Analyzing the Change of Science High School Students' Integrated Process Skills Using Group-based Trajectory Modeling (집단중심 추세모형을 적용한 과학고등학교 학생들의 통합 탐구 기능 변화 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns and characteristics of changes in integrated process skills during the process of science high school students' inquiry by using group-based trajectory modeling. 59 students participated in this study. Three hypothetico-deductive inquiry tasks were used as an intervention activity. We asked science high school students to perform those three tasks sequentially and to generate reports of the process and results. We evaluated students' reports by four elements (designing inquiry, collecting data, analyzing data, and forming conclusion) of the integrated process skills according to the scoring rubric developed by Lee and Park (2017), and analyzed the level of changes in integrated process skills in those three inquiry tasks by using group-based trajectory modeling. In addition, we analyzed the characteristics of changes in integrated process skills from several perspectives. The findings are as follows: First, concerning the change patterns of students' integrated process skills, all of the four elements were classified into two groups, but the change patterns were very different by elements. Second, regarding the change characteristics of students' integrated process skills, we found the context-dependency of integrated process skills, variation of learning progression for integrated process skills, and jaggedness of integrated process skills level. Based on these findings, we suggested that a couple of ways be sought to improve the integrated process skills of science high school students.

Changes of the Abductive Inquiry Performance in Outdoor Geological Fieldwork (야외 지질 답사 교육에서 나타난 귀추적 탐구 수행 특성 변화)

  • In order to provide explanations of the practice of the abductive inquiry-based outdoor geological fieldwork education, this study examined the characteristics of students' performance in geological fieldwork before and after the introduction of explicit learning of geologic knowledge and inquiry. To this end, a 21st-class program was developed in the order of pre-evaluation, initial fieldwork, explicit learning of geologic knowledge and inquiry, and post-evaluation and applied to nine middle school students. As research data, outdoor geological fieldwork class recording data and students' activity sheets were collected and analyzed qualitatively. As a result, during the initial fieldwork, students caught clues of low geological importance and used everyday experience and/or general scientific knowledge as a rule when asked to generate hypotheses about the origin of the clues. Also, students evaluated their hypotheses by the scientific accuracy of the rule or their own criterion. Meanwhile, during the final fieldwork, students frequently caught key clues in geologic perspectives and generated geological event hypotheses related to the clues by borrowing geologic knowledge as a rule. Furthermore, students scientifically evaluated their hypotheses based on the consistency of evidence and rules. Combining these results, the effects of learners' geological knowledge and inquiry (abduction) abilities as a path model were presented in order to help students carry out a proficient abductive inquiry in geological fieldwork.

Exploratory Research on Automating the Analysis of Scientific Argumentation Using Machine Learning (머신 러닝을 활용한 과학 논변 구성 요소 코딩 자동화 가능성 탐색 연구)

  • In this study, we explored the possibility of automating the process of analyzing elements of scientific argument in the context of a Korean classroom. To gather training data, we collected 990 sentences from science education journals that illustrate the results of coding elements of argumentation according to Toulmin's argumentation structure framework. We extracted 483 sentences as a test data set from the transcription of students' discourse in scientific argumentation activities. The words and morphemes of each argument were analyzed using the Python 'KoNLPy' package and the 'Kkma' module for Korean Natural Language Processing. After constructing the 'argument-morpheme:class' matrix for 1,473 sentences, five machine learning techniques were applied to generate predictive models relating each sentences to the element of argument with which it corresponded. The accuracy of the predictive models was investigated by comparing them with the results of pre-coding by researchers and confirming the degree of agreement. The predictive model generated by the k-nearest neighbor algorithm (KNN) demonstrated the highest degree of agreement [54.04% (${\kappa}=0.22$)] when machine learning was performed with the consideration of morpheme of each sentence. The predictive model generated by the KNN exhibited higher agreement [55.07% (${\kappa}=0.24$)] when the coding results of the previous sentence were added to the prediction process. In addition, the results indicated importance of considering context of discourse by reflecting the codes of previous sentences to the analysis. The results have significance in that, it showed the possibility of automating the analysis of students' argumentation activities in Korean language by applying machine learning.

A design and implementation of VHDL-to-C mapping in the VHDL compiler back-end (VHDL 컴파일러 후반부의 VHDL-to-C 사상에 관한 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a design and implementation of VHDL-to-C mapping in the VHDL compiler back-end is described. The analyzed data in an intermediate format(IF), produced by the compiler front-end, is transformed into a C-code model of VHDL semantics by the VHDL-to-C mapper. The C-code model for VHDL semantics is based on a functional template, including declaration, elaboration, initialization and execution parts. The mapping is carried out by utilizing C mapping templates of 129 types classified by mapping units and functional semantics, and iterative algorithms, which are combined with terminal information, to produce C codes. In order to generate the C program, the C codes are output to the functional template either directly or by combining the higher mapping result with intermediate mapping codes in the data queue. In experiments, it is shown that the VHDL-to-C mapper could completely deal with the VHDL analyzed programs from the compiler front-end, which deal with about 96% of major VHDL syntactic programs in the Validation Suite. As for the performance, it is found that the code size of VHDL-to-C is less than that of interpreter and worse than direct code compiler of which generated code is increased more rapidly with the size of VHDL design, and that the VHDL-to-C timing overhead is needed to be improved by the optimized implementation of mapping mechanism.

High-resolution 3D Object Reconstruction using Multiple Cameras (다수의 카메라를 활용한 고해상도 3차원 객체 복원 시스템)

  • This paper presents a new system which produces high resolution 3D contents by capturing multiview images of an object using multiple cameras, and estimating geometric and texture information of the object from the captured images. Even though a variety of multiview image-based 3D reconstruction systems have been proposed, it was difficult to generate high resolution 3D contents because multiview image-based 3D reconstruction requires a large amount of memory and computation. In order to reduce computational complexity and memory size for 3D reconstruction, the proposed system predetermines the regions in input images where an object can exist to extract object boundaries fast. And for fast computation of a visual hull, the system represents silhouettes and 3D-2D projection/back-projection relations by chain codes and 1D homographies, respectively. The geometric data of the reconstructed object is compactly represented by a 3D segment-based data format which is called DoCube, and the 3D object is finally reconstructed after 3D mesh generation and texture mapping are performed. Experimental results show that the proposed system produces 3D object contents of $800{\times}800{\times}800$ resolution with a rate of 2.2 seconds per frame.

Implementation of High-Throughput SHA-1 Hash Algorithm using Multiple Unfolding Technique (다중 언폴딩 기법을 이용한 SHA-1 해쉬 알고리즘 고속 구현)

  • This paper proposes a new high speed SHA-1 architecture using multiple unfolding and pre-computation techniques. We unfolds iterative hash operations to 2 continuos hash stage and reschedules computation timing. Then, the part of critical path is computed at the previous hash operation round and the rest is performed in the present round. These techniques reduce 3 additions to 2 additions on the critical path. It makes the maximum clock frequency of 118 MHz which provides throughput rate of 5.9 Gbps. The proposed architecture shows 26% higher throughput with a 32% smaller hardware size compared to other counterparts. This paper also introduces a analytical model of multiple SHA-1 architecture at the system level that maps a large input data on SHA-1 block in parallel. The model gives us the required number of SHA-1 blocks for a large multimedia data processing that it helps to make decision hardware configuration. The hs fospeed SHA-1 is useful to generate a condensed message and may strengthen the security of mobile communication and internet service.

A Study on the Factors Influencing on the Conflicts Perceived by Franchise (프랜차이즈 유통경로상의 갈등에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 : 슈퍼바이저의 상거래태도와 업무전문성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose - Recently actively growing franchise systems distribution channel system in which franchise headquarter compared with franchise occupies an important place in distribution channel. Due to this, franchise and franchise headquarter are interdependent on task and in this situation the goal they go after, motivation and objective are probably inconsistent. If so, possibility to participate goal setting process or operating activity of opposite side is becoming bigger and in the end conflict may generate. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the supervisor's attitude and expertise as moderating factors in the relationship between goal-incongruity/coercive power/role-incongruity and the conflict perceived by franchisee. Research design, data and methodology - This study was intended to verify how the supervisor's attitude and expertise as moderating factors in the relationship between goal-incongruity/coercive power/role-incongruity and the conflict perceived by franchisee. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, some study models and hypotheses have been established through theoretical examinations. Then, using these scales, the researcher completed the questionnaire survey. To test our hypotheses, the survey was conducted from March 9, 2016 for 20 days by random sampling, The study was implemented through a descriptive survey method using a self-administered questionnaire. A survey of 124 restaurant franchisee across Seoul and Gyeonggi Province was performed. A total of 124 completed responses were analyzed. In this study, I used SPSS 22.0 to analyze data and did frequency analysis to see demographic, and general features of the respondents; also did exploratory factor analysis to examine the validity of the items of measurement. Factor analysis was first calculated at a minimum, the number of factors, principal component analysis used when variables are committed to maximising the information with (principle component analysis) and the rotation of factors were angry about the great variable factors than 1.0 by applying Varimax rotation. In addition, I used the value of Cronbach's (Alpha) to examine the reliance of questionnaire items, final analysis the reliability factor can be found both high reliability hayeoteumeuro exceeds over 0.6 and did Multiple regression analysis to test hypothesis and also did hierarchical regression analysis to examine moderating effect. Results - To analyze the proposed model, according to the analysis result, it was found that the influence of goal-incongruity, coercive power, and role-incongruity on the perceived conflict of franchisee is moderated by the supervisor's attitude and expertise. That is, the more the supervisor's attitude and expertise were positive, the more the conflicts of the goal-incongruity, coercive power, and role-incongruity were decreased. It also confirmed previous research's finding that goal-incongruity, coercive power, and role-incongruity positively influence on the conflict. Conclusions - According to the results of this research which reduces the conflict of franchise from the in consistent goal; coercive power, and inconsistent role of superiors, it provides very important implications for franchise headquarter which has franchise system and also give them some suggestion about how to recruit superiors and what kind of training may be fit for the superiors.

Analysis on the Determinants of Land Compensation Cost: The Use of the Construction CALS Data (토지 보상비 결정 요인 분석 - 건설CALS 데이터 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the determinants of land compensation costs using the CALS (Continuous Acquisition & Life-Cycle Support) system to generate data for the construction (planning, design, building, management) process. For analysis, variables used in the related research on land costs were used, which included eight variables (Land Area, Individual Public Land Price, Appraisal & Assessment, Land Category, Use District 1, Terrain Elevation, Terrain Shape, and Road). Also, the variables were analyzed using the machine learning-based Xgboost algorithm. Individual Public Land Price was identified as the most important variable in determining land cost. We used a linear multiple regression analysis to verify the determinants of land compensation. For this verification, the dependent variable included was the Individual Public Land Price, and the independent variables were the numeric variable (Land Area) and factor variables (Land Category, Use District 1, Terrain Elevation, Terrain Shape, Road). This study found that the significant variables were Land Category, Use District 1, and Road.

Development of MATLAB GUI Based Software for Analysis of KASS Availability Performance (KASS 가용성 성능 평가를 위한 MATLAB GUI 기반 소프트웨어 설계)

  • This paper introduces a MATLAB graphical user interface (GUI) based software for analysis of korea augmentation satellite system (KASS) availability performance. This software uses minimum variance (MV) estimator and Kriging algorithm to generate integrity information such as user differential range error (UDRE) and grid ionospheric vertical error (GIVE). The information is offered to ground and aviation users in Korean region. The software also gives accuracy data, protection level data and availability map about each user position by using the integrity information. In particular the software calculates the protection level along a path of aircraft. We verified the result of protection level of aviation user by comparing them with the results of SBASimulator#2, which is a simulation tool of european geostationary navigation overlay service (EGNOS). As a result, the protection level error between the result of our software and the SBASimulator#2 was about 2% which means that the result of our software is accurate.

A Prototype Architecture of an Interactive Service System for Digital Hologram Videos (디지털 홀로그램 비디오를 위한 인터랙티브 서비스 시스템의 프로토타입 설계)

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a service system for a digital hologram video, which has not been published yet. This system assumes the existing service frame for 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional image/video, which includes data acquisition, processing, transmission, reception, and reconstruction. This system also includes the function to service the digital hologram at the viewer's view point by tracking the viewer's face. For this function, the image information at the virtual view point corresponding to the viewer's view point is generated to get the corresponding hologram. Here in this paper, only a prototype that includes major functions of it is implemented, which includes camera system for data acquisition, camera calibration and image rectification, depth/intensity image enhancement, intermediate view generation, digital hologram generation, and holographic image reconstruction by both simulation and optical apparatus. The proposed prototype system was implemented and the result showed that it takes about 352ms to generate one frame of digital hologram and reconstruct the image by simulation, or 183ms to reconstruct image by optical apparatus instead of simulation.
