Preference of S/S men's suit fabrics according to gender and age groups (성별과 연령에 따른 춘하 남성 정장 소재의 선호도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the difference of judge's gender and age groups in preference of S/S men's suit fabrics, and to analyze the relationship between the preference and the texture by gender and age group. For this study, 60 types of S/S men's suit fabrics were used with variously-composed fibers, such as wool, wool-blended, and PET, thickness, and weight. To evaluate the texture and the preference subjectively, nine ranks' semantic differential scale questions of 22 texture adjectives and preference of 4 apparel items were developed, Through the factor analysis, texture adjectives were classified into 7 categories: "stiffness," "elasticity," "bulkiness," "coolness," "smoothness," and "drapability." Depending on gender and age groups of judges, statistically significant differences on texture factors and the preference were observed. Especially, men under 30 years of age showed a higher grade of stiffness and a lower preference on pants than other groups. The relationship between the texture and the preference was different by gender and age group: Women evaluated a preference of men's suit fabrics in relation to stiffness and smoothness, whereas men did so in relation to stiffness, smoothness, coolness, and drapability. A young age group put more importance on drapability for preference of men's suit fabric.

The Influence of Gender Schema on Children's Memory and Preference for Gender Related Tasks (아동의 성 도식과 성관련 과제의 기억 및 선호)

  • The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of a component model of gender role and differences in children's gender concepts with age and sex. The secondary purpose was to investigate the relationship between children's gender schema and memory as well as preference for gender related task. 181 children were interviewed about gender concepts and gender related tasks. Results indicated that three dimensions of the component model (i. e., gender label-component links, within-component links, between-component links) were significantly related to each other. The mean scores of gender role knowledge and attitude were different with age but not with sex. The results of the regression analysis showed that children's age, sex, and gender role attitude explained both memory and preference for gender related tasks. The component model had better explanatory power than the simple model. The findings of the present study suggest that children's gender concepts are better described in terms of the component model than the simple model and may contribute to a theoretical rationale for gender schema theory.

A Study on the Factors Related to the Seafood Preference of Elementary School Children

  • This study was undertaken with 237 fifth grade children to investigate the factors, affecting the seafood prefrerence of elementary school children as one of the approaches to find strategies to promote these children's acceptance of seafoods. Subjects for this study were from one public elementary school under meal service located each in Boryeoung-city Chungcheongna Co (coastal area) and Chelowon gen Gangwon do land locked area) The preferences for than those in Boryeong and differences in may items were significant Among four area gender groups girls in Cheolwon had the lowest preference for most seafood items except cephalocoda for which the preference of body in Cheolwon was the lowest Making soup was the least preferred method to cook fish regardless of gender and area, while grilling was the most or the second most preferred in each gender area group Compared to girls bodys had a higher preference for deep frying The seafood preferences of mothers in both areas were similar to those of their children except for processed seafoods which were even more preferred by the children than mothers. Gender, distance from the sea and the method of preparation/cooking seemed to affect the children's preference more than their mother's preference and frequency of serving in the case of seafood. And the effect of gender distance from the sea and cooking methods differed for each seafood category The several suggestions to improve seafood preference especially in land locked area are discussed.

A Study of the Dietary Behavior and Food Preference of Adolescents (청소년의 성별에 따른 식생활 태도 및 식품기호도)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the guidelines for the dietary lift by analyzing and studying the dietary behavior and food preference based on the gender. In the questions whether students' food preference is similar to their parents' or not, girls answered their food preferences were similar to them (M = 3.36), but boys not (M : 2.90). In the question if the knowledge learned in school has an effect on the choice of food, girls and boys answered it did not affect them, but there was a slight difference according to the gender; boys(M = 2.54) were under less influence than girls (M = 2.88). According to the gender, there was a meaningful difference in the food preference in meat, eggs, fish and shell, beans, milk and milk products, anchovies, fruits, fats and oils, beverage, and processed food. School education had a little influence on the habits of dietary life, only 8.0%. So more practical nutrition education was needed.

A Qualitative Case Study on the Discrepancy between Children's Gender Schema and Gender Role Acceptability: With a Focus on the Intersexual Role Playing of Two Brothers' (형제 놀이 속에서 발현된 '코델리아' 형규의 이성지향자적(異性志向者的) 특성에 관한 질적 연구)

  • It is generally known that children's development of 'gender schema' and 'gender role stereotype' has a positive relationship with the notion of 'gender role preference'. This study analyzed an unusual case focusing on the role playing of two brothers'. The elder brother, Hyoung-Gyoo, always preferred to take the female role, and he had a preference for feminine names like "Cordelia" whilst engaging in role playing situations. The brothers can be said to have crossed the border into the realm of intersexual role playing. The results revealed Hyoung-Gyoo's clear discrepancy between gender-related perceptions and reality, and showed his younger sibling Je-Gyoo's high level of acceptance towards his brother's extraordinary gender role preference. The results of this study can serve as a useful reference point for detailing unusual development from early childhood regarding 'opposite-gender-role seeking' characteristics.

The Influence of Gender Schema on Children's Preference for Gender Related Tasks (성과 관련된 과제의 선호에서의 성 도식의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's conceptions about gender and the relation between gender conceptions and preference for gender related tasks. 130 children were interviewed about gender and gender related tasks. Data were analyzed with the component model of gender schema. Results indicated that children's gender schema in the attitudes domain was significantly different with age in all components but not different with sex. The gender schema in the knowledge domain was significantly different with age in within component and between component links, and with sex in the gender label-component and within component links. The difference between the gender inhibitory score and gender facilitative score was significantly different with age, sex, and children's gender schema. The findings that gender schema influenced the children's preferences for gender related tasks suggests a theoretical rationale of gender schema theory.

The Clothing Attitude and Preference of the Gay Men According to Gender Role (남성동성애자의 성 역할에 따른 의복태도 및 선호)

  • The main purpose of this study is to examine the gay men's clothing attitude and preference according to gender role, for reviewing their clothing culture. Specifically, this study focuses on 1) investigating gay men's clothing attitude(brand orientation, conformity, fashion leadership, sexual attractiveness), 2) identifying their clothing preference, 3) comparing the difference of lifestyle, and 4) comparing the difference of their preference color and wearing the accessary, according to their gender role. Futhermore, this study compares those factors between gay men and heterosexual men. The data was collected from 168 persons(76 gay men and 92 heterosexual men) in LGHRF(Lesbian & Gay Human Rights Federation), Korea Gaymen's Coalition and adult men living in Seoul. To analyze data, the methodology adopted in this study is frequency, t-test, and ANOVA. The results found in this study are as followings: First, sexual attractiveness was significant factor for the gay men's clothing attitude and not concern about conformity. According to the gender role, bottom, who have much of the woman in composition, was more higher for the fashion leadership than top, who have a propensity for masculine. Second, gay men prefer to masculine, simple and casual style. According to the gender role, 'top' was more likely to masculine, simple and formal style rather than 'Bottom'. Third, Gay men were much more concern about a cultural life style. Furthermore, a preference color for both group was blue. Especially, gay men tended to prefer a chromatic color. The implication getting from conclusion in this study was to study Gay men's taste for a fashion, clothing attitude and their preference to purchase, etc., in considering their buying power for clothing in a fashion market.

Comparison of High School Math Teachers' Preferences for 'Good Mathematics Teaching' (좋은 수학 수업에 대한 고등학교 수학 교사의 선호도 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to research and compare teachers' preferences for 'Great Math Class' by region and gender. The research was conducted on 261 high school math teachers by using non-probability sampling. As the results of the study, regional preference had no statistically significant difference in all four factors of 'Great Math Class' while gender preference had statistically significant difference only in the factor of teaching (methods) and learning methods. Both region and gender had statistically significant positive (+) relationship with preference for all four factors. This implies that it is necessary to consider socio-cultural factors rather than teachers' perception on class for regional differences in academic achievements in mathematics.

A Study on Clothing Design Preference and Purchase associated with Gender of the Aging (노인의 성에 따른 의복 디자인 선호 및 구매에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to examine how clothing design preference and clothing attitude vary according to gender of the aging. Using the data collected through interview with 200 subjects who were 60years of age and older residing at Kunsan city area in Korea. These data were analyzed by frequency and $\chi$$^2$-test. The tendency of the gender on jacket stymie preference showed that men liked the soutien collar jacket, two button sing1e Jacket, and four button double jacket, women liked two button single jacket, three button single Jacket and four button double jacket. The general preference did allot depend on the practical purchasing. Men preferred more the soutien collar jacket than the women. On the shirts pattern preference, men liked thick horizon and plaid pattern, while the women liked polk dots pattern and small flowered one. The practical clothing purchase was done by themselves directly. The important criteria depended on the appearance style like simple and smart. For the main complaining factor to purchase the clothes, men considered the color, and women complained not to have suitable shopping stores. The most of all complaining was the expensive prices.

The Unit Classification and Gender-Difference Analysis of Technology.Home Economics Subject Based on Estimation of the Degree of Practical Use and Preference among Male and Female Middle.High School Students in Chuncheon city' (중.고등학교 남녀학생의 기술.가정 교과 활용도와 선호도 평가에 따른 단원 분류 및 성별 차이 분석 - 춘천시를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the information for the development of gender-equality oriented content of Technology Home Economics subject. For this purpose, a total of 404 male and female middle high school students in Chuncheon city were sampled and asked to estimate the degree of practical use and preference for the 47 units of Technology Home Economics subject. Results were summarized as following : 1. The 47 units were classified into 4 groups on the basis of similarity in the degree of practical use and preference: 23 units estimated as 'better than average' by male and female students were classified into group 1; 4 units estimated as 'better than average' by female students but as 'less than average' by male students were classified into group 2; 10 units estimated as 'less than average' by male and female students were classified into group. 3; 10 units estimated as 'far less than average' by male and female students were classified into group 4. Most of the units in Home Economics area were classified Into group 1 or 2, but most of the units in Technology area were classified into group 3 or 4. 2. Gender difference was confirmed between male and female students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference for the 47 units. In about three-quaters of the units in Home Economics area, female students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference was higher than male students' estimation. In about half of the units in Technology area, male students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference was higher than female students' estimation. However, possibility was detected in several units of Technology Home Economics subject that gender difference could be decreased.
