A Study on the Evaluation System for NGIS (국가GIS사업 평가체계 구축방안 연구)

  • National Geographic Information Systems(NGIS) started from 1995 has greatly contributed to building GIS infrastructures and developing GIS industries. To evaluate effectiveness and achievement of NGIS, it is required to build a policy evaluation model for NGIS. This study examined prior research works on GIS policy evaluation system and analyzed limitations of them. Then, it established a model for NGIS evaluation system. The study will contribute to removing unnecessary and duplicate efforts in NGIS project by providing an efficient mean for relict evaluation. It will also heir successful implementations of NGIS.

  • 국가지리 정보체계 (NGiS: National Geographic information Systems) 기본계획 하에서 국가수치기본도가 완성되었음에도 불구하고 교통부문에 GIS의 활용이 미흡하다. 그 이유는 기존 교통관련 S/W가 교통GIS DB를 받아들일 수 없기 때문이다. 이러한 시점에서 본 연구에서는 NGIS에 기초한 교통GIS DB의 이용활성화의 일환으로 교통GIS DB와 기존 교통계획S/W와 상호 Interface할 수 있는 전환 모듈을 개발하였다. 구체적으로는 기존 GIS S/W를 활용하여 교통GIS DB와 기존 교통계획 S/W인 TRANPLAN간의 연계모듈을 개발하였다. 최종적으로는 개발한 연계모듈을 서울시 강남구, 서초구와 경기도 과천시, 용인시에 걸친 일대를 시범지역으로 적용해보았다.

  • Building Information Models(BIM) provides rich geometric and attribute information throughout the entire life cycle of a building and infrastructure object, while Geographic Information System(GIS) enables the detail analysis of urban issues based on the geo-spatial information in support of decision-making. The Integration of BIM and GIS data makes it possible to create a digital twin of the land in order to effectively manage smart cities. In the perspective of integrating BIM data into GIS systems, this study performs literature reviews on georeferencing techniques and identifies limitations in carrying out the georeferencing process using attribute information associated with absolute coordinates probided by Industry Foundation Classes(IFC) as a BIM standard. To address these limitations, an automated georeferencing process is proposed as a pilot study to position a IFC model with the Local Coordinate System(LCS) in GIS environments with the Reference Coordinate System(RCS). An evaluation of the proposed approach over a BIM model demonstrates that the proposed method is expected to be a great help for automatically georeferencing complex BIM models in a GIS environment, and thus provides benefits for efficient and reliable BIM and GIS integration in practice.

Study about the Applicable Plan of GIS on Range of Magnetic Field Emitted from 60 Hz Powerline (60Hz 고압 송전선로의 자기장 발생범위에 대한 GIS 적용 방안에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated the applicable plan of GIS on the environmental impact assessment of 60 Hz Powerline. So we assessed distance data based on calculations by use of 2D and 3D Geographical information systems(GIS) and distance data based on measurements on 1: 5000 maps accord with on site distance measurements to use input data for calculating magnetic field. One hundred eight of the on site measured addresses were selected from residences. The data were achieved by measuring the distance between residence and power line on maps with scales of 1: 5000. The digital map was obtained from National Geographic Information Institute with scales of 1: 5000, and we made 2D and 3D map. Correlation analyses were performed for statistical analyses. For the 3D GIS versus on site comparison of different exposure categories, 70 of 108 measurements were assigned to the correct category. Similarly for 2D GIS versus on site comparison, 71 of 108 were correctly categorized. When comparing map measurement with on site measurement, 62 of 108 were correctly categorized. When the correlation analysis was performed, best correlation was found between 3D GIS and on site measurements with r = 0.84947 (p<0.0001). The correlation between map and on site measurement yielded an r of 0.76517 (p<0.0001). Since the GIS measurements and map measurement were made from the center point in the building and the on site measurements had to be made from the closest wall on the building, this might introduce and additional error in urban areas. The difference between 2D and 3D calculations were resulted from the height of buildings.

  • For the effective use of spatial data, it is necessary to translate the diverse digital map data (here, digital map for car navigation system) into common GIS data structure(here, ARC/INFO). For this purpose, analysis on the structure of the established digital map was fulfilled, the data model for effective translation tool was designed. As a result, the possibility to translate diverse digital map structures (database) into GIS tools and to share them, with the users' point of view, was successfully verified.

  • Road guide sign is one of important traffic facility, which guides a driver a direction to go. A road is being newly built and/or an existing road can be temporarily closed very often at metropolitan area. Such information has to be linked to a road guide sign and to be updated in time. Otherwise, it might cause not only confusion to a driver but also traffic accident and/or traffic congestion. However, road guide signs are not properly managed at this time since the amounts of information are huge and they are being managed through paper maps manually. A decision-making framework has been developed to manage a variety of information of road guide signs based on the concept of GIS(Geographic Information Systems). Especially, it is designed on the fact that the existing national digital base maps under the NGIS(National Geographic Information Systems) program can be utilized. This framework has several functions such as the manipulation of statistics, landmark linkages along the selected traffic corridor and automatic design of signboard's content. This system is applied to the Kangnam district in Seoul Metropolitan area (SMA) for a case study.

  • It was investigated to find the concept of the distance teaming, its characteristics and components, and to present successful strategies for the development of the GIS(Geographic Information Systems) programs for the online university. The elements of these successful strategies would be as follows. The models considered for the educational environment and characteristics, relationships between professor and student, community constructions for sharing the educational information, various courses based on the level, and linkages among various GIS programs.

A Study on the Integration GIS with Hydrodynamic Model (GIS와 해수유동모델의 연계방안 연구)

  • The integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with the hydrodynamic model was conducted in order to revitalize the use of geographical information and to aid in the understanding of tidal circulation patterns. A 2D finite difference numerical model was used to simulate n tidal circulation in the Suyoung Bay in Busan, Korea. CIS, especially the ArcView S/W is used to input the data of the numerical model, and is also used for the visualization of model outputs on the ground in the loosely coupled method. In this paper, an electronic navigational chart (ENC), which provides more accurate information in the ocean and coastal areas than any other digital information, is used as a base map for this integration. With the help of GIS, the integration can support th understanding of oceanographic information.

  • As computer systems of high capacity and high performance recently emerged, various researches about GISs(Geographic Information Systems) have been in progress and many GIS applications have also been developed. From the domestic situation where many people are using mobile devices, because of the recent advances in the mobile technology, we can infer that the time will come when every individual will carry a mobile device with a GPS(Global Positioning System) module resulting from the development of a miniature GPS Module. Therefore, a mobile GIS that can allows users to deal with dynamic GIS data management and perform their tasks while moving will be required. This paper discusses the design and implementation of a mobile GIS using the shareware DBMS, called postgresSQL. The Mobile GIS in which a mobile concept is utilized at the GIS data server makes it possible to insert, delete, update GIS data, to zoom in and zoom out displayed maps, and to locate the user's position on the client device. Therefore, It is possible to manage dynamic GIS data in order to deal with GIS data on the maps while moving, connect various GIS data servers through the middleware, and connected with ITS (Intelligent Transport System) which is one of applications of the Mobile GIS developed in this paper.
