  • Introduction : There are three major forms of Epidermolysis Bullosa(EB) - EB Simplex(EBS), Junctional EB(JEB) and Dystrophic EB(DEB). DEB is divided into two groups that Dominant DEB(DDEB) and Recessive DEB(RDEB). RDEB has two types that Hallopeau-Siemens(generalized type) and mitis(localized type). Objects : This study was carried out to observe the progress of Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa-mitis(RDEB-mitis) disease and find effective remedy. Methods: Both diagnosis and treatment were divided into three groups voluntarily. l. diagnosis - dermatic symptoms, mucosal symptoms, general symptoms 2. treatment - herbal medications, moxibustion, medicines used extemally(外用藥) Results : After treating 9 months, the condition of the patient grew better and the grades of severity of ROEB-mitis disease were lower at each diagnosis item. • This study was designed to grasp the degree of job stress affecting dental technicians and the degree of the symptoms of their job stress. With this in mind, the researcher selected a total of 170 dental technicians living in Seoul and Incheon, conducting a research in a period ranging from August 1,2001, to August 20, 2001. The researcher made use of a structured questionnaire whose reliability and feasibility are proved. The questionnaire is composed of a total of 55 questions: thirteen questions related to the subjects' general characteristics; 28 questions connected to the measurement of job stress and fourteen questions linked with the measurement of job-stress symptoms. The researcher analyzed the findings with the aid of SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences). The research came to draw the following conclusions on the basis of frequency, percentage, T-test, and F-test, multiple regression. I. The analysis into the job stress of the subjects indicates that there is a significant difference in difficult questions among their work places, working hours, academic background, job satisfaction and jobs(P<.05). The job stress stands at 3.48 on the average, and the area of conflict among too much work and job performance turns out to be highly perceived. 2. The analysis into the degree of the symptoms of the job stress of the subjects shows that there is a significant difference in work place, working hours, job satisfaction and the continual maintenance of job(P<.05). The symptoms of job stress accounts for 2.65 on the average. Physical symptoms turn out to be highly perceived; The response 'My arms and legs are killing me' proves to stand for 3.03. 3. The correlation between job stress and the symptoms of job stress turns out to be significant(r=0.519, P<0.001), and there is a significant correlation between the average points of each job-stress area and the average points of the symptoms of job stress. All in all, it is necessary that dental technicians themselves should make positive efforts to control and relieve stress and that more efficient programs should be implemented with a view to dealing with stress.

  • It has been reported that among mushroom farmers, respiratory diseases such as hypersensitivity pneumonitis can be developed by inhalation of mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) spores. For the evaluation of respiratory symptoms among mushroom farmers, a questionnaire was made. The Questionnaire included general characteristics, past occupational histories, durations of the mushroom cultivation and characteristics of the symptoms. Following the questionnaire we interviewed the 72 mushroom farmers (12 males, 10 females) from Kyungbuk Province. We also examined white blood counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rates, eosinophil counts and total IgE counts for the 5 farmers. The results obtained are as follows. 1. The mean age among the 22 mushroom farmers was 46.9 years, and the mean duration of cultivation was 7.5 years. 2. Among the 22 mushroom farmers. 18 farmers (81.8 %) suffered from respiratory symptoms at work. The main symptom was coughing (100.0%), followed by chilling sensation (50.0 %), sputum (38.9 %) and sore throat (27.8 %). 3. Coughing and other associated symptoms occurred during work and disappeared after work or several days later when the exposure had been stopped. 4. Total IgE counts were elevated in all farmers examined the test. With above results, the respiratory symptoms that developed among mushroom farmers were typical patterns of hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Epidemiological studies and preventive measures for mushroom farmers should be established.
