Eyes and Lenses: A Comparison and Differences

  • This article will compare the following visual categories: visual angle, distinguishable details, sensitivity, and dynamic range. These categories are often considered within the subject of the maximum deviation from the camera eye, an issue which has generated much controversy. Other characteristics such as depth of field, three-dimensional vision, white balance and color, are not considered in this article.

목판 교환 방법을 활용한 다색 협힐 제작기법에 관한 연구 (A study of multicolored clamp resist dyeing techniques using a wooden printing-block exchange method)

  • The aim of this study is to define the new expressive techniques for multicolored clamp resist (hyuphill) dyeing, based on empirical verification on relics that are estimated to be dyed by the exchange of more than two wood blocks: a previously undiscovered technique. Clamp resist dyeing (assumed to be made by exchanging wood blocks) have uneven resist printing lines or cloudy gradation. These are reproduced as follows: first, they have uneven contour lines, particularly with the color blue. It is possible to exchange wood blocks separately on patterns with uneven resist printing lines, and it has been verified that the exchange of wood blocks makes these irregular resist printing lines. It has also been verified that exchanging the wood blocks according to the gradation (to emphasize the cubic effect on the patterns) yields clamp resist dyeing with no resist printing lines but with cloudy gradations that have accented borders. This study provides basic information that enables methods of multicolored clamp resist dyeing through wood block exchange to be deduced (something that has not been attempted for a long time). Thus, the revival of the modern Korean dyeing culture based on the conservation and perseverance of the traditional dyeing techniques can be achieved.

기본유의 변화가 안료의 발색에 미치는 영향과 Computer D-base해석 (Effect of Variable Base Glaze on the Gradation of Colouring and Analysis of The Computer D-Base)

  • This research was performed to investigate how the basic glaze change affected colour development at high temperature with a stable colorant (spinel structure CoAl2O4 pigment) The compounded pigment which is widely used for porcelain was also tested for the basic glazes adaptability. The data from the test were recorded in a computer data-base program. Therefore could be easily used in the study related with a pottery field. CoO : Al2O3 system spinel pigment of barium glaze lime glaze zinc glaze lead glaze and talc glaze were chosen for this study. The colors of Cobalt blue bright blue, blue purple were seen at the wave lengths of 455-480nm at the firing temperature of 1250$^{\circ}C$. Stable color were obtained from lime glaze bar-ium glaze zinc glaze. All the information in the database were used to examine all the possible result of the test in the study of porcelain. When the test results database were examined in all temperature ranges the lack of adhesion with the pigment occurred at the temperature of 1150$^{\circ}C$. The lack of adhesion is seen due to vaporization of the lead glaze.

색의대비 기반 템플릿을 이용한 색상 변환 (Color Transfer using Color Contrast Based Templates)

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 색상을 가지는 입력 영상의 화질올 잘 유지하면서, 객체들 간 시각적인 차이를 뚜렷하게 표현하기 위해 색의대비 기반 템플릿을 이용하는 색상 변환 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방법은 CIE $L^{\ast}a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$색상 공간 중 유채색의 $a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$평면상에 분포된 입력 영상파 템플릿의 색상 데이터를 이용한다. 템플릿은 색상간의 대비효과를 고려하여 만들어지며, 사용자가 임의로 지정한 가준 색상들을 기반한 그라데이션 영상의 색상 분포를 표시하는 칙선 또는 곡선의 형태를 가진다. 또한, 만들어진 템플릿을 스플라인 곡선으로 모델링하고, 모텔링된 곡선의 제어점을 변형함으로써 간단하게 다른 기준 색상을 가지는, 새로운 탱플릿을 만들 수도 있다. 탬플릿을 이용한 색상 변환은 회귀분석과 칼라 매칭을 통해 이루어지며, 입력 영상의 색상분포를 템플릿의 색상 분포와 유사하게 변형함으로써 입력 영상의 색상 일관성올 유지하였다.

3-D DISPLAY USING COMPUTER-GENERATED BINARY HOLOGRAMS

  • We have been making researches on 3-D displays using computer-generated holograms(CGHs). Our CGHs are binary Fresnel holograms that reconstruct point light sources and are recorded by using high resolution laser printers (image setters). We use an image setter with a resolution of 5080 dots per inch. It is possible to reconstruct CGHs with light-emitting points. As the resolution of the image setter is not so high, it is better to use a spherical wave as a reference beam. We considered the recordable points objects are restricted by the low resolution, and proposed the multiplex type hologram to reduce the number of point objects recorded in the unit area of the CGH. We proposed a method to make computer-generated color hologram which could reconstruct color point light sources, by combining RGB color filters with the stripe CGHs corresponding to each color. We considered two kinds of gradation method on our binary CGHs. In this paper, we propose a multiple reconstruction method for improving the narrow viewing field.

  • 90년대 중반부터 이후(인어공주이후) 장편애니메이션은 미국의 대형 스튜디오를 중심으로 활발하게 제작되어 엔터테인먼트 산업의 한 축으로 자리잡고 있다. 하지만, 일본 애니메이션과 미국 애니메이션의 발전에 비해 우리나라의 애니메이션은 이렇다 할 특징을 보이지 못하고 있는 현실이다. 재정적인 문제와 더불어 아이들의 전유물이라고 생각하는 의식의 전환이 이루어지고 있지 않기 때문이기도 하다. 본 연구는 정보전달의 단계에서 이루어지는 색채정보를 중심으로 하며, 미국 내 대형스튜디오에서 제작되어진 장편애니메이션의 ‘이미지 색채’를 분석하기로 한다. 인간이 느끼는 감성자극 중 대량의 정보를 가장 빠르게 인지하는 시각적 감성요소인 색채를 중심으로 애니메이션의 과거와 현재와 미래를 예측한다. 미국 애니메이션의 색채를 분석해 봄으로서, 정교하고 섬세한 자극에 반응하는 감성적 색채요인을 찾아보고 발달되어진 애니메이션 기술에 표현되어지는 색을 감성산업에 적용한다.

자연미의 인식을 통한 의상디자인 연구 -난(蘭) 모티브를 중심으로- (A Study on the Costume Design through Perception of the Natural Beauty -Concentrating on the Orchid Motif-)

  • The orchid has a very elegant color and various forms in the nature or the ground for human life and the mother of life, The purpose of this study is to express some creative formative art by using the orchid as motive, and thereby, suggest the possibility of an artistic modern costume design by reviewing the texture of the materials. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, it was confirmed through this study that the orchid with diverse forms and colors can be used as design motive in almost infinitely diverse ways, and that all the artificial forms or structures contain the elements of natural beauty. Second, the luxurious and rich sense of orchid‘s color can be maximized by using the complementary contrast effect of the dyeing technique and the color gradation effect through harmony among similar colors. Third, a high value-added costume can be created to meet modern men’s aesthetic desire by using such embroidery techniques as crochet, weaving, dyeing, beads embroidery and art flower. Fourth, different effects of texture can be rendered by using different materials of various textures and characteristics. In addition, the possibility of creative expression for costume as formative art can be enhanced by expanding the expressions of the materials.

시각기호의 3차원을 활용한 패션일러스트레이션의 은유와 환유적 표현방법 분석 (The Expression of Metaphor and Metonymy in Fashion illustration by Three Components of Visual Sign)

  • The purpose of this study was to show the analysis system and the expression which is applied to fashion illustration by three major components in visual sign, metaphor and metonymy. The results of this study were as follows : Firstly, metaphor in qualisign of syntactics was revealed as a color such as realistic description, a pattern such as clothing of figure. etc. Metonymy was revealed as a social and cultural background color, a concept pattern. etc. In sinsign of syntactics. metaphor was revealed as a human body, non-human body and metamorphosis human body and metonymy as a human body and non-human body. In legisign of syntactics, the metaphor by perspective was used for a fantasy of space. and the metonymy was revealed as a color perspective representation, etc. The degree of change of texture was revealed as a metaphor and metonymy of gradation. And conventional custom sign was almost revealed in metaphor. Secondly, semantics showed about fashion image as juxtaposition of two similar objects in metaphor and as real description and simplification in metonymy Alternative fashion image in semantics was presented as a object related to fashion image. Conventional symbolic sign was presented as a role to clarify a fashion message in metaphor. Thirdly, the metaphorical and metonymical expression in pragmatics were usually presented as drawing and painting.

디스플레이 장치에서 인쇄원고의 컬러 재현특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Color Reproduction Characteristic of Original Copy in Display Device)

  • An accurate characterization of the display device is essential for better color matching. The calibration and characterization process in display device is needed to transform the device dependent color to the device independent color. The process of characterization performs a linearization and transforms the linearized values into the CIE XYZ tristimulus values. The purposes of this paper is to propose optimal color transformation method for accurate reproduction of original copy in display device and to explain the propriety of transformation method using specific variable for the power of gradation expression.

레드 카펫 패션 스타일 - 2000~2012년 아카데미 시상식과 그래미 시상식 비교를 중심으로 - (Red Carpet Fashion Style - Concentrating on from 2000 to 2012's Academy Awards and Grammy Awards the comparison -)

  • This study attempts to systematically analyze a red carpet style. I have researched the Academy Awards called representative film awards which symbolizes international fame and the Grammy Awards which is the most prestigious award in the music industry by subdividing into formative elements such as silhouette, color, fabric, pattern, detail, accessory, fashion image, and so on from 2000 to 2012. Firstly, when it comes to silhouette, mermaid silhouette accounts for the highest proportion in the Academy Awards. Compared to this, fit silhouette is shown almost the same percentage as the mermaid silhouette in the Grammy Awards. Secondly, with regard to color, black color has not only the highest percentage but also examples of different unit forms such as various color, showy gradation and single colors. Various colors in the Grammy Awards have similar percentage in comparison with the Academy Awards. Thirdly, in terms of fabric, silky material is often used most, which looks like putting more weight on dresses for the formative elements of clothes. Fourthly, in pattern, patternless dresses are represented by high percentage at both the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards. Dresses with patterns have mild, stylistic elements and geometric designs. The Grammy Awards shows many different unique patterns, color and size, compared to the Academy Awards. Fifthly, in detail, frill and ruffle ornaments are shown most at the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards. Especially in the Grammy Awards, beads ornaments are used most. Sixthly, in accessory, there are many accessories of graceful, elegance styles in the Academy Awards. On the contrary to this, there are many accessories to effect on many performances of large, fancy, unique styles. Seventhly, elegance images of a goddess style among fashion images emerge as fashion of the Academy Awards. In spite of romantic styles in the Grammy Awards, many various images are the same rate as there, which means different appearance of experiment and sensational styles.
