  • Purpose: This study was to identify the meaning of the experience of 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provide fundamental materials to improve nursing interventions. Methods: The participants were six female students who gave consent to participate in this study. This study was conducted between August 2006 and November 2006. Each interview took one to three hours. The contents of the interviews were recorded and dictated afterwards. In addition, the interviews were carried out such a way that the gathered information was sufficiently saturated. The data was analyzed with the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi (1985). Results: As a result of analysis, the following have been identified.: proper dietary treatment, proper physical treatment, harmonized psychological treatment, environmental-friendly treatment, and hypersensitivity to the mass media. Conclusions: The finding of this study offers profound information on the 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provides fundamental materials to improve the quality of nursing interventions.

  • Recently, the birth rate of congenitally anomalic babies is increasing in Korea. But there are few studies and articles in nursing field. So nurses are having difficulties in caring those mothers. This study is to reveal experiences of the mothers with congenitally anomalic babies. Subjects were six and data were gathered by interviews. Data were analyzed by Giorgi's method. Mother's responses were organized into five categories-shock, sadness, expectation, attribution and loss of confidence on future pregnancies. Loss of confidence on future pregnancies were categories which were not found in foreign articles. Based on the result of this study, author recommend that another studies which deal only same anomaly will be done, and genetic counseling system will be organized in hospitals.

  • Purpose: This study was intended to explore the essential structure and the meanings of childbirth experiences among Korean women participated in Lamaze childbirth education. Methods: Giorgi's phenomenological method was used to analyze data collected by in-depth interviews with six primiparous women from March to July 2009. Results: Five components identified in the meanings of experience: 'Simplicity', 'Self-control', 'Uncontrollable pain', 'Spiritual maturity', 'Physiologic event'. Conclusion: The study results revealed that the childbirth experience was positive generally, partially influenced by Lamaze childbirth education. But, meanings of childbirth experience with Lamaze childbirth education were mostly physiological respect related to labor pain or one's own efforts to endure labor pain. Therefore, nursing strategies for drawing emotional and socio-environmental experiences from childbirth experience with Lamaze childbirth education is needed.

  • In a recent paper [10] we introduced the notion of Levi harmonic map f from an almost contact semi-Riemannian manifold (M, ${\varphi}$, ${\xi}$, ${\eta}$, g) into a semi-Riemannian manifold $M^{\prime}$. In particular, we compute the tension field ${\tau}_H(f)$ for a CR map f between two almost contact semi-Riemannian manifolds satisfying the so-called ${\varphi}$-condition, where $H=Ker({\eta})$ is the Levi distribution. In the present paper we show that the condition (A) of Rawnsley [17] is related to the ${\varphi}$-condition. Then, we compute the tension field ${\tau}_H(f)$ for a CR map between two arbitrary almost contact semi-Riemannian manifolds, and we study the concept of Levi pluriharmonicity. Moreover, we study the harmonicity on quasicosymplectic manifolds.

  • In this study, the stress and experience of overcoming stress by on-site missionaries who rescue North Korean defectors was investigated in depth through a phenomenological approach. To this end, 7 missionaries with more than 5 years of experience in North Korean missionary mission were selected, and in-depth interviews and written interviews were conducted once. The collected data were analyzed through the phenomenological research methods of Giorgi and Colaizzi. The results were categorized into 'calling and obedience', 'mission and stress', 'anxiety situation and stress', 'stress situation and frustration', 'stress experience and psychological change', 'self insight and overcoming stress', 'resolution and recovery of stress', and 'new determination and rededication'. By researching and analyzing the stress and stress experience of the missionaries who rescue North Korean defectors in the field, this study has significance for helping missionaries continue to help them through managing and overcoming their stress.

Methods: This study employed a qualitative research design. Seven mothers of preschoolers with atopic dermatitis were interviewed and the data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological method. Results: Five main themes and 12 theme clusters emerged. The 5 main themes were 1) the mother's enduring heartache from the conflict that arise among family members, 2) the complete loss of daily happiness, 3) the steady stream of emotional fluctuations, 4) struggling to bear the heavy financial burden, and, 5) a life of hope accompanied by stress. Conclusion: The results of this study provide an in-depth understanding of stress among mothers of preschoolers with atopic dermatitis. These results can be used in the development of nursing interventions to provide psychological and emotional support for mothers and family members.
