  • GSM(Global System for Mobile Communications) is a Pan-European digital cellular mobile system supporting widespread roaming and personal communication services in a worldwide wireless communication network. In suite of providing security capability, however, there are some problems like user authentication in GSM. In this paper, we propose the enhanced authentication mechanism to verify strongly each network entity to so]ye user authentication problem and support anonymity for user privacy.

  • GSM(Global System for Mobile communications) that is the most popular standard for mobile phones, has more than 70% users in the world and the number of users increase continuously. However GSM system has the problem that cannot normally authenticate a user by the exposure of IMSI that is able to uniquely authenticate MS? during the user authentication procedure. In this paper? we provide security enhancement and user privacy by adopting a temporary id and an encryption scheme. Moreover we provide fast user authentication via architecture modification of the conventional GSM user authentication protocol.

  • In this paper, we implement measurement functionality for performance measurement of the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) terminal by using software. Generally speaking, the receiving algorithms in normal modems cannot be used directly to the measurement system due to the lack of the algorithm accuracy. In this paper, we propose the new receiver algorithm for precise GSM signal measurements. In the receiving algorithm, 2-stage (coarse stage, fine stage) parameters estimation (symbol-timing, frequency offset, carrier phase) scheme is used. To improve the estimation accuracy, we increase the number of the received signal samples by interpolation. The proposed GSM signal measurement algorithm can be used for verifying the hardware measurement system. In addition, the proposed algorithm can be used for the commercial system through code execution speed optimization.

  • In this paper, the dual band VCO of mobile communication terminal using oscillation part switching circuit is proposed. In order to model the VCO accurately, the resonator is converted the equivalent circuit which is analyzed to use numerical method and designed optimal the dual band VCO operating GSM and DCS band. In order to demonstrate the objective theory of the proposed VCO, the dual band VCO is designed and experimented. The results of experiment, it is conformed that the VCO can be used mobile communication hand phone and components of three generation mobile communication systems.

  • In this paper, we study the method of noise analysis for analysing TDMA noise in a GSM mobile phone and describe the cause of TDMA noise. And we reduced noise by 9dB, 3.5dB, 6dB, using MIC shielding, equipped bead or capacitance, connected PCB ground based on the difference analysis method, which is one of common noise analysis methods.

  • In this paper, the method to improve audio noise when GMS(Global System of Mobile Communication) is built in HPC(Handheld PC)is provided. The biggest problem with quality of audio is improved by connecting GSM module with wire to the widest erea near by HPC Power Ground to reduce impedance difference, and designing amplifier and earpiece, Result of measurement is satisfied with GSM Acoustic Standard. Standard of GSM Audio is declared in GSM 11.10 ETS 300 607-1. Measuring items corresponds to that standard and B&K Type 6712 is used for measurement. The list of measurement presented in this paper is Sending Sensitivity Frequency Response and SLR, Sending Loudness Rating( SLR level), Receiving Sensitivity Loudness Rating(RLR level), Talker Sidetone(STMR), Stability margin, and Echo Loss(ERL)

  • GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) system which is being used in Europe is composed A3, A5 and A8 algorithms. In this paper we implement A3 algorithm using VHDL, and verify the design by simulation. The A3 algorithm is divided into 3 parts, the encryption part, in which F-function encrypts 64 bit block data;the key generation part, which produces 32 bit subkeys;the control part, which produces the control code.

  • We propose a compact internal quard-band antenna with sufficient impedance bandwidths and gains for the GSM(Global Systems for Mobile), GPS(Global Positing System). DCS(Digital Codeless System), PCS (Personal Communication System) operation. The proposed antenna on a substrate. which is small enough to be installed in practical mobile phones, has heights of only 6mm from the substrate. In addition, the proposed antenna decreases the construction complex on the substrate. The GSM ($880MHz{\sim}960MHz$) GPS(1575MHz) DCS($1710MHz{\sim}1880MHz$). PCS($1750MHz{\sim}1870MHz$) bands. Details of the design and analysis of the proposed antenna are described and the experimental results of the constructed prototype are presented.

Small Internal Antenna Using Multiband, Wideband, and High-Isolation MIMO Techniques

  • In this paper, a small internal antenna for a mobile handset is presented using multiband, wideband, and high-isolation multiple-input multiple-output techniques. The proposed antenna consists of three planar inverted-F antennas (PIFAs) that operate in the global system for mobile communication (GSM900), the digital communication system (DCS), the personal communication system (PCS), the universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS), and wireless local area network (WLAN) bands with a physical size of $40mm{\times}10mm{\times}10mm$. A resonator attached to the folded PIFA creates dual resonances, achieving a wide bandwidth of approximately 460 MHz, covering the DCS, PCS, and UMTS bands; a meander shorting line is used to improve impedance matching. Additionally, a modified neutralization link is embedded between diversity antennas to enhance isolation, which results in a 6-dB improvement in the isolation and less than 0.1 in the envelope correlation coefficient evaluated from the far-field radiation patterns. Simulation and measurements demonstrate very similar results for S-parameters and radiation patterns. Peak gains show 3.73 dBi, 3.77 dBi, 3.28 dBi, 2.15 dBi, and 5.86 dBi, and antenna efficiencies show 56.15%, 72.15%, 68.59%, 52.92%, and 82.93% for GSM900, DCS, PCS, UMTS, and WLAN bands, respectively.
