  • Seasonal variation in species composition and abundance of fish assemblage in the coastal waters off Gori were determined using monthly samples collected by a three-side fyke net in 2006. Of a total of 59 fishes collected, the dominant species were Trachurus japonicus, Mugil cephaIus, Konosirus punctatus, Apogon lineatus, Chelidonichthys spinosus, Ditrema temmincki, Sebastes schlegeli and Apogon semilineatus. These 8 fishes accounted for 92.7% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of fish species, number of individuals, biomass and species diversity indices fluctuated with the seasons. The peak number of fishes occurred in December, whereas biomass of fishes was the highest in March. The number and biomass of fishes were lower in January corresponded with the low temperatures, and the diversity indices were lower in December than in any other month.

  • Body size is one of the important factors that determine mating success in various animal taxa. Nevertheless, only few related studies have been conducted on Korean salamanders. In this study, we have investigated whether large male Gori salamander (Hynobius yangi), which is a Korean endemic species and is unknown for its mating behaviors, is dominant in the mating competition than small males. Thirteen sets of mating trials composed of one large male, one small male, and one female per each group were analyzed in the categories of courtship display towards females, male competition and egg fertilizing behavior. The results show that the mating behaviors between large and small males towards females or with each other did not significantly differ. These results may have been caused by a small size variation among males and the presence of plenty of oviposition locations in breeding sites. This is the first report on Gori salamander's mating behaviors.

  • According to the design method for constructing the G gori(the traditional Korean jacket)collar, there are differences in form after its completion. In the construction design of the midsection of the gusset as in that of the basic G gori, not only was the positioning of the two sides of the collar not smooth, but also, when the collar strip was attached, there would be an imbalance on one side or the other so that it was difficult to achieve symetry. Therefore in this project, by applying the pattern design of the gusset midsection to that of the collar midsection, not only did attaching the collar and the collar strip create a visual effect by equalizing the lengths of the tow sides, but the construction was also easy. This method of construction introduces the three-dimensional aspect of the human form in its conic, spherical and cylindrical aspects, so that, through schematizing the scientific character of Korea's clothing, its appropriateness is verified. As a matter of fact, since th-ere in no standardization of pattern whether for educational use or for mass-produced clothing, so that even the patterns used in computer-assisted design are executed according to the designer's personal skill, the reality is that after completion of construction the quality has not been uniform. For this schematization, inverse calculation of measurements pertaining to the calculation formula and of teaching materials has been referenced. In particular, the partial requlation of the calculation formula pertaining to the basic pattern construction, the method of making the collar midsection, and the construction method of the extreme and mean ratio adjustment can be adjusted for all measurements, thereby providing the establishment of a design criterion and the possibility of the standardization of construction methods. The production method for the pattern design is as follows: 1) The conic angle for the G gori's girth, length and neck width is fixed at 70 degrees. 2) The radius of the cone is B/2. 3) The calculation formula is B/4 + 1.5cm 4) The armhole formula is B/4, the same as in the basic method. 5) The width formula is B/10. 6) The ratio of the collar junction(width of collar + width of collar strip)to the gusset length is 5:8. 7) The length of the side seam is a length intersecting the armhole line and the conic radius (B/2), that is an arc that exceeds the length of the G gori's midsection; the component ratio of this length to the collar junction is accordingly 13:5. 8) The curve frame length of the back midsection is an arc exceeding B/4(the armhole line). 9) The ratio of the sleeve opening calculation formula to the armhole length is 8:5, forming an arc with the midsection length.

  • The TDCORE and the RELOAD-II codes are adopted in an attempt to establish a simplified computational system for the in-core fuel management decisions of a PWR. The TDCORE is being used to simulate the power and burnup behavior of the Gori unit 1 PWR during the fuel cycle 1 through the cycle 5. The validity of the TDCORE code is also presented by comparing the TDCORE prediction with the in-core measurements. The RELOAD-II code is used to determine the optimum fuel loading pattern which is one of the most important decisions of the Gori unit 1 reactor. The utility and applicability of two codes for the fuel management analyses are described.

  • This study aims to overview and review the infiltration of Japanese Buddhism and it's influences on the construction and architectural characteristics of Japanese Buddhist temple from the opening of ports to Independence Day of Korea. Infiltration of Japanese Buddhism had been sustained during 70 years from the foundation of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple(東本願寺) in Pusan, by Shinshu Otani School(眞宗 大谷派) which was one of Japanese Buddhism, to Independence Day of Korea. This study is to be promoted on the following subjects ; 1) the circumstance around the infiltration of Japanese Buddhism 2) Buddhism policy of Japanese Governor and infiltration on Korean Buddhism 3) increasing trend, distribution and construction of Japanese Buddhist temples near downtown areas 4) for the conclusion, case research on Bondang, Gori, and open space and analysis on the architecture style of Japanese Buddhist temples. Accordingly, Korean Buddhism had been subordinated to Japanese Buddhism, and the management system and memorial service of Korean Buddhism had to be affected by Japanese Buddhism. This study is considered meaningful for the elementary research to examine the aspects of Japanese style on Korean Buddhist architecture at that time.

  • The reproductive ecology of the cardinalfish Apogon lineatus was examined using 4,300 specimens collected monthly from January to December 2006 in the coastal waters of Gori, Korea. Specimens ranged in standard length (SL) from 2.1 to 8.6 cm. They were distributed more in surface areas during summer and autumn and more on bottom areas during spring and winter. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) of females was highest in September and decreased until December, with the spawning season lasting from August to October. The monthly ratio of female to male did not significantly differ (${\chi}^2$-test, p>0.05). The size of 50% maturity was estimated at 5.43 cm SL and all females more than 7.0 cm SL were sexually mature. A. lineatus is a multiple spawner, spawning on more than one occasion in a single spawning season. The maximum egg diameter was 0.65 mm. Fecundity (F) ranged from 8,555 to 20,084 eggs, with a mean of 15,038 eggs. The relationship between fecundity and standard length was estimated as F=$334,851\;SL^{1.9876}$ ($R^2$=0.53). The relationship between fecundity and body weight(BW) was estimated as F=7,167.6 Ln (BW)-2,198.1 ($R^2$=0.33).

  • To elucidate which climate factors and what periods affect the time of breeding migration of Gori salamanders (Hynobius yangi), we have investigated relationships between the 5-years breeding monitoring data from 2006 to 2010 which had obtained in both natural and translocated breeding sites at Bongdae mountain, Gijang-gun, Busan-si and the matched climate data obtained from the weather station, approximately 25 km apart from the sites. Mean average and mean lowest temperatures during one month before the first breeding migration were related with the time of first female migration in the translocated site. Mean temperature variation and mean precipitation during 60~120 days before the first breeding migration affected the time of 30% male appearance at the natural site and the time of 30% female appearance at both natural and translocated sites. Climate factors were more closely related with female appearance than male and at the translocated site than at the natural site. Our results show that changes in mean temperature variation and mean precipitation rather than mean average temperature might more significantly affect the breeding migration of salamanders, female breeding migration is more closely related with climate factors, and the salamanders translocated could be more affected by climate changes than those in natural populations.

  • The feeding habits of Repomucenus lunatus were studied using 232 specimens collected from January to December 2006 in the coastal waters off Gori, Korea. The size of R. lunatus ranged from 4.7 to 14.0 cm in standard length (SL). R. lunatus was a bottom-feeding carnivore which consumed mainly amphipods and polychaetes. Its diet also included small quantities of shrimps, cumaceans, bivalvies, gastropods, crabs, copepods, euphausia, mysids, stomatopods, ostracods and sipunculides. Amphipods were eaten predominantly for the smallest size class. The proportions of polychaetes increased gradually with increasing fish size and large size class of R. lunatus mainly consumed polychaetes. The feeding strategy graphical method revealed that R. lunatus is a specialized feeder. The mean number and weight of preys per stomach of larger size classes were higher than those of smaller size classes. The mean weight of preys per stomach ontogenetically changed with size classes.
