These days the interest of quality leads to the necessity of control charts for monitoring the process in various fields of practical applications. The $\overline{X}$ chart is one of the most widely used tools for quality control that also performs well under the normality of quality characteristics. However, quality characteristics tend to have nonnormal properties in real applications. Numerous recent studies have tried to find and explore the performance of $\overline{X}$ chart due to non-normality; however previous studies numerically examined the effects of non-normality and did not provide any theoretical justification. Moreover, numerical studies are restricted to specific type of distributions such as Burr or gamma distribution that are known to be flexible but can hardly replace other general distributions. In this paper, we approximate the false alarm rate(FAR) of the $\overline{X}$ chart using the Edgeworth expansion up to 1/n-order with the fourth cumulant. This allows us to examine the theoretical effects of nonnormality, as measured by the skewness and kurtosis, on $\overline{X}$ chart. In addition, we investigate the effect of skewness and kurtosis on $\overline{X}$ chart in numerical studies. We use a skewed-normal distribution with a skew parameter to comprehensively investigate the effect of skewness.
The distributional characteristics of fault segments in Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks from southeastern Gyeongsang Basin were derived. The 267 sets of fault segments showing linear type were extracted from the curved fault lines delineated on the regional geological map. First, the directional angle(${\theta}$)-length(L) chart for the whole fault segments was made. From the related chart, the general d istribution pattern of fault segments was derived. The distribution curve in the chart was divided into four sections according to its overall shape. NNE, NNW and WNW directions, corresponding to the peaks of the above sections, indicate those of the Yangsan, Ulsan and Gaeum fault systems. The fault segment population show near symmetrical distribution with respect to $N19^{\circ}E$ direction corresponding to the maximum peak. Second, the directional angle-frequency(N), mean length(Lm), total length(Lt) and density(${\rho}$) chart was made. From the related chart, whole domain of the above chart was divided into 19 domains in terms of the phases of the distribution curve. The directions corresponding to the peaks of the above domains suggest the directions of representative stresses acted on rock body. Third, the length-cumulative frequency graphs for the 18 sub-populations were made. From the related chart, the value of exponent(${\lambda}$) increase in the clockwise direction($N10{\sim}20^{\circ}E{\rightarrow}N50{\sim}60^{\circ}E$) and counterclockwise direction ($N10{\sim}20^{\circ}W{\rightarrow}N50{\sim}60^{\circ}W$). On the other hand, the width of distribution of lengths and mean length decrease. The chart for the above sub-populations having mutually different evolution characteristics, reveals a cross section of evolutionary process. Fourth, the general distribution chart for the 18 graphs was made. From the related chart, the above graphs were classified into five groups(A~E) according to the distribution area. The lengths of fault segments increase in order of group E ($N80{\sim}90^{\circ}E{\cdot}N70{\sim}80^{\circ}E{\cdot}N80{\sim}90^{\circ}W{\cdot}N50{\sim}60^{\circ}W{\cdot}N30{\sim}40^{\circ}W{\cdot}N40{\sim}50^{\circ}W$) < D ($N70{\sim}80^{\circ}W{\cdot}N60{\sim}70^{\circ}W{\cdot}N60{\sim}70^{\circ}E{\cdot}N50{\sim}60^{\circ}E{\cdot}N40{\sim}50^{\circ}E{\cdot}N0{\sim}10^{\circ}W$) < C ($N20{\sim}30^{\circ}W{\cdot}N10{\sim}20^{\circ}W$) < B ($N0{\sim}10^{\circ}E{\cdot}N30{\sim}40^{\circ}E$) < A ($N20{\sim}30^{\circ}E{\cdot}N10{\sim}20^{\circ}E$). Especially the forms of graph gradually transition from a uniform distribution to an exponential one. Lastly, the values of the six parameters for fault-segment length were divided into five groups. Among the six parameters, mean length and length of the longest fault segment decrease in the order of group III ($N10^{\circ}W{\sim}N20^{\circ}E$) > IV ($N20{\sim}60^{\circ}E$) > II ($N10{\sim}60^{\circ}W$) > I ($N60{\sim}90^{\circ}W$) > V ($N60{\sim}90^{\circ}E$). Frequency, longest length, total length, mean length and density of fault segments, belonging to group V, show the lowest values. The above order of arrangement among five groups suggests the interrelationship with the relative formation ages of fault segments.

The statistical process control (SPC) assumes that observations follow the particular statistical distribution and they are independent to each other. However, the time-series data do not always follow the particular distribution, and most of cases are autocorrelated, therefore, it has limit to adopt the general SPC in tim series process. In this study, we propose a MPBC (Model Parameter Based Control-chart) method for fault detection in time-series processes. The MPBC builds up the process as a time-series model, and it can determine the faults by detecting changes parameters in the model. The process we analyze in the study assumes that the data follow the ARMA (p,q) model. The MPBC estimates model parameters using RLS (Recursive Least Square), and $K^2$-control chart is used for detecting out-of control process. The results of simulations support the idea that our proposed method performs better in time-series process.
We have studied general orientational characteristics of microcracks distributed in Tertiary crystalline tuff from the northeastern part of the Gyeongsang Basin. 108 sets of microcracks on horizontal surfaces of 6 rock samples from Heunghae-eup and Cheongha-myeon, Pohang-si areas were distinguished by image processing. Those microcrack sets show a distinct linear array in 38 images. Whole domain of the directional angle(${\theta}$)-frequency(N) chart for crystalline tuff can be divided into 20 domains in terms of the phases of the distribution of microcracks. From the related chart, microcrack sets show preferred orientation which are coincident with the direction of vertical common joints. Consequently, the potential for macroscopic vertical joints in a rock body can be inferred from the directional angle showing high frequency in each domain of the related chart. This joint pattern is nearly the same in Mesozoic granites from Seokmo-do, Gwanghwa-gun. From the rose diagram for orientations of microcrack in crystalline tuff, orientations of dominant sets of microcracks in terms of frequency orders reflect representative orientations of maximum principal stress acted on crystalline tuff. Meanwhile, orientations of microcracks in crystalline tuff were compared with those of open microcracks in Bulgugsa granites from the southwestern part of the Gyeongsang Basin, and vertical rift/grain planes from Mesozoic granite quarries in Korea. In regional distribution chart, the agreement of distribution pattern between above two types of microcrack sets and vertical planes suggests that microcrack systems developed in crystalline tuff probably occur regionally in Mesozoic granites in Korea.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the distribution of systemic diseases and medications in patients older than 65 years of age who visited the hospital for implant treatment, as well as to investigate basic information about surgical complications that may occur after insured implant treatment. Method: A total of 126 patients over 65 years of age were treated for implant surgery from October 1, 2013 to October 30, 2016. Electronic chart review was conducted to obtain medical records, which included sex, age, systemic diseases, medication(s) being taken, and control of the medications. Five patients were excluded due to lack of medical records giving information about systemic disease. Results: Of the 126 patients, 112 (88.9%) were taking medication due to systemic disease and 9 patients (7.1%) were not. The sex distribution was 71 women and 55 men and the highest proportion of patients were between 65 and 69 years old. The most common diseases were, from most to least frequent, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. The drug groups that can cause major complications after dental treatment were classified as hemorrhagic, osteoporotic, and immunosuppressive agents, and were taken by 45 (35.7%), 22 (17.5%) and 4 (3.2%) patients, respectively. Conclusion: Given that 88.9% of the elderly patients who were eligible for insurance implant treatment had systemic disease, it is necessary to carefully evaluate patients' medical histories and their general conditions in order to prevent emergencies during implant surgery.

Vertical distribution of tidal currents in the Korea Strait is computed by a tree-dimensional tidal model. The results are presented in the from of tidal charts (coamplitude and cophase chart) and (tidal ellipses charts for eight tidal constituents (M$_2$, S$_2$, $N_2$, $K_2$, $K_1$, $O_1$, P$_1$, Q$_1$) and of harmonic constants for predictions of tides and tidal currents during specified duration in the region. The computed tides were in general agreement with coastal observations and observation-based tidal charts of Odamaki (1989). Comparison between model computation and current observation by RIAM were also presented.

This paper is the forth paper of several companion papers which compare the method of Air-Fuel ratio determination. In the previous work, various AFR calculations were performed for various fuels and the results were compared with each other. The comparison, however, were limited to numerical value and estimation of each equation or method was insufficient. In this paper, the overall estimation of the methods was attempted. Also, the method of trouble shooting of instrumentation was presented. Through the estimation of methods, it is concluded that the Eltinge method contains inherently the most perfect thermal dissociation model as far as the exhaust composition is concerned; therefore, this might be regarded as the most general equation of AFR determination among the existing ones. The others might be considered as approximate form. In addition, the mal-distribution factor in Eltinge method is qualitatively equivalent to thermal dissociation chemical equilibrium constant K. Lastly, it is illustrated that all instrumentation error, including the sampling line leakage, can be easily detected through the analyzing the exhaust component on the Eltinge chart.

This paper is the first of several companion papers which compare the methods of Air-fuel ratio determination. There are many methods which calculate Air-Fuel ratio from exhaust emission. Most of them are based on the simple chemical equations, which use balance of atom, and the error of the calculation is negligible as far as the instrumentation accuracy is guaranteed. They assume homogeneous mixture and complete combustion to the extent of oxygen availability. Because of these simple assumptions, they cannot offer the information about the fuel distribution state and the malfunction of instrument. For these limitations, Eltinge offered new one based on stricter mathematical model. This result coincides with the others very well and gives more information about the mixture state and instrumentation. Consequently this might be a general solution for Air-fuel ratio determination and exhaust composition. The objects of the calculation, however, were not commercial fuels except gasoline and the compensation method of unburned hydrocarbon was not appropriate to recent analyzer. Moreover he did not consider the fuel which contains oxygen, such as methanol, ethanol and blend of gasoline-alcohol. In this paper, Eltinge chart is expanded to the arbitrary fuel composition as the reference exhaust compositions for the purpose of further discussions about Air-fuel ratio determination methods and the charts fur gasoline, diesel, methanol, M85, liquefied petroleum gas(LPG), natural gas(NG), propane, butane are illustrated.
