Optical Thin Film and Micro Lens Design for Efficiency Improvement of Organic Light Emitting Diode (유기 발광소자의 효율 향상을 위한 광학박막 및 마이크로렌즈 설계)

  • We have proposed an optical thin film and micro lens to improve the luminance of organic light emitting device. The first method, optical thin film was calculated refractive index of dielectric layer material that was modulated refractive index of organic material, ITO (indium tin oxide)and glass. The second method, microlens was applied with lenses on the organic device. Optical thin films were designed with Macleod Simulator and Micro Lenses were calculated by FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) solution. The structure of thin film was designed in organic material/ITO/dielectric layer/glass. The lenses size, height and distance were 5 ${\mu}m$, 1 ${\mu}m$, 1 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The material of micro lenses used silicon dioxide. Result, The highest luminance of OLED which applied with microlens was 11,185 $cd/m^2$, when approval voltage was 14.5 V, applied thin film was 5,857 $cd/m^2$. The device efficiency applying microlens increased 3 times than the device which does not apply microlens.

  • We propose a new graphical method for selecting a pair of optical and housing materials to simultaneously athermalize and achromatize an LWIR optical system. To have a much better opportunity to select the IR glasses and housing materials, an athermal glass map is expanded by introducing the DOE with negative chromatic power. Additionally, from the depth of focus in an LWIR optical system, the tolerable housing boundary is provided to realize an athermal and achromatic system even for not readily available housing material. Thus, we can effectively determine a pair of optical and housing materials by reducing the thermal shift to be less than the depth of focus. By applying this method to design a night vision camera lens, the chromatic and thermal defocuses are reduced to less than the depth of focus, over the specified waveband and temperature ranges.

  • Eye Glass Display(EGD)의 광학계를 소형, 경량화 하기 위하여 OLED 마이크로 패널과 프리즘 렌즈를 사용하여 설계하였다. 광학계 설계에 사용된 OLED 마이크로 패널은 0.59"크기의 SVGA($800{\times}600$)급이며, 크기는 0.59"이며, 렌즈는 프리즘 렌즈로 설계되었다. 설계된 프리즘 렌즈는 3연으로 구성되었으며, 각 면은 각각 비회전대칭 비구면으로 tilt와 decenter를 사용하여 광학적 성능을 향상시켰다. 설계된 프리즘 렌즈의 화각(FOV)은 $28^{\circ}$, 왜곡수차는 4% 이내이며, 광학계의 해상도를 나타내는 MTF는 공간주파수 30lp/mm에서 full field가 40%이상의 성능을 나타내었다.

  • Thermal and structural stability in the glass transition region of chalcogenide glasses has been investigated in terms of thermodynamics for application to various optoelectronic devices. In this study, the compositions of $Ge_xSb_{20}Se_{80-x}$ (x = 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30) were selected to investigate the glass stability according to germanium ratios. The chalcogenide bulks were fabricated by using a traditional melt-quenching method. Thin films were deposited by a thermal evaporation system, maintaining the deposition ratio of $3{\sim}5{\AA}$ in order to have uniformity. The thermal and structural properties were measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The DSC analysis provided thermal parameters and theoretical glass region stabilities. The XRD analysis supported the theoretical stabilities because of where the crystallization peak data occurred.

  • Nitride films such as TiN, CrN etc. deposited on glass by PVD processes have been developed for many industrial applications. These nitride films deposited on glass were widely used for not only decorative and optical coatings but also wear and corrosion resistance coatings employed as dies and molds made of glass for the example of lens forming molds. However, the major problem of nitride coatings on glass by PVD process is non-uniform film owing to pin-hole and micro crack. It is estimated that nonuniform coating is influenced by a different surface energy between metal nitrides and glass due to binding states. In this work, therefore, for the evaluation of nucleation and growth mechanism of nitride films on glass TiN and CrN film were synthesized on glass with various nitrogen partial pressure by unbalanced magnetron sputtering. Prior to deposition, for the examination of relationship between surface energy and film microstructure plasma pre-treatment process was carried out with various argon to hydrogen flow rate and substrate bias voltage, duty cycle and frequency by using pulsed DC power supply. Surface energy owing to the different plasma pre-treatment was calculated by the measurement of wetting angle and surface conditions of glass were investigated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS) and Atomic Force Microscope(AFM). The microstructure change of nitride films on glass with increase of film thickness were analyzed by X-Ray Diffraction(XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM).

  • This research used the sales information of the optician's shop located in Dadgu Dongseongro from January 2013 to October 2013. We used the sales information including the sale of glass frame, lens, sunglass, sale price, weekly sale and monthly sale generated in an optician's shop. It is difficult to direct expression for product sales quantity or amount. The sales ratio of the glass frame and sunglasses was very higher than a domestic about the imports. But the sales ratio of the lens was a little bit higher than a domestic about the imports. The glasses price in which it is sold the most was 500,000 won betweens in 300,000 won. The sale was concentrated than a weekday on weekend. While a summer became close, a sale increased and after decreased gradually.

Measurement dose of Dental Panoramagraphy using a Radiophotoluminescent Glass Rod Detector (유리선량계를 이용한 파노라마 검사의 피폭선량 측정)

  • Exposed dose of a patient was measured by Radiophotoluminescent Glass Rod Detector with a use of a panorama graphic device in dental examination. The effect of exposed dose in optic lens was measured by comparing the different materials of the glasses. Depending on the dental location, the exposed dose distribution was 82.4~2,340uSv. It showed that the maximum difference in dose distribution was over 300%. Thus, when manufacturing the devices, it seemed to require shortening the pre-heat time and additional shielding in order to control the diagnosis and exposed dose. The measurement data of the exposed dose in optic lens was increased 20~75uSv per each test when compared putting on glasses with not wearing. As a result, taking off the glasses is recommended to improve efficiency of the test and minimize the exposed dose during dental panorama graphic examinations.

  • In this paper, resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS) was used to determine the natural frequency of a ceramic ferrule and a ball lens. The ceramic ferrules are cylinderical shape with $\phi$ 2.56mm diameter and l0mm in length. Crack lengths of these ferrules are 10.40$\mu$m, 21.18$\mu$m and 32.35$\mu$m. The spherical ball lens was made of BK-7 glass, one's diameter in 2mm and 5mm. RUS system is consisted of spectrum analyzer, power amplifier, PZT sensor and support frame. The principle of RUS is that the mechanical resonant frequency of the materials depends on density and the coefficient of elasticity. Rus system is based on that given resonant frequency of the materials can be represented by the function of density and the coefficient of elasticity, and it is applied to excite specimen and to inspect the difference of natural frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and defective ones. Defect evaluation by RUS are performed to investigate the natural frequency measure of ferrule and ball lens.

Design and Fabrication of Low Cost Infrared Optical System Using Precision Glass Molding Lens Made by Chalcogenide Glass (칼코게나이드 유리 소재의 PGM 가공 렌즈를 사용한 저가의 적외선 광학계 설계와 제작)

  • In this paper, for low cost infrared optical equipment, we design and fabricate an infrared optical system for an uncooled detector using PGM(Precision Glass Molding) lenses. The designed infrared optical system has a good athermalization, and the material of all of its lenses is a chalcogenide glass suitable for the PGM method. In addition, we also fabricate the same infrared optical system using SPDT(Single Point Diamond Turning) lenses in order to measure the optical performance of PGM lenses. We measure the MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) of the two infrared optical systems which use the PGM lenses and the SPDT lenses. And then we compare and analyze the images of them both. As a result, we find that they have only a very small difference in optical performance. If the use of PGM lenses increases, we expect to reduce the cost of infrared optical equipment.

A Study of Optimum Molding Condition of Aspheric Glass Lens(I) ; Annealing Condition Effect (비구면 Glass렌즈 최적 성형조건 연구(I) ; 서냉조건효과)

  • 본 연구에서 개발하는 성형렌즈는 그림1과 같이 한쪽 면이 비구면인 평볼록 형상이다. Glass렌즈의 고온압축성형을 위해서는 초정밀 가공기술로 제작된 성형Mold가 필요하며, Mold재질에 따른 성형기술의 확립이 필수적이다. 또한, 성형Mold의 표면과 융착반응이 없는 Glass소재가 요구된다. 본 실험을 위한 성형Mold는 코발트(Co) 함량 0.5 %의 초경합금(WC; 일본, Everloy社, 002K)을 초정밀 연삭가공하여 제작하였다. Glass소재는 전이점(Transformation Point; Tg) $572\;^{\circ}C$,항복점(Yielding Point; At) $630\;^{\circ}C$의 열적 특성을 갖는 K-BK7(일본, Sumita社)을 사용하였으며, d선에서 굴절률 및 아베수는 각각 1.51633, 64.1이다. 비구면 Glass렌즈 성형은 GMP(Glass Molding Press; 일본, Sumitomo社, Nano Press-S)장비를 사용하여 성형온도 $625\;^{\circ}C$, 서냉온도 $550\;^{\circ}C$로 고정하고 성형압력를 200-800 N 범위에서 변화시켰다. 표 1에 성형변수로 사용한 서냉속도와 서냉전환온도 조건을 나타낸다. 표1과 같이 각 서냉조건별로5장의 렌즈를 성형 후 특성값이 평균치에 가까운 3장을 선별하여 그 특성을 비교하였다. 각 조건에 따른 성형렌즈의 형상정도(일본, Panasonic社, UA3P, 자유곡면형상측정기), 두께(일본, Mitutoyo社, MDC-25M, 마이크로메터), 굴절률(일본, Shimatus社, KPR-200, 정밀굴절률측정기) 및 MTF[해상도](독일, Trioptics社, Image Master HR, MTF-Field)를 측정하여 각각의 광학적 특성을 비교 평가하였다. 비구면 Glass렌즈 성형장비와 형상측정기를 그림 2, 3에 각각 나타낸다.
