A pin-type load-cell which uses shear-type strain gauges was developed to measure the tension of a wire in a winch. A finite element analysis was performed to determine the locations of the strain gauges. All of the shear-type strain gauges were attached onto parts that undergo regularly shear stress distributions. A Wheatstone bridge circuit was used to connect each of the gauges and to measure the strains. Linearity within the 5% error range was noted when testing the pin-type load-cell.
In this paper, the Gauge-Uzawa methods for the Darcy-Brinkman equations driven by temperature and salt concentration (DBTC) are proposed. The first order backward difference formula is adopted to approximate the time derivative term, and the linear term is treated implicitly, the nonlinear terms are treated semi-implicit. In each time step, the coupling elliptic problems of velocity, temperature and salt concentration are solved, and then the pressure is solved. The unconditional stability and error estimations of the first order semi-discrete scheme are derived, at the same time, the unconditional stability of the first order fully discrete scheme is obtained. Some numerical experiments verify the theoretical prediction and show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
It is essential to have a correct measurement system assessment to help improve process or quality. In this paper, we emphasize that a confidence interval a, pp.oach for the parameters of measurement error study and GR&R is crucial and a simple a, pp.oach for constructing them is presented. We also discuss on the issue of linearity of the gauge. Next, we try to reveal the relationship between measurement error and the process capability index. Finally some aspects of conducting the measuring experiment concerning the number of parts, number of measurements per part, and recommendations on how the experiment is to be performed will be considered.

We, in this paper, have implemented T1, E1 and fractional E1 HDSL(High-bit-rate digital subscriber line) function over an ATM switching system. The maxi$\mu$ loop lengths for subscriber service and cell loss rates to meet the bit error rate of 10$^{-7}$ at transmission of 2B1Q HDSL data E1 rate over existing telephone copper wires in the presence of the significant impairments such as NEXT(Nearned crosstalk), impulse noise, power line noise and longitudinal over the CSAs environment consisting of 26 gauge and 25 gauge unloaded copper telephone lines has assessed. HDSL will intially be used to serve private-DS1, ISDN-BRA, and DLC feeders, later DS1 extension from optic fiber cable. We also present market provision for the HDSL.

In the present the strain gauge type torque transducers consist of solid shaft as sensor, slip ring, brush and bridge circuit as detecting circuit. So in the case of measuring the low-capacity torque, the error caused by technical mistake in mounting stain gauge on the small sensor and especially by contact resistance between slip ring and brush takes place more than the large sensor. Therefore in this study constant voltage in order to have no effect of contact resistance is supplied to the hollow shaft and Schrobron Bridge Circuit. Through the experiment good results were obtained as follows; linearity, hysterisis and zero drift as static characteristics is within 1% F.S respectively. Also when loading, zero drift is about 2% F.S.

When we use the strain gauge in the high temperature water, lowering of insulation resistance between test material and gauge is the matter. The lowering makes the measurement unstable and is the primary factor of an error. This study devises the waterproofing method in empirically that has the best insulating property in the hot water($100^{\circ}C$), In this way, we can reach the conclusion that on the condition of a few hours we can measure precisely in the high temperature like normal temperature.

The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimum machining condition for the wire EDM. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge.

This study proposes a new screw measurement system that is capable of measuring the pitch or lead of a screw, which is one of the most important parameters representing the screw quality. There are various conventional methods for screw measurement including some mechanical and optical ones, but they can not be applied to measure the lead except the profiles or sizes. The newly suggested method is able to measure the pitch or lead directly. This is executed by scanning the thread with a digital probe while the target screw rotates. The devised measurement system is a integrated computer system which is composed of a stepping motor, a digital linear gauge and a chuck device for holding the measured screw. In order to operate the system effectively and conveniently, a computer program having graphical user interface facility is developed. Some experiments were done to prove the effectiveness of the system.

In order to maintain the faith and accuracy with precision of machinery, it is recently required the precise comprehension about approach which is appeared in the contact area between two bodies, because approach affects the static stiffness and dynamic characteristic of contact area. This study applied H. Hertz's circle contact area theory as much lower measuring force. It is measured approach influenced by various factors which were concerned with contact errors like material, form of two bodies, using calibration tester. As a result, the following conclusion can be obtained. 1) The approach appears greatly in order of carbon steel(SM20C), aluminum(A601-T6) and high density polyethylene(5305E) 2) The approach appears in order of concave, disc, convex form, in the ration of contact area size by the difference of curvature.
In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant control system for the position control and vibration suppression of a flexible arm robot. The proposed control system has a strain gauge sensor signal observer based on a reaction force observer and detects a fault by monitoring an estimated error. In order to improve the estimation accuracy, the plant parameters included in the sensor signal observer are updated by using the strain gauge sensor signal in normal time through the adaptive law. After fault detection, the proposed control system exchanges the faulty sensor signal for the estimated one and switches to a fault mode controller so as to maintain the stability and the control performance. We confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed control system through several experiments.
