Nowadays, as-is BIM generation has been popularly adopted in the architecture, engineering, construction and facility management (AEC/FM) industries. In order to generate a 3D as-is BIM of a structural component, current methods require a registration process that merges different sets of point cloud data obtained from multiple locations, which is time-consuming and registration error-prone. To tackle this limitation, this study proposes a registration-free 3D point cloud data acquisition technique for as-is BIM generation. In this study, small-size mirrors that rotate in both horizontal and vertical direction are used to enable the registration-free data acquisition technique. First, a geometric model that defines the relationship among the mirrors, the laser scanner and the target component is developed. Second, determinations of optimal laser scanner location and mirror location are performed based on the developed geometrical model. To validate the proposed registration-free as-is BIM generation technique, simulation tests are conducted on key construction components including a PC slab and a structural wall. The result demonstrates that the registration-free point cloud data acquisition technique can be applicable in various construction elements including PC elements and structural components for as-is BIM generation.

The linkage framework of surface geometric modeling based on the NURBS and shell finite element analysis is developed in this study. In the geometrically exact shell finite element analysis, the accuracy of the analysis strongly depends upon the accurate computation of the surface geometric quantities. Therefore if we obtain the necessary geometric quantities from the NVRBS surface equation, it's possible to construct the effective linkage framework of surface modeling in the CAD systems and shell finite element analysis using geometrically exact shell finite element. Besides, the linkage framework can be applied to the analysis of general and complex surfaces as well as simple surfaces. In this study, the shell surfaces are generated by interpolating given set of data points based on the NURBS surfaces. These data points usually can be obtained from surface scanning. But the representations of the generated NURBS surface are not same to one another. The accuracy depends on the chosen parameterization methods used in NURBS. Therefore, it is needed to select the suitable parameterization method according to the geometry of the surfaces. To verify the performance and accuracy of our developed linkage framework, we solve several well-known benchmark problems and assess the performance of the developed method.
More than 3,000 landslides were occurred by torrential rains in Gangneung area due to the typhoon Rusa in 2002. In order to analyze the landslide origin and its geometric characteristics, 1,365 landslide data were collected from the field survey of Sacheon, Jumunjin, and Yeongok areas in which the intensive landslides took place. The average landslide size in the study area was composed of 10m width, 30m length, and $21^{\circ}{\sim}35^{\circ}$ slope angle, and the plane view of landslides A-type (i.e. wide shape of lower part) that contains approximately 50.5% of the landslides commonly occurred. In particular the area of Sacheon heavily damaged by mountain fires had more occurrence of landslides than other areas. The landslides of uniform tendency of slope direction were examined resulted from the contribution of topographic characteristics due to the weathering and wind direction during heavy rainfalls. In order to analyze the direction of joint, 249 orientation data were collected from the study area. The window method was employed to determine the characteristics of joint density in 51 locations of the study area. The results showed that many landslides occurred in the areas of joint density with the range of $0.05{\sim}0.1$.

This paper is to model a 3D-shape product applying mathematically the data acquired from a 30 scanner and using an Automatic Design Program. The research studied in th reverse engineering up to now has been developed continuously and surprisingly. However, forming 3D-shape sol id models in CAE and CAM. based on the research, the study leaves much to be desired. Especially, analyses and studies reverse-designing automatically using measured data after manufacturing. Consequently, we are going to acquire geometric data using an 30 scanner in this study with which we will open a new field of reverse engineering by a program which can design a 3D-shape solid model in a CDA-based program automatically. Utilization of this program make it possible to minimize time in designing a product and establish a ADS(Automatic design system) program library to using all of the data from reverse engineering.

KARI has prepared Calibration and Validation activities for the KOMPSAT-2 (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2) MSC data that will be launched at the end of this year. Firstly, we divided the Cal/Val activities of it to four parts, Spatial, Spectral, Radiometric and Geometric, and defmed the detailed Cal/Val items from them. Secondly, Cal/Val targets have been defined and manufactured for the role of them. Thirdly, we have made the plan and the procedure for the Cal/Val items, developed the codes for them, studied more detailed method to do them, and trained the Cal/Val activities using the foreign satellite image data by ourselves. KARI has been now setting up the KOMPSAT-2 LEOP plan with the Cal/Val activities, and probably will finish the EOP Cal/Val activities for the KOMPSAT-2 MSC data by the next April or May.
Given an $n \times p$ data matrix, if we add the $p_s$ variables somewhat different nature than the p variables to this matrix, we have a new $n \times (p+p_s)$ data matrix. Because of these $p_s$ variables, the traditional principal component analysis can't provide its efficient results. In this study, to improve this problem we review the supplementary principal component analysis putting $p_s$ variables to supplementary variable. This technique is based on the algebraic and geometric aspects of the traditional principal component analysis. So we provide a type of statistical data analysis for the records of eight teams and fourteen fields of the 1982-1992 Korean Pro Baseball Data based on the supplementary principal component analysis and the traditional principal component analysis. And we compare the their results.
The western coast of South Korea is famous for its large and broad tidal lands. Nevertheless, land reclamation, which has been conducted on a large scale, such as Sihwa embankment construction project has accelerated coastal environmental changes in the embankment inland. For monitoring of environmental change, vegetation change detecting of the embankment inland were carried out and field survey data compared with Landsat TM, ETM+, IKONOS, and EOC satellite remotely sensed data. In order to utilize multi-temporal remotely sensed images effectively, all data set with pixel size were analyzed by same geometric correction method. To detect the tidal land vegetation change, the spectral characteristics and spatial resolution of Landsat TM and ETM+ images were analyzed by SMA(spectral mixture analysis). We obtained the 78.96% classification accuracy and Kappa index 0.2376 using March 2000 Landsat data. The SMA(spectral mixture analysis) results were considered with comparing of vegetation seasonal change detection method.

Most of current watermarking algorithms for GIS vector data embed copyright information by means of modifying the coordinate values, which will do harm to its quality and accuracy. To preserve the fidelity of vector line data and protect its copyright at the same time, a lossless watermarking algorithm is proposed based on storage feature in this paper. Firstly, the superiority of embedding watermark based on storage feature is demonstrated theoretically and technically. Then, the basic concepts and operations on storage feature have been defined including length and angle of the polyline feature. In the process of embedding watermark, the watermark information is embedded into directions of polyline feature by the quantitative mechanism, while the positions of embedding watermark are determined by the feature length. Hence, the watermark can be extracted by the same geometric features without original data or watermark. Finally, experiments have been conducted to show that coordinate values remain unchanged after embedding watermark. Moreover, experimental results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

In this study, we propose an object identification method for bin-picking developed for industrial robots. We identify the grasp posture and the associated geometric parameters of grasp objects using the joint data of a robotic gripper. Prior to grasp identification, we analyze the grasping motion in a low-dimensional space using principle component analysis (PCA) to reduce the dimensions. We collected the joint data from a human hand to demonstrate the grasp-identification algorithm. For data acquisition of the human grasp data, we conducted additional research on the motion characteristics of a human hand. We explain the method for using the algorithm of grasp identification for bin-picking. Finally, we present a subject for future research using our proposed algorithm of grasp model and identification.

Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) has received considerable attention due to its effectiveness of reducing high dimensional data and importance of producing a parts-based image representation. Most of existing NMF variants attempt to address the assertion that the observed data distribute on a nonlinear low-dimensional manifold. However, recent research results showed that not only the observed data but also the features lie on the low-dimensional manifolds. In addition, a few hard priori label information is available and thus helps to uncover the intrinsic geometrical and discriminative structures of the data space. Motivated by the two aspects above mentioned, we propose a novel algorithm to enhance the effectiveness of image representation, called Dual graph-regularized Constrained Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (DCNMF). The underlying philosophy of the proposed method is that it not only considers the geometric structures of the data manifold and the feature manifold simultaneously, but also mines valuable information from a few known labeled examples. These schemes will improve the performance of image representation and thus enhance the effectiveness of image classification. Extensive experiments on common benchmarks demonstrated that DCNMF has its superiority in image classification compared with state-of-the-art methods.
