to assess the total sugar intake for Korean and to identify major food sources contributing to those food components. Korean adults aged over 20 years old from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2001 and 2002 were selected. The data were analyzed to obtain nationally and seasonally representative information on the health and nutritional status of the Korean. Forty food groups were used in identifying food sources of total sugar and energy intake. Total sugar contents of foods in the KNHANES data sets were estimated by food code matching technique with Release 18 of the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. Sample weighted means, standard errors, and population percentages were calculated using SAS and SUDAAN. The mean total sugar intake of the Korean was 60.3g in 2001, 40.9g in spring 2002, 45.7g in summer 2002, and 52.1g in fall 2002, which were 30-44% of intake of US people. Fresh fruit was identified as the most significant food source for total sugar intake in Korean population in all age groups and all seasons. The next major food sources following fresh fruits were candy/jelly/syrup/honey, coffee/coffee caream, vegetables, Kimchi, soft drinks, milk, fruit juice, cookie/cracker/cake, and vegetable juice/grain juice, which showed similar results through the seasons. While carbonated soft drink was the most significant food sources for total sugar or added sugar intakes for US people. The total sugar intakes were significantly higher in women, higher educational level, and residing in metropolitan area. As intake of total sugar increased, intakes of protein, fiber, calcium, phosphorus, iron, Vit A, B1, B2, C, niacin showed significantly increased, while high intakes of added sugars showed low intakes of some micronutrients in the US people. Percentages of people who consumed nutrients below EAR were less in higher total sugar intake group than in lower intake group. From these results, we can conclude that the food consumption habits including the total sugar intake of Korean people seems relatively good so far. More reliable database of total sugar and added sugar composition tables in public domain should be established in the future, and also more researches about total sugar and added sugar for Koreans should be continued.

울산단층대의 단층활동에 수반된 열수변질작용시기 (Timing of the Hydrothermal Alteration Associated with the Fault Activities along the Ulsan Fault Bone, Southeast Korea)

  • 단층비지의 주성분인 점토광물은 K-Ar 연대측정법으로 단층활동 시기를 구하는데 이용되어 왔다. 이 논문은 울산 단층대의 주요 단층활동에 수반된 열수변질작용 시기를 연구하기 위하여 단층비지 세 시료를 각각 5-2 $\mu$m , 2-1 $\mu$m, 1-0.35 $\mu$m, 0.35-0.05 $\mu$m 입자 크기로 분리하여 각각의 시료에 대해 X선 회절분석과 K-Ar 연대측정을 하였다. 연구결과 단층비지는 석영, 장석류로 구성되며, 점토광물은 스멕타이트, 일라이트, 녹니석, 카올리나이트가 확인된다. 운모점토광물의 일라이트 곁정도지수는 작은 입자 크기에서 큰 값(0.58-1.08)을 보이고 저온에서 안정한 일라이트(IM)가 우세하게 나타내는 것으로 보아 열수변질작용을 수반한 단층활동 동안에 생성된 운모점토광물이 작은 입자 크기에 농집되었을 가능성이 높음을 시사한다. 각 시료의 K-Ar 연령은 46-35 Ma(330-2), 45-39 Ma(16Ww) 및 32-15 Ma(102Ws)이며, 작은 입자 크기로 갈수록 연대값이 젊어진다. 이 결과는 울산단층대의 주요 단층활동에 수반된 열수변질작용이 39-35 Ma와 15 Ma에 있었던 것으로 나타난다.

초등학생 저학년 돌봄교실의 건강식생활 교육프로그램 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of an Education Program for Healthy Dietary Life for Elementary School Aftercare Class Children)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to develop a school-centered healthy eating environment for children in elementary care classrooms and prevent incorrect eating habits and obesity through the development and application of standardized healthy eating habit-forming educational materials. Methods: Ten schools in eight districts of Gyeonggi-do and 400 students from 19 care classes were selected. Based on the developed educational materials, the program was applied to students once in two weeks. 'Notices for Parents' forms were also sent to the students' home to educate their parents. Pre and post-surveys were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the education. The pre-education, education, and aftercare were conducted from September 28 to September 31, 2016, from October 3 to November 30, 2016, and from December 5 to December 9, 2016, respectively. Results: The healthy eating program for elementary care classes was designed to develop a school-centered healthy eating environment and provide standardized educational material for healthy eating habits. Twelve educational topics were developed: , , , , , , , , , , , and . Moreover, the materials were produced in four forms: for students, for after school caring teachers, for external specialists, and for parents. The effectiveness evaluation was conducted to confirm the application of the program. The average eating habits score was 3.3 ± 0.6, with no significant difference between before and after application. The score of overall satisfaction of the education was 3.9 ± 0.9. The most satisfying content was 'Did you get to know how to eat evenly?'. Significant increases were observed in two contents for parents regarding their children's knowledge changes after the education: 'Five nutrients needed for growing children' and 'Knowing sugar foods and sugar-containing foods'. On the other hand, their educational satisfaction was 3.6 ± 0.6, which was lower than the children's satisfaction. This might be because their education was conducted only through the 'Notices for Parents' form. Conclusions: In the long term, the healthy eating habit-formation education for lower elementary school children is expected to be beneficial. To prevent obesity and establish healthy eating habits of children, it is important to develop healthy eating education programs centered on elementary school aftercare classes, including the development of educational materials and an application system through connection with the home and community.

성별과 연령에 따른 친환경 유기농 식품에 대한 인식도, 선호도, 외식이용현황조사 - 대구 수성구지역 성인대상으로 - (Study on Awareness and Preferences in Adults regarding Consumption of Environmentally friendly Organic Food while eating-out according to Gender and Age - Focused on Adults in Su-seong Area in Daegu -)

  • This study conducted a survey to analyze awareness, preferences, and the current state of consuming environmentally friendly organic food while eating-out in 435 adults aged 20 and above in Daegu, Korea. Most subjects (95%) showed awareness of environmentally friendly organic food, and 88.5% of subjects answered environmentally friendly organic food is 'needed'. The percentage of eating out for families was 58.9%, and 49.0% of subjects said they eat out one to three times per month on average. In addition, subjects preferred a price range between 10,000 and 20,000 won per person when eating out, and they mostly favored Korean restaurants when ordering environmentally friendly organic food. Analysis of awareness of environmentally friendly organic food showed that among 'health' factors, 'environmental' factors, 'social' factors, and 'dietary essential' factors, 'health' factors showed the highest percentage for awareness. A survey on preferred foods by gender showed that both genders preferred vegetables the most. The results show that subjects in their 20s and 30s favored vegetables and fruits while subjects in their 40s preferred vegetables and grain animal products. Analysis of preferred types of environmentally friendly organic foods showed that men preferred polished rice while women preferred brown rice. Subjects in their 20s and 30s preferred strawberries, whereas those in their 40s preferred cherry tomatoes and those in their 50s and above favored tomatoes (p<0.001). Among root and tuber crops (63.4%), sweet potato was the most preferred. Among fruits, subjects preferred apples while among special crops, they most preferred oyster mushrooms; both genders preferred Korean beef. The most preferred livestock product of subjects in their 20s was pork, whereas subjects in their 30s preferred Korean beef. Subjects in their 40s preferred Korean beef and pork in the same proportions, whereas subjects in their 50s and above favored eggs the most.

작물학 분야 프로테오믹스의 응용과 전망 (Application and perspectives of proteomics in crop science fields)

  • Thanks to spectacular advances in the techniques for identifying proteins separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis and in methods for large-scale analysis of proteome variations, proteomics is becoming an essential methodology in various fields of plant sciences. Plant proteomics would be most useful when combined with other functional genomics tools and approaches. A combination of microarray and proteomics analysis will indicate whether gene regulation is controlled at the level of transcription or translation and protein accumulation. In this review, we described the catalogues of the rice proteome which were constructed in our program, and functional characterization of some of these proteins was discussed. Mass-spectrometry is a most prevalent technique to identify rapidly a large of proteins in proteome analysis. However, the conventional Western blotting/sequencing technique us still used in many laboratories. As a first step to efficiently construct protein data-file in proteome analysis of major cereals, we have analyzed the N-terminal sequences of 100 rice embryo proteins and 70 wheat spike proteins separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis. Edman degradation revealed the N-terminal peptide sequences of only 31 rice proteins and 47 wheat proteins, suggesting that the rest of separated protein spots are N-terminally blocked. To efficiently determine the internal sequence of blocked proteins, we have developed a modified Cleveland peptide mapping method. Using this above method, the internal sequences of all blocked rice proteins (i. e., 69 proteins) were determined. Among these 100 rice proteins, thirty were proteins for which homologous sequence in the rice genome database could be identified. However, the rest of the proteins lacked homologous proteins. This appears to be consistent with the fact that about 30% of total rice cDNA have been deposited in the database. Also, the major proteins involved in the growth and development of rice can be identified using the proteome approach. Some of these proteins, including a calcium-binding protein that fumed out to be calreticulin, gibberellin-binding protein, which is ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase activate in rice, and leginsulin-binding protein in soybean have functions in the signal transduction pathway. Proteomics is well suited not only to determine interaction between pairs of proteins, but also to identify multisubunit complexes. Currently, a protein-protein interaction database for plant proteins (http://genome .c .kanazawa-u.ac.jp/Y2H)could be a very useful tool for the plant research community. Recently, we are separated proteins from grain filling and seed maturation in rice to perform ESI-Q-TOF/MS and MALDI-TOF/MS. This experiment shows a possibility to easily and rapidly identify a number of 2-DE separated proteins of rice by ESI-Q-TOF/MS and MALDI-TOF/MS. Therefore, the Information thus obtained from the plant proteome would be helpful in predicting the function of the unknown proteins and would be useful in the plant molecular breeding. Also, information from our study could provide a venue to plant breeder and molecular biologist to design their research strategies precisely.

Present Status and Future Management Strategies for Sugarcane Yellow Leaf Virus: A Major Constraint to the Global Sugarcane Production

  • Sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) is a distinct member of the Polerovirus genus of the Luteoviridae family. SCYLV is the major limitation to sugarcane production worldwide and presently occurring in most of the sugarcane growing countries. SCYLV having high genetic diversity within the species and presently ten genotypes are known to occur based on the complete genome sequence information. SCYLV is present in almost all the states of India where sugarcane is grown. Virion comprises of 180 coat protein units and are 24-29 nm in diameter. The genome of SCYLV is a monopartite and comprised of single-stranded (ss) positive-sense (+) linear RNA of about 6 kb in size. Virus genome consists of six open reading frames (ORFs) that are expressed by sub-genomic RNAs. The SCYLV is phloem-limited and transmitted by sugarcane aphid Melanaphis sacchari in a circulative and non-propagative manner. The other aphid species namely, Ceratovacuna lanigera, Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominalis, and R. maidis also been reported to transmit the virus. The virus is not transmitted mechanically, therefore, its transmission by M. sacchari has been studied in different countries. SCYLV has a limited natural host range and mainly infect sugarcane (Sachharum hybrid), grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), and Columbus grass (Sorghum almum). Recent insights in the protein-protein interactions of Polerovirus through protein interaction reporter (PIR) technology enable us to understand viral encoded proteins during virus replication, assembly, plant defence mechanism, short and long-distance travel of the virus. This review presents the recent understandings on virus biology, diagnosis, genetic diversity, virus-vector and host-virus interactions and conventional and next generation management approaches.

MgO 첨가에 따른 La0.7Sr0.3-xMgxMnO3 세라믹스의 구조적, 전기적 특성 (Structural and Electrical Properties of La0.7Sr0.3-xMgxMnO3 Ceramics with MgO Content)

  • La0.7Sr0.3-xMgxMnO3 (LSMMO) (x=0.05~0.20) specimens are fabricated by a solid phase sintering method, and the sintering temperature and time are 1,300℃ and 2 hours, respectively. The dependence of the crystalline structure according to the amount of Mg2+ contents is not observed, and all specimens show a polycrystalline rhombohedral crystal structure, the X-ray diffraction (110) peaks move to the high angle side with increasing the amount of Mg2+ contents. LSMMO specimens exhibit a granule-shaped microstructure with an average grain size of 1 ㎛ or less. Resistivity gradually decrease as the amount of Mg2+ contents increased. And in the La0.7Sr0.1Mg0.2MnO3 specimen, resistivity and B25/65-value are 36.7 Ω-cm and 394 K at room temperature, respectively. LSMMO specimens show a variable-range hopping (VRH) electrical conduction mechanism, and the negative temperature of coefficient of resistance (NTCR) is approximately 0.37~0.38%/℃.

한국과 중국의 강 퇴적물의 주성분 원소 함량 특성: 황해 니질 퇴적물의 기원지 연구를 위한 잠재적 추적자 (Major Elemental Compositions of Korean and Chinese River Sediments: Potential Tracers for the Discrimination of Sediment Provenance in the Yellow Sea)

  • 황해와 북동중국해에는 중국의 황하와 양쯔강 그리고 한국의 강들로부터 많은 양의 부유물질이 공급되어 대륙붕 해역에 여러 개의 니질 퇴적체가 발달하고 있으나, 이들 퇴적체에서 두 기원을 설명할 수 있는 퇴적-지화학적 요인은 아직까지 명확하게 제시되고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 한국과 중국 기원 강 퇴적물의 주성분 원소의 함량 특성을 비교 연구하고, 그 결과를 토대로 황해와 북동중국해 퇴적물에 적용 가능한 기원지 추적자를 제시하였다. 본 연구를 위해 총 102개의 강과 연안 퇴적물에 대한 주성분 원소(Al, Fe, Mg, K, Ca, Na, Ti)들의 함량을 유도결합플라즈마 분석기를 이용하여 분석하였으며, 이와 함께 입도효과를 최소화하기위해 원시료를 실트$(60{\sim}20{\mu}m)$와 점토 구간$(<20{\mu}m)$으로 분리하여 주성분 원소 함량과 스트론튬 동위원소 비($^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$)를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 새로운 방법의 입도보정을 통한 Fe/Al과 Mg/Al 함량 비는 매우 유용한 잠재적 추적자로 제시되며, 이러한 결과는 입자 분리된 실트와 점토 퇴적물에서 더욱 뚜렷하다. 또한 실트 구간의 퇴적물에서 한국 기원의 $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ 비는 $0.7229{\sim}0.7253$(평균 0.7243) 범위로 중국 기원 퇴적물($0.7169{\sim}0.7189$, 평균 0.7179)과 뚜렷한 차이를 보여, 황해와 북동중국해에서 한국과 중국 기원의 퇴적물을 구분할 수 있는 중요한 지화학적 성분으로 평가된다. 이러한 잠재적 추적자들에 근거할 때, 한국 서남해에 발달하고 있는 니질 퇴적대의 전퇴적물은 한국과 중국의 혼합 기원으로 해석되나, 실트와 점토 구간의 퇴적물로 나누어 볼 때 그기원이 각각 다르게 나타났다. 즉, 점토 퇴적물은 한국과 중국의 혼합 기원으로, 실트 퇴적물은 한국 기원이 우세한 것으로 해석된다.

여자만 연성저질의 여름철 대형저서동물 공간분포 (Spatial Distribution of Soft Bottom Macrobenthos of Yeoja Bay in Summer Season, South Coast of Korea)

  • 여자만 저서동물 군집 구조를 파악하기 위하여 87개 정점에서 2001년 7월 grab 채집을 통한 현장 조사를 수행하였다. 여자만은 만 중앙부를 중심으로 니질 퇴적상이 폭넓게 나타나고 있으며 하천으로부터 담수가 유입되는 하구역에서는 모래 함량이 높았다. 조사기간 동안 총 274종, 평균 2,346 개체/$m^2$$78.2g/m^2$의 저서동물이 출현하였다. 출현종수에서는 다모류가 122종(45%)으로서 가장 우점하였으며, 갑각류가 70종(26%), 연체동물이 57종(21%) 출현하였다. 출현종수 공간분포는 퇴적상 및 저층염분과 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 출현밀도에서도 다모류가 1,543 개체/$m^2$로서 66%를 점유하였는데 모래 함량과는 양의 상관관계를, 니질 및 평균 입도와는 음의 상관관계를 보였다. 극피동물의 밀도는 염분과 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 반면 생체량에서는 연체동물이 $44.4g/m^2$으로서 57%를 점유하였는데, 실트 및 분급과 음의 상관관계를 보였다. Bio-Env 분석 결과 저층염분과 모래 함량의 조합이 대형저서동물 군집에 영향을 미치는 주된 환경요소로 나타났다. 주요 우점종으로서는 기수성 다모류인 Minuspio japonica가 평균 1,167 개체/$m^2$로서 가장 우점하였으나 벌교천 하구역에만 제한적으로 분포하였으며, 옆새우류인 Eriopisella sechellensis의 밀도는 152 개체/$m^2$로서 여자만 내에 광범위하게 분포하였다. 또한 다모류인 Sternaspis scutata와 이매패류의 Corbiculina sp.도 우점적으로 출현하였다. 종 다양도(H')는 여자도를 중심으로 여자만 남측해역은 3.0 이상의 값을 나타낸 반면, 북측해역은 2.0~3.0 범위의 값을 나타내었으며 염분과 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 집괴분석 결과 5개 정점군으로 구분되었는데, SIMPER 분석결과 Minuspio japonica, Eriopisella sechellensis 그리고 Sternaspis scutata의 기여도가 높았으며 여자만 입구에서부터 내만으로 들어가면서 정점군이 순차적으로 배열되는 양상을 보였다. 본 연구 결과로부터 여자만의 여름철 대형저서동물 군집은 퇴적상과 저층염분에 의해 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있으며 여자만의 저서환경 변동을 파악하기 위해 주요 우점종 및 군집 공간 분포에 대한 지속적인 모니터링이 필요하다고 판단된다.
