Power electronics is an interdisciplinary area that is interstitial to all of the major disciplines of electrical engineering including power, electronics and control. Today, the covering field of power electronics has more widely spread out with the help of ever evolving microelectronics and computer science. Whereas, in Japan the tendency is becoming remarkable nowadays that science, especially "mathematics" and "hardware work", are falling into disfavor with the young people. For these reasons, it has become a very important problem to find out "what are the truest essentials of power electronics\ulcorner" and "How to give students incentives to learn power electronics\ulcorner " from an educational point of view In under-graduate and graduate courses in universities. On the other hand, the power electronics engineers in companies are always required to comply with the ever changing trend of global and open market. However, it takes long time to cultivate their skills. Against the background, "The Cooperative Research Committee on Education of Power Electronics" was established in the IEEJ Industry Applications Society during 2000-2001. The present status of the power electronics education in Japan is surveyed in this paper, and some problems with remedy are pointed out based on the discussions performed in the committee.sed on the discussions performed in the committee.

This study examined the background of the dietary life of North Korean defector adolescents born and raised in North Korea and their new South Korean dietary experiences after being settled in South Korea. The study included six North Korean defector adolescents enrolled in an alternative school located in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. This study's qualitative research methodology included two-by-two group interviews, followed by individual interviews and field observation. The study period was from September 14 to October 26, 2019. Before entering South Korea, they primarily ate food pickled with soybean and salt, a cooking method by which foods are preserved because refrigerators were unavailable. After settling in South Korea, they had difficulty adapting to South Korean foods because of the unfamiliar ingredients and recipes. On the other hand, they quickly adapted to some foods, such as chicken. The participants reported that North Korean foods are generally light, whereas South Korean foods are sweet, salty, and spicy; hence, they do not taste delicious. The results suggest that attention be paid to menu improvement and the provision of nutritional education by schools and the government to prevent undernourishment or malnourishment because of unfamiliar ingredients and recipes.

Online education is a new domain of learning that combines distance learning with the practice of face-to-face instruction utilizing computer-mediated communication. As technology continues to develop and the needs of teachers require better access to higher learning, online graduate degree programs can be a valid alternative. Some institutions in the United States have already offered graduate degrees in music education through the online distance learning. In this study, 8 accredited online graduate degree programs in music education were identified in terms of curriculum requirement, program requirement, and admission requirement. Online programs offer considerable benefits of convenience, while their drawbacks relates to the quality of learning, feelings of weaker interpersonal interaction. More researches need in order for online music programmers to achieve higher standards of instruction and to inform other disciplines in the fields of arts education and the performing arts.

Twenty-three plants of Japanese apricot (Prunus mume) were collected from several sites around Mountains JIRI in Korea. Japanese apricots having the different morphological features were evenly distributed in the groups made from the cluster analysis, indicating no geographic distributions but artificial vegetations in Korea. Japanese apricots were, as based on the PCR-RAPD techniques, clustered into the three groups; a group (prototype) having the five white petals with the five red sepals, a group (green type) having the five white petals with the five green sepals, and a group (hybrid type) having the more than five red petals with various colored sepals. The prototype apricots showed higher toxicities than other type apricot against bacteria and production of less compounds in TLC plates. The polypetal types of Japanes apricot were related to those of p. armebiaca in the characteristics of seed (the ruggedness), but also to be closed to those of p. armebiaca in PCR-RAPD analysis. The cluster analysis of the twenty three apricots and its related species calculated from the two primers were shown to distinguish relationships of cultivars within species, or of individual plants within cultivars, but also to display the two overlapping bands resulted from PCR-RAPD technique.

Communicating about mathematics is an essential component in learning mathematics and is a key standard for successful learning in a mathematics classroom using stories and storytelling as a catalyst to mathematics instruction. This, however, can make learning math for students with language deficiencies since they are working toward mastering both basic language proficiency as well as the specialized language needed for mathematics. This is a particular concern because the number of students of multicultural families is rapidly increasing. In this paper, we discuss the challenges and complexities of language-deficient students learning math in a classroom where communication is a key standard for successful learning, and suggest implications for teaching, by presenting an USA elementrny teacher's scaffolding to make reading and solving word problems less intimidating for her language learner students as well as native speaking students.

This study proposes a means of guiding undergraduate research assistants programs in a more positive direction. This will be achieved by researching the reality of the programs operated in engineering departments for graduate school students and by analyzing the problems thereof. To achieve this objective, a literature study and research were conducted, which comprised of a survey on 204 graduate school students within the metropolitan area of Korea. The results of the study demonstrated that experience as an undergraduate research assistant has a positive influence on the adaptation to and life in graduate school. However, the role of the student and the level of salary varied depending on the role of the student, based on the capacity and support of individual professors. Thus, it is deemed that there will be a need for systematic program improvement and the development of a program that can provide significant academic activities, rather than simple experimental assistance.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate of The University of Science and Technology (UST) as field-oriented graduate school model. The UST is unique in world-wide because of its operating system through the synergy effect of research and education and its interdisciplinary major system differentiated from the traditional graduate school, It first deals with measuring the users satisfaction by using a five-point Likert scale to analyze the general and special factors of UST, through which some findings are pointed out as follows; the education aims and visions are highly satisfied while essential factors in field-oriented education such as curriculum composition, apprentice and tailored education system, field training are not so high level. Finally it points out some suggestions for the UST development.

Mathematical creativity has been confused with general creativity or mathematical problem solving ability in many studies. Also, it is considered as a special talent that only a few mathematicians and gifted students could possess. However, this paper revisited the mathematical creativity from a mathematics educator's point of view and attempted to redefine its definition. This paper proposes a model of creativity in school mathematics. It also proposes that the basis for mathematical creativity is in the understanding of basic mathematical concept and structure.

Five species of the Laboulbeniales, including two unrecorded species are reported from South Korea. They are as follows; Dioicomyces anthici Thaxter on Anthicus confucii Marseul, Laboulbenia melanaria Thaxter on Anisodacthius tricuspidatus Morawitz, L. philonthi Thaxter on Philonthus wuesthoffi Bernhauer, Peyritschiella japonicus Terada on Philonthus japonicus Sharp, and Scaphidiomyces baeocerae Thaxter on Scaphisoma unicolor Achard. Among these species, L. melanaria Thaxter, S. baeocerae Thaxter and the male thallus of D. anthici Thaxter are newly described from South Korea. L. Philonthi Thaxter and P. japonicus Terada are newly collected in some places where were unlike with the examined region ago.
