  • Electrical motors are an integral part of industrial plants with no less than 5 billion motors built world wide every year. The demand for low-cost brushless DC (BLDC) motors has increased in industrial applications. This paper presents a BLDC motor control algorithm for low-cost motor drive applications using general purpose microcontrollers which have only one on-chip timer. This paper describes how to realize pulse width modulation (PWM) signals with general input/output (I/O) ports to control a three-phase permanent magnet brushless DC motor using the timer interrupt on MSP430F1232.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between upper-scale general hospital nurses' experience of verbal abuse and job stress. Methods: Subjects were 245 nurses working at 3 upper-scale general hospitals in B city and the data were collected by convenience samples using self-reported questionnaires consist of general characteristics, verbal abuse and job stress. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The mean score of verbal abuse level was 2.2 points and job stress level was 2.5 points. Experience of verbal abuse and job stress among the subjects had a positive correlation, and verbal abuse against nurses especially showed a strong correlation with job stress. Conclusion: Results of this study show that nurses' experience of verbal abuse increases their job stress. Therefore, continuous education and training programs that are based on the case studies with coping method according to clinical careers and working areas are required to reduce upper-scale general hospital nurses' experience of verbal abuse and decrease their job stress.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between systemic diseases and denture wear status in elderly. The subjects of this study were 4,340 seniors aged 65 or older who conducted screenings and health surveys using the National Health and Nutrition Survey data during the sixth period (2013, 2014 and 2015). Methods: For the general characteristics and denture wear status according to general systemic diseases, complex sample frequency analysis and cross-analysis were performed. After controlling the general characteristics, complex sample logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the relationship between systemic diseases and denture wear status. Statistical software was used for SPSS (SPSS 23.0 for Windows, SPSS Inc, USA). Significance level was considered as 0.05. Results: A multisample logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the relationship between systemic diseases and denture wear status. The results showed that the dentured state had a significant effect on dyslipidemia and diabetes. Conclusion: Dyslipidemia and diabetes, which are related to denture wearing condition, need to be prevented and treated with regular checkups. In addition, based on the results of the study, it is thought that the elderly need denture prosthetic treatment after tooth extraction. In addition, it can be used as basic data for oral health business plan that can maintain and manage oral health.

Methods: Subjects included dental technicians in the metropolitan areas of the cities of Daegu and Gyeong-buk. Surveys were filled out by consenting dental technicians. Statistical analysis was done using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 18.0 for Windows. We determined frequencies and percentage, calculating means, and standard deviations, and determining statistical significance using t-tests, analysis of variance. Results: Job satisfaction showed differences in General characteristics associated with gender, age, monthly salaray, education. Turnover intention showed differences in General characteristics associated with age, monthly salaray. Job satisfaction showed differences in dental laboratory characteristics associated with Career, Working time. Turnover intention showed differences in dental laboratory characteristics associated with working time. Conclusion: In order to reduce turnover rate of dental technician, Job satisfaction of dental technicians have to find ways to improve. The comprehensive and reliable research which measures job satisfaction of dental technician is necessary.

  • For agile production methods, manufacturing system requires development of a motion controller which has flexibility of general-purpose motion controller and productivity of specialized-purpose one. In this study we developed a flowchart programming development environment for motion language and process control. A controller designed on this environment can be used as a general purpose motion controller of a machine tool. Design of control programming based on a flowchart has the advantages such as reducing the programming time and improving intuitiveness of interface for users. We created the flowchart-based platform using OPC communication

  • This paper presents a performance evaluation of real-time Linux for industrial real-time platforms. On industrial platforms, multicore processors are popular due to their work distribution efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Multicore processors, however, are not designed for applications with real-time constraints, and their performance capabilities depend on their core configurations. In order to assess the feasibility of a multicore processor for real-time applications, we conduct a performance evaluation of a general processor and a low-power processor to provide an experimental environment of real-time Linux on both Xenomai and RT-preempt considering the multicore configuration. The real-time performance is evaluated through scheduling latency and in an environment with loads on the CPU, memory, and network to consider an actual situation. The results show a difference between a low-power and a general-purpose processor, but from developer's point of view, it shows that the low-power processor is a proper solution to accommodate low power situations.

  • Purpose: This study is aimed to develope effective guidelines of R&D institute with regard to general management cost, by analyzing the management characteristics of 14 domestic R&D institutes general management costs. Methods: The bootstrapping method is applied to obtain the average general management cost of 14 R&D institute and the effective R&D institutes are presented by comparing the general management costs of R&D and the rate of inflation. Results: The results show that the average R&D general management cost of 14 R&D institutes is 3.32% and, in general, it turns out that the R&D general management costs do not reflect the inflation rate after a comparative analysis of the variation of the R&D general management costs. In addition, the results of cost-effective analysis show that only 5 R&D institutes are efficient in R&D activities. Conclusion: Applying a uniform standard of R&D general management costs although their management characteristics are different, can cause the impediment to the independence and transparency of R&D institutes. Therefore it is recommended a strict implementation with respect to the monitoring system of each R&D institute and the budget policy methods which are reflected management characteristics.

  • In this paper, we verify the mediating effects of resilience on the relationship between smartphone addition and anger coping strategies, focusing on 299 high school students, and examine the effect of variables on students of general high schools and special purpose high schools. We found that smartphone addiction affects students' resilience and the resilience affects their anger-out and anger-in. It is also found that resilience has mediating effects on the relationship between students' smartphone addiction and anger coping strategies. As for students of general high schools, their smartphone addiction has positive effects on anger-out and anger-in while that of students of special purpose high schools affects their resilience, and the resilience affect their anger-out and anger-in. The results suggest that a high-level of smartphone addiction tends to reduce resilience, which lowers anger moderation, and stress the need of intervention by school type. Finally, this paper discusses implications based on its results and importance of further studies.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)/Inertial Navigation System (INS) integrated navigation systems provide highly accurate and reliable navigation solutions and are widely used as civil and military navigation systems. In order to facilitate the GNSS/INS integrated navigation system development task, a simulator can be used to provide inputs for the GNSS/INS integrated navigation system. In this paper, a simulator design using general-purpose Personal Computer (PC) and Off-The-Shelf (OTS) interface boards for a GNSS/INS integrated navigation system is proposed and implementation results are presented. Requirements of the GNSS/INS integrated navigation system simulator are presented and a design method that satisfies the requirements is described. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed design method, a simulator using a general-purpose PC and OTS interface boards for the GPS/INS integrated navigation system are implemented and verified. The implementation results show that the simulator designed by the proposed method generates the GPS L1 C/A signal and IMU data without any problems.
