  • A fresh water generation system is designed for converting brackish water or seawater into fresh water. In this paper fresh water generation by distillation process that evaporates feed water and subsequently condenses vapor as evaporation product to get fresh water was studied and city water was employed as feed water. The system uses the ejector to create a vacuum, under which liquid can be evaporated at lower temperature than it at normal or atmospheric condition, hence less energy consumption. The effect of various operating conditions i.e. temperature of feed water and different orifice diameters were studied experimentally to investigate the characteristic of the system. It was found that these parameters have significant effect in the performance of fresh water generation system with low pressure evaporation.

  • In this paper, a protection system using Multi-Agent concept for power distribution network is proposed. Multi agent system consist of Feeder agent, OCR(Over Current Relay) agent, Recloser agent and Switch agent. An agent calculates and corrects its parameter by itself through communication with neighboring agents and its own intelligence algorithm. Simulations in a simple distribution network show the effectiveness of the suggested protection system. Multi-Agent System, protection of distribution network, Communication.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to develop a distributed representative human model(DRHM) generation and analysis system. Background: DRHMs are used for a product with multiple-size categories such as clothing and shoes. It is not easy for a product designer to explore an optimal sizing system by applying various distributed methods because of their complexity and time demand. Method: Studies related to DRHM generation were reviewed and the RHM generation interfaces of three digital human model simulation systems(Jack$^{(R)}$, RAMSIS$^{(R)}$, and CATIA Human$^{(R)}$) were reviewed. Results: DRHM generation steps are implemented by providing sophisticated interfaces which offer various statistical techniques and visualization methods with ease. Conclusion: The DRHM system can analyze the multivariate accommodation percentage of a sizing system, provide body sizes of generated DRHMs, and visualize generated grids and DRHMs. Application: The DRHM generation and analysis system can be of great use to determine an optimal sizing system for a multiple-size product by comparing various sizing system candidates.

  • Photovoltaic power generation system is one of new renewable energy sources. Such distributed power generation system has important issues for the system management ad operating after its installation. To solve the problem, remote monitoring and control systems can be employed. In this paper, LabVBEW based monitoring and control system is proposed for efficient management and operation of the photovoltaic power generation system. Interface method between monitoring part and DSP controller is given in detail. The proposed system is verified through experiments using a grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system.

  • This paper designs and implements a sentence generation for an augmentive and alternative communication system(AAC). The AAC system is assistive communication device to help the mute language disorder communicate more freely and the system have an objected to reduce time and keystrokes for sentence generating. The paper of sentence generation make up for merits and demerits in the existing sentence generation method and in order to sentence generation. One aspect of Korean language that confines nouns defending on the verbs or postpositional words is used for sentence generation. The distinctive feature of this paper is to connect verbs to nouns using domain knowledge. We utilize the lexical information that exploits characteristics of Korean language for sentence generation. A comparison with other approaches is also presented. This sentence generation is based on lexical information by extracting characteristics of sentences.

  • Recently, great efforts are concentrated on the autonomous, adaptive protection schemes with advanced artificial intelligence and digital technology. It is highly required for a next generation protective system not only to detect and to clear a fault, but also to fit itself to the changing environment. In this paper it is suggested an evaluation method for the protection ability of a protective system in a distributed system. The suggested method is of bottom-up scheme, in other words, protection ability is estimated from the lowest level of parameters in each protective devices to the highest level of the whole protective system. This feature makes it possible to evaluate the protection ability either for the protective device(or a system), or for a protected system. And, in addition, it is enabled that the protectability concept can be applied in the design stage of a protective system for a distribution network. The proposed method is applied to a simple distributed network to show its effectiveness.

  • A wind-heat generation system was developed and the system consisted of an electric motor, a heat generation drum, a heat exchanger, two circulation pumps and a water storage tank. The heat generation drum is an essential element determining performance of the system. Frictional heat was generated by rotation of a rotor in the drum filled with a working fluid, and the heat stored in the fluid was used to increase water temperature through the heat exchanger. Effects of some factors such as rotor shape, kind and amount of working fluid, rotor rpm and water flow rate in the heat exchanger, affecting the system performance were investigated. Amounts of heat generated were varied, ranging from 126,000 to 32,760 kJ/hr, depending on combination of the factors. Statistical analysis using GLM procedure revealed that the most influential factor to decide the system performance was amount of the fluid in the drum. Experiments showed that the faster the speed of the rotor, the greater heat was obtained. The greatest efficiency of the heat generation system, electric power consumption rate vs gained heat amount of water, was about 70%. Though the heat amount was not enough for plant bed heating of a 0.1-ha greenhouse, the system would be promising if some supplementary heat source such as air- water heat pump is added.

  • New concept of wind energy conversion system is proposed to increase the energy density at a given working space. The quality of wind for wind power generation is depend on its direction and speed. However, the quality is not good on land because wind direction is changeable all the time and the speed as well. The most popularly operated wind turbine system is an axial-flow free turbine. But its conversion efficiency is less than 30% and even less than 20% considering the operating time. In this research, a cross-flow type wind turbine system is proposed with a convergent-divergent duct system to accelerate the low speed wind at the inlet of the wind turbine. Inlet guide vane is also introduced to the wind turbine system to have continuous power generation under the change of wind direction. In here, the availability of wind energy generation is evaluated with the change of the size of the inlet guide vane and the optimum geometry of the turbine impeller blade was found for the innovative wind power generation system.
