  • To deal with the modern intellectual criminal acts, various efforts have been tried. Especially, it is not difficult to watch the recent activities to analyze the criminal characteristics spatially using computing and GIS technology. In this study, the spatial features and patterns of crime are investigated. Based on the real criminal record in Seoul Korea, the crime is reconstituted with four major categories such as assault, larceny, robbery, and rape. Then the variables are derived based on the theory of criminology. The kernal density analysis is performed to investigate the criminal distribution, and the correlation between the main criminal causes and the criminal outbreak is examined by buffering analysis. In addition, the land price and land usages are correlated with social-economic factors of criminal patterns to produce the final crime map.

  • In this study, we recognized and joined parts of buildings separated during LIDAR point segmentation utilizing scan line characteristics, with an additional function to recognize neighboring relation among point segments. And we applied the relation to suggest a method to recognize earth point segment. From the test, we could confirm that it does not drop down the efficiency of point segmentation to be added with the function of recognizing neighboring relation and it is possibile to combine point segments to form a complete shaped building and to recognize earth point segment.

  • After oil shock, the importance of renewable energy has emerged and it came to the fore again as Korean government declared the policy on low-carbon green growth. Among various renewable energies, it is generally accepted that wind power is the most practical alternative. In this paper we showed the process of producing wind speed map from Gangwon Regional Meteorological Administration's 2008 data. We mapped monthly average and maximum wind speed and compared several interpolation methods applied to the weather data. This wind speed map, which reflects Gangwon's topographical and climatic regional characteristics, is expected to be a good tool for wind farm location analysis.

  • Wind power generation is the natural source energy without pollution, and the highest economic efficiency among renewable energies. Amid the recent development of small wind power generation, wind power generation facilities can be installed in the super high-rise buildings or complexes. It is necessary to conduct analyses on appropriate locations in a bid to promote efficient power generation in those locations. In this study, relative weight of the elements required for the wind power generation were estimated by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process in Busan City, and the characteristics of wind velocity and wind direction in Busan City were expressed. As a result, 'Dadae 1-dong, Cheolma-myeon, Noksan-dong' was selected as the candidate region inside Gangseo-gu, Gijang-gun, Saha-gu by using the geo-spatial information system.

  • In a route plan, the route selection is a complicated problem to consider the spatial distribution and influence through overall related data and objective analysis on the social, economic and technical condition. The developed system in this study was compared and estimated by deciding a practical section for its validity and efficiency. Using Geographic Information System (GIS), the various information required for route selections in database was constructed, the characteristics of subject area by executing three-dimensional terrain analysis was grasped effectively, and the control point through buffering, overlay and location operation was extracted. An optimum route was selected by calculating the sum of alternatives to the sub-criteria weight, and from this result, there is a difference between real route and proposed route according to the prioritization of decision criteria based on the importance. This research could be constructed and applied geospatial information to the reasonable route plan and an optimum route selection efficiently using GIS. Therefore, the applications are presented by applying Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to the decision-making of information needed in route selection.

  • Based on Geo-Spatial Information System(GSIS), we tried to develop three dimensional road simulation system of coastal region considering landscape in Jeju island. The 1:5000 digital map, microstation CAD and Inroads road design programs were used to design coastal road. To estimate landscape effect of the three dimensional road visual simulation we implemented three types road simulations that are the trees planted, the flowers planted and the trees and flowers planted road, respectively. From the study, we found that the three dimensional virtual technique was very useful tool to design the road considering landscape effect in ocean view terrain and to estimate the reasonable road characteristics.

  • Recent planning for bicycle use is relatively low compared to other studies. Although studies for the bicycle roads accessibility are actively underway, those considering topographical elements and characteristics of the user behaviors are very limited. Choosing paths of cyclists is typically influenced by slopes and intersections as well as optimal distance. This study presents a method to find optimal paths considering topographical elements in case of choosing paths for school commuting using bicycles. Conversion formulae suggested here are tested on a Songpa area using round-trip directions and compared with traditional optimal path computation.

  • LBS services is a user-centric location based information service, where its importance has been discussed as an essential engine in an Ubiquitous Age. We aimed to develop an ontology reasoning system that enables users to derive recommended results suitable through selection standard reasoning according to various users' preferences. In order to achieve this goal, we designed the Geo-ontology system which enabled the construction of personal characteristics of users, knowledge on personal preference and knowledge on spatial and geographical preference. We also integrated a function of reasoning relevant information through the construction of Cost Value ontology using multi-criteria decision making by giving weight according to users' preference.

  • On this study, Among the classification methods of land cover using satellite imagery, we compared the classification accuracy of Neural Network Classifier and that of Maximum Likelihood Classifier which has the characteristics of parametric and non-parametric classification method. In the assessment of classification accuracy, we analyzed the classification accuracy about testing area as well as training area that many analysts use generally when assess the classification accuracy. As a result, Neural Network Classifier is superior to Maximum Likelihood Classifier as much as 3% in the classification of training data. When ground reference data is used, we could get poor result from both of classification methods, but we could reach conclusion that the classification result of Neural Network Classifier is superior to the classification result of Maximum Likelihood Classifier as much as 10%.
