  • Inlet fluid temperature of the BRE in the geothermal heat pump system depends on heat exchange rate between the refrigerant of the heat pump and the leaving fluid from the BRE. Because the outlet fluid temperature of the BHE varies with time, inlet fluid temperature has to vary with time. In this study, the module to calculate inlet fluid temperature is developed, which can consider the time-varying outlet fluid temperature and the heat exchange capacity of the heat pump. It is assumed that heat loss or gain of the leaving fluid from outlet to inlet of the BHE is negligible, except when the fluid contacts with the refrigerant of the heat pump. This module is combined with TOUGHREACT, a widely accepted three-dimensional numerical simulator for heat and water flow and geochemical reactions in geothermal systems and is applied to data analyses of the thermal response test.

  • Importance of alternative energy has been increasing due to environmental issues and lack of fossil fuels. In addition, heating cost that occupies from 30 to $40\%$ of the total production cost in the protected cultivation sector in Korea needs to be reduced for profitability and global competition. But, study on geothermal energy to solve these problems has not been activated for Korean protected cultivation. This study was conducted to develop an optimized geothermal exchange system through fundamental test of heat transfer characteristics in soil such as thermal diffusivity, changes in soil temperature during heating and cooling operations, and restorations of soil temperature after the heater was fumed off, These issues were investigated using computer simulation for different depths. The simulated characteristics were evaluated through controlled tests. Simulated characteristics of heat transfer in the soil at different depths showed a reasonable agreement with the results of the controlled tests. All of computer simulation and controlled tests, soil temperatures changed at 10cm and 20cm distance from pipe. but don't change at more than 30cm distance. It means that distances of heat transfer of the soil ranged from 20 to 30cm a day. Based on these results, the optimum spacing between adjacent heat exchange pipes and the pitch were selected as 50 and 40cm, respectively.

  • An earth tube soil air heat exchange system was designed, installed and operated as a single pass heat exchanger to utilize the geothermal energy as an natural energy source. This study was undertaken to investigate the potential of the heating and cooling, energy gain, heat exchange efficiency and coefficient of performance of the system. The system consisted of 30m in length and 30cm in diameter polyethylene pipes buried 2m deep in soil. Maximum heating and cooling performance were 2.51㎾ and 1.26㎾ at the air mass rate of 21cmm. Energy gain and coefficient of performance were the function of temperature difference between outside air and soil temperature. They were expressed as Q=0.33$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.134(㎾) for energy gain and COP=0.44$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.178 for coefficient of performance with correlation factor of 0.95. The mean of heat exchange efficiencies was 85.6%.

주상복합 건축물의 기초 슬래브에 설치된 수평형 지열교환기의 계절별 성능평가 (A Study on the Seasonal Performances Evaluation of the Horizontal-type Geothermal Heat Exchanger Installed in the Foundation Slabs of Complex Building)

  • This study evaluates the seasonal performances of the horizontal-type geothermal heat exchanger(HGHEX) installed into the foundation slabs of the complex building located at Seoul. The geothermal system is consisted with totally 31,860m long HGHEX, 16 GSHPs (Ground-source Heat Pump) and 8 circulation pumps. This system supplies cooling and heating to the lobby(F1) and the common spaces(BF1). The average heat exchange temperature differences are $2.7^{\circ}C\;and\;2.5^{\circ}C$ in the summer, $1.5^{\circ}C\;and\;0.5^{\circ}C$ in the winter for the F1 and BF1 respectively. From these results, approximately 400Gcal and 180Gcal of geothermal energy are assumed to have been used during the summer and winter seasons respectively. As a conclusion, the geothermal system is reviewed as a effective utility for heating and cooling at the point of seasonal performances.

  • The heating and cooling air conditioning field has been increasing the problems of energy consumption and global warming in the world. A geothermal heat pump has been known as one of the highest efficient heating and cooling system. In this study, the analysis about the test standards of the geothermal heat pump of the Republic of Korea was executed. From the research, the following results were given. It is needed to address the domestic test standard for direct heat exchange geothermal heat pump. Water to air multi geothermal heat pump test standard was only developed in Korea. The test standard to calculate a seasonal energy efficiency ratio for cooling period and heat seasonal performance factor for heating period should be newly developed to estimate actual annual energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission.

  • This paper presents a feasibility study of a fresh air load reduction system by using an underground double floor space. The fresh air is introduced into the double slab space and passes through the opening bored into the footing beam. The air is cooled by the heat exchange with the inside surface of the double slab space in summer, and heated in winter. This system not only reduces sensible heat load of the fresh air by heat exchange with earth but also reduces latent heat load of the fresh air by ad/de-sorption of underground double slab concrete. In this paper, we investigated the correlation between outdoor air temperature and outlet air temperature in the system. In conclusion, from the results of the high correlation we proposed a equation of regression for the outlet air temperature in the system by using linear regression analysis.

  • Recently, as the demand for sustainable energy sources is increasing, ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems are receiving growing attention. However, the initial cost of GSHP system is higher than it of the conventional systems, especially, in small-size buildings. Therefore, for the application to the small-size building, it is necessary to develop small-size ground heat exchanger with small-size buildings. In this study, analysis of unit-type heat exchanger due to grouting materials. As a result, 1492.14 W of heat exchange rate was acquired in the condition of cement-silica sand-graphite materials.

  • Renewable energy is growing based on low-carbon green energy government policies. According to this policy, geothermal energy is highly efficient and environmental friendly energy which is being recently expanded. However, construction companies are generated disorderly but their ability has not been verified due to the poor geothermal facility which was reported in the media. In the this paper introduce on Busan region's largest geothermal facility, it was confirmed that thermal efficiency of the underground is close to heat exchanger performance. Therefore the study improving the efficiency of underground heat exchange found progressed. The results showed voids between borehole and ground heat exchanger should not be raised. And then geothermal facilities were installed very successfully through the principle grouting operation. As compared to the energy consumption on the basis of operating results energy usage was less than any other heat sources.

  • 최근 들어 경제적이고 친환경적인 에너지 활용을 위하여 지열에너지 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 지반의 열전도도(ground thermal conductivity)와 보어홀 열저항(borehole thermal resistance)은 지열 히트펌프 시스템(geothermal heat pump system)의 설계 과정에서 매우 중요한 변수이다. 본 논문에서는 일반 수직밀폐형에서의 U, W 타입의 지중 열교환기(ground heat exchanger)를 매립지 지반에 설치한 후 100시간 연속 운전 조건으로 현장 열성능 실험(thermal performance test)을 수행하였다. 또한 보어홀 열저항 산정 모델들을 이용하여 열효율을 산정한 후 이를 실험값과 비교하였다. 실험 결과 기존에 주로 적용되고 있는 shape factor(SF) 모델보다 multi-pole과 equivalent diameter(EQD) 모델이 계측값과 잘 일치하였다.

In this paper, we proposed a simplified presumption method for the prediction of cooling and heating performance in the system. In conclusion the proposed method has been verified by comparing with the calculated value of the numerical analysis model by using nonlinear two-dimension hygroscopic question.
