  • Growing worldwide interests in walking are increasing and walking surveys and measuring walking projects are becoming more popular. By the way, we do not have the general survey method on walking yet. The lacks of pedestrian walking features lead to underestimate walking population and the social importance of walking. To solve this problem, Walk21 and Pedestrian Quality Needs projects have tried to build the international standardization in methodology of measuring walking. This study suggests indicator system of the measuring walking and models on the measuring walking proposed by the international measuring walking projects. In addition, we reviewed global governance of those projects and several cases related to the measuring walking. This paper will contribute to domestic walking surveys for participating actively in the ongoing international standardization methodology of walking.

  • This paper aims to examine the implications of the global market for Korean textile and fashion firms with regard to recent changes in the international business environment to improve the corporative management to the level that the global economy demands. The trade and business environment is moving toward the paradigm of glocalism. As the geographical scope of the market and business environment continues to expand with the aid of technological development, demands for global standards as a means to offer universal validity in business settings have been raised. The glocalized society values diversity as a notion beyond global standardization. The world trade orders are subject to free trade; however, protectionism has substantially promoted trade barriers in the name of the environment and safety issues, ethical managements, and intellectual property rights. For sustainable development in the global market, Korean firms should strive to implement global standards related to these issues and corporate social responsibility in their business settings.

  • Recently, there is a growing interest in technical standardization all over industry, it is very important for survival in the global market to secure standard patent in almost all of company. Technology in construction industry is essential for quality of people's life and have large impact on national economy development. However, there is lack of investment and low interest in technical standardization in construction industry in comparison with another industries. Therefore this study aims at developing strategies for activating the standardization in construcion technology. Specially, this study carries market analysis and case study for domestic construction R&D Cases. Then, a structured survey and analysis is performed for standardization in construcion technology market to suggest alternative to secure national competitiveness.

  • Countries are promoting Green New Deal policy to cope with global warming and climate change as a result of economic growth and overcome the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus 19. The role of ICT technology is crucial in realizing the Green New Deal policy, and standardization of ICT technology should be preceded. This paper examines domestic and foreign Green New Deal policies and analyzes trends in ICT standardization activities. Based on the analysis, we propose standards that should be developed for the eight major projects in order to successfully realize the Korean Green New Deal. A strategy to promote ICT standardization for the zero energy project in public facilities as an example was proposed. In addition, we present ways to resolve difficulties in realizing ICT standardization policies related to Korean Green New Deal. Through this study, it is expected that the Korean Green New Deal policies, which is being promoted at the pan-government level, will be effective based on ICT standard technology.

  • This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which service companies transfer their services overseas and create new value while interacting with local characteristics. A narrative analysis method was used in a case study of Ajisen Ramen, a Japanese service company that created a Japanese-style ramen restaurant, which experienced rapid growth in China. This study analyzed the restaurant as global service innovation and constructed a causal mechanism to explain the resulting rapid growth. In the pre-entry stage, the tangible value source core service facilitated its successful overseas transfer. In the post-entry stage, value source core service standardization and value sharing were interrelated and locally accepted factors. Knowledge of the local characteristics influenced the local storefront format that allowed contact with local customers. This local front format made it possible to offer local customers new value. The global service innovation mechanism developed through this study reflects a causal diagram that correlated the theoretical concepts of these events.

  • Existing research on international standardization has largely taken a qualitative approach focusing on comparative studies of national institutions and policies on standards or international rivalries from the perspectives of international relations or innovation studies. While there exists a handful of quantitative studies, they are mostly confined to simple numeric counts of essential patents, new work item proposals, or secretaries staffing international standards development organizations (SDOs). This study aims to contribute to our understanding of the dynamics of international standardization by the analysis of the data coding systematically national activities in the standardization process of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), by far the largest international SDO. Our analysis of the four critical types of standardization documents generated in the Working Group 7 of the ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 reveals interesting dynamics among key players of global ICT standards regime. First, while the US takes a dominant share of the personnel as well as new work item proposals for standardization, its quality of activities rather falls behind as it mostly focuses on keeping in check other countries' standardization activities. Second, European countries tend to spread their effort evenly across different types of standardization activities. Finally, despite such differences between the US and European countries, both rely heavily on multinational companies to gain an advantage in the voting stage of standardization process.

  • The standardization of eddy-covariance data processing is essential for the analysis and synthesis of vast amount of data being accumulated through continuous observations in various flux measurement networks. End users eventually benefit from the open and transparent standardization protocol by clear understanding of final products such as evapotranspiration and gross primary productivity. In this paper, we briefly introduced KoFlux efforts to standardize data processing methodologies and then estimated uncertainties of surface fluxes due to different processing methods. Based on our scrutiny of the data observed at Gwangneung KoFlux site, net ecosystem exchange and ecosystem respiration were sensitive to the selection of different processing methods. Gross primary production, however, was consistent within errors due to cancellation of the differences in NEE and Re, emphasizing that independent observation of ecosystem respiration is required for accurate estimates of carbon exchange. Nocturnal soil evaporation was small and thus the annually integrated evapotranspiration was not sensitive to the selection of different data processing methods. The implementation of such standardized data processing protocol to AsiaFlux will enable the establishment of consistent database for validation of models of carbon cycle, dynamic vegetation, and land-atmosphere interaction at regional scale.

  • The United States has had the superiority in the global trading market, and focused on the deregulation, decentralization, and often competitiveness. Also, it has adhered to pluralistic and uncoordinated systems for its various standard related activities. But with the WTO TBT entering into force late in 1990s, international standards have become more important in the global telecommunication market. So it has been recognized that the progressive standard activity would lead to keep the superiority of the nation in global telecommunication market. Specially, as the EU has been most active in building an agreed-upon technical standards among Its members, the US has faced with a serious problem that it has lack of agreed-upon infrastructure for standards. Hence, to keep the leadership in international telecommunications market, now it has been focusing on the national approach to standardization activities through the governmental support. For the implementation of above purposes, it amended 2 Acts. One is the Telecommunication Act of 1996. The other is NTTAA(National Technology Transfer and Advancement Art) of 1996, which was enacted according to the 1995 report "Standards, Conformity Assessment, and Trade into the 21 Century" by )TRC(National Research Council). In this paper, we analyse the US legal system in telecommunication standardization field including above arts and their Implementing plans. And we suggest the need for the active system of government in our telecommunication standardization.
