  • The conceptual design of turbine-driven air-cooled 100 MW generator is presented. The generators rating is 100 MW 3-phase 2pole 13.8 kV 0.85 pf 60 Hz. The conceptual design is described by the process of designing the stator, rotor, and obtaining some of equivalent circuit parameters. The design process starts from the output coefficient G, and utilizes the classical design equations with parameters used in the modern designs. The slot dimensions of the stator and rotor are obtained with their respective winding dimensions.

  • Generator protection device has to detects an internal fault conditions in generator and abnormal operating conditions must be due to the hazards. Loss of excitation may cause generator itself failure as well as serious operating problem in power system, and then requires an appropriate response of generator protection device. Details modeling of generator control system and analysis of transient states in generator are important for optimal operation in power plants. In addition, the fault simulation data are also used for testing the characteristics of IED. In this paper, the hydro generator control system using PSCAD/EMTDC, visual simulation for power systems, was modeled. The generator control system which is composed of generator, turbine, exciter, governor was implemented. The parameters of generator control system model were obtained from field power plant. Loss of excitation simulations were performed while varying the fixed load. Several signals analysis were also performed so as to analyze transients phenomena.

  • A good arithmetic random number generator should possess full period, uniformity and independence, etc. To obtain the excellent random number generator, many researchers have found good parameters. Also an initial seed is the important factor in random number generator. But, there is no theoretical guideline for using the initial seeds. Therefore, random number generator is usually used with the arbitrary initial seed. Through the empirical tests, we show that the choice of the initial values for the seed is important to generate good random numbers.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive generalized predictive control with feedforward algorithm for steam generator level control in nuclear power plant. The proposed algorithm is shown that the parameters of N-step ahead predictors can be obtained using the parameters of one-step ahead predictor which is derived from plant model with feedforward. Using this property the proposed scheme is an adaptive algorithm which consists of GPC method and the recursive least squares algorithm for identifying the parameters of one-step ahead predictor. Also, computer simulations are performed to evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm using a mathematical model of PWR steam generator Simulation results show good performances for load variation. And the proposed algorithm shows better responses than PI controller does.

플럭스 펌프 적용을 위한 대용량 초전도 풍력발전기 파라미터 튜닝 (Parameter tuning of a large-scale superconducting wind power generator for applying a flux pump)

  • A flux pump (FP) can inject the DC current into high temperature superconducting (HTS) field coils of a HTS rotating machine without slip ring and current lead. However, it has limits to improve the value of DC current, and has time constants of DC current according to inductances of the HTS field coils. When a large-scale HTS generator with the FP is designed, a proper point about the inductance, field current, and time constant is demanded to decide parameters of the generator. In this paper, a parameter tuning skill of a large-scale superconducting wind power generator for applying a FP has been proposed. The design of the FP has been fixed, and 12 MW HTS generators have been variously designed by adjusting parameters related with the inductance of the HTS field coil. The induced current values have been calculated based on the FP design. The time constants of the induced currents depending on the DC current values and inductances of the generator have been represented. The results of the parameter tuning of the HTS generator have been discussed in detail.

Parametric Analysis and Design of SDOF Vibration-Type Triboelectric Generator

  • A triboelectric generator uses the principles of static electrification and electrostatic induction to convert mechanical energy into useful electrical energy. In this work we study a single degree of freedom (SDOF) vibration type triboelectric generator that is initiated by a vibrating source at its base. The system is modeled in Abaqus and the design parameters are systematically explored by their effect on the output. The relationships between the parameters: input force, input frequency, mass, spring stiffness and gap between the plates, are analyzed. Finally, based on initial experiments, and simulation results, a design methodology is formulated. The methodology will provide guidance for application specific design of reliable and effective vibration type triboelectric generators.

  • This paper describes the practical tuning method of dual-input PSS and its application to Muju P/P #2 with Proto PSS, which is based on DSP technology and uses both frequency and power. First, the model parameters of generator system used in this paper have been derived from the generator characteristic testing. Then, in the selection of PSS parameters, the Bode plot is plotted in order to tune the PSS's time constants which are able to compensate the phase lagging due to generator and excitation system. In addition, the eigenvalue analysis is also performed for determining a reliable PSS gain, $K_{s}$. Finally, the transient stability program has been utilized to verify the safe operation of Proto PSS against the predictable disturbances such as the AVR-step test and generator unloading test. In on-site test, the simulated results have been identically duplicated by implementing AVR step test in Muju P/P #2 with Proto PSS, which has the previously designed PSS parameters.s.

폭발형 고섬광 발생장치의 설계 변수에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Design Parameters of Explosive-driven High-intensity Flash Generator)

  • 목표 대상을 치명적이거나 파괴하지 않고 제압할 수 있는 무기를 비살상무기라 하며, 그중 고섬광발생장치는 강한 섬광으로 적의 광학센서를 무력화시키거나 시력을 일시적으로 마비시키는 무기체계이다. 본 연구에서는 고폭화약에 의한 충격파로 인해 발생한 플라즈마를 이용한 폭발형 고섬광발생장치의 형상에 대한 설계 방안을 도출하여 시료를 제작하고 광학센서를 사용한 기초시험을 수행하였다. 또한, 시험결과를 분석하여 설계 변수에 따른 고섬광 효과를 최대화시키는 방안을 도출하고자 한다. 충전가스 종류로 아르곤보다 제논의 경우 2배 가량 광도가 높게 나타났으며, 비활성가스가 광도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 비교로써 공기보다 제논의 경우 4배 가량 광도가 높게 나타났다. 또한, 화약량이 증가할수록 원주방향으로 전달되는 충격파가 도달할 수 있는 단면적이 증가할수록 광도가 증가함을 알 수 있었으며, 단일기폭보다 이중기폭의 경우 광원이 2배가 되어 광도도 2배됨을 입증하였다.

사출성능 개선을 위한 사출용 가스발생기 연구 (Research on the Ejection Gas Generator to Improve Ejecting Performance)

  • 유도탄의 사출성능 중 탄에 충격으로 작용하는 최대가속도의 감소는 유도탄의 비정상작동 방지와 내부 부품들의 크기 및 비용 감소 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 사출용 가스발생기의 작동에 의해 탄에 가해지는 최대가속도가 사출초기에 발생됨을 착안하여 사출초기에 영향을 미치는 설계인자를 조사하였다. 가스발생기 설계인자로 점화기 및 노즐마개를 선정하고, 설계인자 변경을 통해 가스발생기에 의해 발생되는 최대가속도를 실험적으로 조사하였다. 최종적으로 최대가속도 감소효과를 정량적으로 비교하기 위해 가스발생기 지상연소시험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 설계인자의 최적값들이 적용된 개선모델의 경우 기준모델에 비해 최대가속도를 약 68% 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다.
