A Method for Identifying Splice Sites and Translation Start Sites in Human Genomic Sequences

  • We describe a new method for identifying the sequences that signal the start of translation, and the boundaries between exons and introns (donor and acceptor sites) in human mRNA. According to the mandatory keyword, ORGANISM, and feature key, CDS, a large set of standard data for each signal site was extracted from the ASCII flat file, gbpri.seq, in the GenBank release 108.0. This was used to generate the scoring matrices, which summarize the sequence information for each signal site. The scoring matrices take into account the independent nucleotide frequencies between adjacent bases in each position within the signal site regions, and the relative weight on each nucleotide in proportion to their probabilities in the known signal sites. Using a scoring scheme that is based on the nucleotide scoring matrices, the method has great sensitivity and specificity when used to locate signals in uncharacterized human genomic DNA. These matrices are especially effective at distinguishing true and false sites.

  • A heat dissipation technology using flow resonant phenomenon is a kind of new concept in heat transfer area. A vibration exciter is needed to generate an air turbulence which has the natural shedding frequency of a heat system. A mechanical vibrating device for the air flow oscillation is introduced, which is driven by a moving coil actuator. An analytical dynamic model for this mechanical vibration exciter is presented and its validity is verified by the comparison with experimental data. Values of some unko주 system parameters in the analytic model are estimated through the system identification approach. based on this mathematical model, a high bandwidth vibration exciter is designed using feedback control. During the experimental verification phased, it turns out the high frequency modal resonant characteristics of vibrating plate are the major barrier against obtaining a high bandwidth vibration exciter.

  • This study has been accomplished as a experimental study for field application of 3D Perspective Image Map creation using Digital Topographical Map and based on the Ortho-Projection Image which is generated from Satellite Overlay Images and the precise Relative Coordinates of longitude, latitude and altitude which is corrected by GCP(Ground Control Point). AS to Contour Lines Map which is created by Coordinate conversion of 1:5,000 Topographical Map, we firstly made Satellite Image Map to substitute for Digital Topographical Map through overlapping the original images on top of each Ortho-Projection Image created and checking the accuracy. In addition to 3D Image Map creation for 3D Terrain analysis of a target district, Slope Gradient Analysis, Aspect Analysis and Terrain Elevation Model generation, multidirectional 3D Image generation by DEM can be carried out through this study. This study is to develop a mapping technology with which we can generate 3D Satellite Images of a target district through the composition of Digital Maps and Facility Blueprint and arbitrarily create 3D Perspective Images of the target district from any view point.

  • Volatility plays a crucial role in theory and applications of asset pricing, optimal portfolio allocation, and risk management. This paper proposes a combined model of autoregressive moving average (ARFIMA), generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GRACH), and skewed-t error distribution to accommodate important features of volatility data; long memory, heteroscedasticity, and asymmetric error distribution. A fully Bayesian approach is proposed to estimate the parameters of the model simultaneously, which yields parameter estimates satisfying necessary constraints in the model. The approach can be easily implemented using a free and user-friendly software JAGS to generate Markov chain Monte Carlo samples from the joint posterior distribution of the parameters. The method is illustrated by using a daily volatility index from Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). JAGS codes for model specification is provided in the Appendix.

A Study on Automatic Seam Tracking using Vision Sensor (비전센서를 이용한 용접선 자동추적에 관한 연구)

  • A CCD camera with a laser stripe was applied to realized the automatic weld seam tracking. The 3-dimensional information obtained from the vision system made it possible to generate the weld torch path. The adaptive Hough transformation was used to extract laser stripes an to obtain specific weld points. It takes relatively long time to process image on-line control using the basic control using the basic Hough transformation, but it has a tendency of robustness over the noises such as spatter. For this reason, it was complemented with adaptive Hough transformation to have an on-line processing ability for scanning specific weld points. The dead zone, where the sensing of weld line is impossible, was eliminated by rotating the camera with its rotating axis centered at the weld torch. When weld lines were detected, the camera angle was controlled in order to get the minimum image data for sensing of weld lines. Consequently, the image processing time was reduced.

  • This study is to develop a distributed urban flood runoff model that simulates the road runoff and to test the applicability of the model by applying to Pyeongtaek city of $12.2km^2$. To generate the runoff along the runoff, agree burned DEM (Digital Elevation Model) with road networks was suggested and the proper spatial resolution of DEM was identified finer than 15 m. To test the model applicability, 32 points on the road networks were selected and the hydrographs of each point were generated. The test showed reasonable results that increase the road runoff from the high elevation roads to the low elevation roads and the road runoff considering rainwater drainage from the road also showed reasonable results.

  • In this paper, we presents a new disparity map refinement algorithm using statistical characteristics of disparity map and edge information. The proposed algorithm generate a refined disparity map using disparity maps which are obtained from area and feature-based Stereo Matching by selecting a disparity value of edge point based on the statistics of both disparity maps. Experimental results on aerial stereo image show the better results than conventional fusion algorithms in the disparity error. This algorithm can be applied to the reconstruction of building image from the high resolution remote sensing data.

  • The objective of this paper is to examine the structure of technology spillover from UAV(unmanned air vehicle) technology to other industries by applying patents analysis. The network analysis on patent data of USPTO(United Stated Patents and Trademark Office) from 1981 to 2000 was adopted to investigate the characteristic change of the technology spillover The results show that the influence of the UAV technology to other industries has grown over the twenty years period. For the weapon system development, this study provides a research basis to estimate the technology spillover effects on industries. Searching a structural niche from the inter-industrial knowledge flow structure might be a useful technique to find core technologies which generate large technology spillover on the other industries.

  • Recently, research started to focus on Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB), while the DMB service is already being launched to provide high quality audio, video and data broadcasting in Korea. Therefore, the demand for multimedia contents is also rose very sharply. In this paper, we introduced an MPEG-4 contents authoring system with mobile device for Digital Multimedia Broadcasting. Our system allows both single-handed and collaborative authoring modo. Further more, to overcome the delaytime for decoding the BIFS information, we also introduced an efficient algorithm to generate dynamic and light BIFS information.

Effects of Disulfide and Thioether Linkages on Stability and Cytotoxicity of Anti-CALLA Fab-Ricin A Immunotoxins

  • Anti-CALLA Fab-RTA immunotoxins were constructed using two crosslinking agent, SMPT and SMCC, to generate a disulfide and a thioether bridge between Fab fragment of K269-65 MoAb and RTA toxin moieties, respectively. These immunotoxins were selectively immunoreative with CALLA$\^$+/ B-lineage Daudi cells. SMPT and SMCC mediated RTA immunotoxins were prepared with 49% and 53% of the RTA conjugation yields, respectively. SDS-PAGE analysis show that immunotoxins were constructed with major Fab-1 RTA (76kda), minor Fab-2RTA (106kda) and Fab-3RTA (136kda) compositions. The breakdown rates of immunotoxins were determined in the presence of glutathione by measuring the amount of reduced immunotoxins using size-exclusion HPLC. The SMCC immunotoxins were more resistant to the glutathione than SMPT immunotoxins. But, our data showed that the SMPT mediated disulfide bonded immunotoxins were much more active than the SMCC mediated thioether bonded immunotoxins to kill the target cells in vitro.
