A Introduction Class on the Tidal Power Generation for Elementary School Students by University Students

  • As 10th energy consumption country in the world, it is very important to educate the importance of the energy to the elementary school students. The purpose of this class is to let the pupils understand the mechanisms and performances of tidal power generation as a renewable energy application system. To satisfy the educational goals, a lecture material and a simple type of tidal power generator kit is developed. As the survey result after lecture and experiments which include assembly and test, 'Well understood' is marked as 90% among 58 elementary students, and moreover 70% among them feel to participate in higher level course. This project shows the possibility and effect of the renewable energy education course as a service engineering, which is managed and carried out by undergraduates for pupils under the professor's guide.

  • 본 논문에서는 얼굴영상의 분석을 위하여 필요한 지식의 표현방법과 이를 활용하는 방법에 대하여 살펴본다.얼굴에 대한 모델지식을 계층적인 프레임 구조로 표현하는 방법과,표현된 모델지식을 이용하여 가설 생성및 검증을 수행하는 방법에 대하여 살펴본다.특히,가설생성및 검증의 각 단계에서의 문제영역에 관한 지식들을 어떠한 순서및 절차로 활용할 것인가 하는 문제에 촛점을 맞춘다.

  • At recent, the Internet is evolving into the directions which is capable of incorporating stream-type services such as voice and video services due to the remarkable growth of WWW service and the development of new multimedia application services. However, the existing Internet can only support a best-effort delivery model and thus it is difficult to satisfy these requirements as well as to provide the QoS beyond a certain degree. Accordingly, it is imperative to develop QoS-based routing algorithm in order to allow flexible routing by the Internet user's QoS demand and to be applied into wide area networks. In this paper, we presented new routing algorithms for next generation Internet services and made performance evaluations. The proposed algorithms allow the routing by the user's QoS demand level in order to provide the diverse Internet application services based on ATM network environment that is expected to play a role as an infrastructure of next Generation Internet Services.

  • 1 kW class Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell(PEFC) co-generation systems have been developed from 2001 and evaluated for improvement of efficiency, durability and reliability of the system. This paper introduce new version system including with excellent reliability, durability and user friendly applications. Its electrical and overall efficiency showed 35 % and 80 %, respectively, and noise level of the system was less than 45 dB. In addition, this system have various functions such as load change, $N_2$ less purge, low emission and low temperature operation ($-15^{\circ}C$) through development of operation logic. This system was designed for convenient installation in indoor and outdoor due to the compactness of size and the separation of electrical and heat recovery units, which means a user can select the size of heat recovery unit.

  • The Noise generation mechanisms of propane laminar premixed flames on a slot burner have been studied experimentally. The sound levels and frequencies were measured for various mixture flow rates (velocities) and equivalence ratios. The primary frequency of self-induced noise increases with the mean velocity of mixture as $f{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.144}$ and the measured noise level increases with the mixture flow rate and equivalence ratio as $p{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.7}$$F^{8.2}$. The nature of flame oscillation and the noise generation mechanisms are also investigated using a high speed CCD camera and a DSRL camera. The repetition of sudden extinction at the tip of flame is evident and the repetition rates are identical to the primary frequencies obtained from the FFT analysis of sound pressure signals. CH chemiluminescence intensities of the oscillating flames were also measured by PMT with a 431 nm(10 FWHM) band pass filter and compared to the pressure signals.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of the socialization of family rituals and compare the attitudes between the younger and the older generation. Research data were collected in 2002 from households living in Jinju. The subjects of this study were college students and their mothers. The results of this study were as follows: The socialization of the following family rituals is increasing: the first birthday party, banquets for parents' 60th birthday, wedding anniversaries, employment ceremony, and commencement ceremony. There was significant difference in the attitude between younger and older generations regarding performance of the family rituals.

  • 본 논문은 이차여자 유도발전기시스템의 파력발전시스템에의 적용에 관한 연구내용을 요약한다. 불규칙적인 파력 입력에 따라 변화하는 발전기의 출력을 슬립주파수에 맞추어 컴퓨터로 이차전류를 제어하여 출력전압과 출력전류를 안정화시키고자 하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법을 확인하기 위하여 실험실 레벨의 파력 시뮬레이터를 제작한 후 이차여자 유도발전기를 구동하였다. 파력과 같은 불규칙입력 발전시스템에 대한 이차여자 유도발전 시스템의 유효성을 실험적으로 확인하였다.

Mesh Simplification and Adaptive LOD for Finite Element Mesh Generation

  • In this paper, we propose a new triangular finite element mesh generation method based on simplification of high-density mesh and adaptive Level-of-Detail (LOD) methods for efficient CAE. In our method, mesh simplification is used to control the mesh properties required for FE mesh, such as the number of triangular elements, element shape quality and size while keeping the specified approximation tolerance. Adaptive LOD methods based on vertex hierarchy according to curvature and region of interest, and global LOD method preserving density distributions are also proposed in order to construct a mesh more appropriate for CAE purpose. These methods enable efficient generation of FE meshes with properties appropriate for analysis purpose from a high-density mesh. Finally, the effectiveness of our approach is shown through evaluations of the FE meshes for practical use.

  • This paper introduces a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for UWB communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. Moreover. the system sensitivity to channel noise has made the processes of acquisition and tacking difficult. in this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency applying modulation method. thus could improve the detection performance of receiving algorithm. Also, we made a system to search maximum perk by applying the proposed algorithm and consequently could guarantee the correct detection. By the result of simulation, when accumulate 10 times at every 2dB band shifting from 0 to 18dB on AWGN channel, we could confirm the proposed method has 97.4% PDR(Pulse Detection Rate) and 1.868% FAR(False Alarm Rate) performance at 4dB SNR and 15% transmission power threshold level.

미로 생성 알고리즘을 이용한 디지털 하프토닝 (Digital Halftoning with Maze Generation Algorithm)

  • 하프토닝은 단색으로 다양한 계조의 색단계를 표현하는 방법으로 인쇄 매체와 같은 분야에서 제한된 색으로 다양한 톤을 표현할 수 있도록 해주는 매우 중요한 영상처리기법이다. 본 논문에서는 공간채움곡선 (Space-Filling Curve)에 의한 하프토닝 방법의 대안으로 미로 생성 알고리즘에 기반한 새로운 하프토닝 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 공간채움곡선에 의한 오류 확산방법은 규칙적인 스캔 패턴으로 인해 해프토닝의 결과에도 규칙적인 패턴이 발생한다. 이러한 부분을 개선하기 위해 공간채움곡선 대신 미로의 경로를 사용함으로써 규칙적인 패턴을 제거하였다.
