금속이온교환 제올라이트 촉매상에서 메탄을 이용한 산소과잉 배출가스중의 NO 제거 (Catalytic Removal of Nitric Oxide in Oxygen-Rich Exhaust with Methane over Metal Ion-Exchanged Zeolites)

  • Selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by methane in the presence of excess oxygen was investigated over copper and cobalt ion-exchanged ZSM-5 zeolites. Copper ion-exchanged ZSM-5(Cu-ZSM-5) has the limitations for commercial applications to lean-bum gasoline and diesel engines due to low thermal stability and resistance to water vapor and sulfur dioxide. But cobalt ion-exchanged ESM-5(Co-ZSM-5) is more active at high temperatures and also stable to water vapor and sulfur dioxide for catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by methane. The catalytic activity of Cu-ZSM-5 for NO reduction increases with increasing temperatures, reaches the maximum conversion of 23.0% at 350\"C. and then decreases with higher temperatures. In the meantime catalytic activities of Co-ZSM-5 show the maximum conversion of 25.8% at $500^{\circ}C$ Therefore Co-ZSM-5 catalysts have higher thermal stability at high temperatures. Catalytic activities of both zeolites were remarkably enhanced with the existence of oxygen in the exhaust. It is noted that the catalytic activity of Cu-ZSM-5 decreases with the increasing concentration of methane while the catalytic activity of Co-ZSM-5 decreases with increasing contents of methane in the exhaust. This may imply the existence of different paths of NO reduction by methane in the presence of excess oxygen fur Cu-ZSM-5 and Co-ZSM-5 catalysts. For binary metal ionexchanged ZSM-5, the primary ion-exchanged metal may be masked by secondary ion-exchanged component, which plays the important role for catalytic activities of binary metal ion-exchanged ZSM-5, Therefore CuCo-ZSM-5 catalysts show the similar volcano-shaped curves to Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts between the activity and temperature. It Is interesting that the activities of CoCu-ZSM-5 catalysts indicate almost no dependence on the concentration of methane in the exhaust.aust.

여수석유화학산단의 공선성 시험을 이용한 VOC 오염원 분류표 개발 (Development of the vac Source Profile using Collinearity Test in the Yeosu Petrochemical Complex)

  • The total of 35 target VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which were included in the TO-14, was selected to develop a VOCs' source profile matrix of the Yeosu Petrochemical Complex and to test its collinearity by singular value decomposition(SVD) technique. The VOCs collected in canisters were sampled from 12 different sources such as 8 direct emission sources (refinery, painting, wastewater treatment plant, incinerator, petrochemical processing, oil storage, fertilizer plant, and iron mill) and 4 general area sources (gasoline vapor emission, graphic art activity, vehicle emission, and asphalt paving activity) in this study area, and then those samples were analyzed by GC/MS. Initially the resulting raw data for each profile were scaled and normalized through several data treatment steps, and then specific VOCs showing major weight fractions were intensively reviewed and compared by introducing many other related studies. Next, all of the source profiles were tested in terms of degree of collinearity by SVD technique. The study finally could provide a proper VOCs' source profile in the study area, which can give opportunities to apply various receptor models properly including chemical mass balance (CMB).

횡단공기류에서의 고압 가솔린 분사시 연료분무 특성 (Fuel-Spray Characteristics of High Pressure Gasoline Injection in Cross Flows)

  • The direct injection into the cylinders has been regarded as a way of the reduction in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. The spray produced by the high pressure injector is of paramount importance in DISI(Direct Injection Spark Ignition) engines in that the primary atomization process must meet the requirement of quick and complete evaporation, mixing with air and combustion especially to prohibit the excessive HC emissions. The interaction between air flow and fuel spray was investigated in a steady flow system embodied in a wind tunnel to simulate the variety of flow inside the cylinder of the DISI engine. The direct Mie scattered and shadowgraph images presented the macroscopic view of the liquid sprays and vapor fields. The velocity and particle size of fuel droplets were investigated by phase doppler anenometer(PDA) system. The processes of atomization and evaporation with a DISI injector were observed and consequently utilized to construct the data-base for the spray and fuel-air mixing mechanism as a function of the flow characteristics.

신경회로망 알고리즘과 ATmega128칩을 활용한 자동차용 지능형 AQS 시스템 (Intelligent AQS System with Artificial Neural Network Algorithm and ATmega128 Chip in Automobile)

  • The Air Quality Sensor(AQS), located near the fresh air inlet, serves to reduce the amount of pollution entering the vehicle cabin through the HVAC(heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) system by sending a signal to close the fresh air inlet door/ventilation flap when the vehicle enters a high pollution area. The sensor module which includes two independent sensing elements for responding to diesel and gasoline exhaust gases, and temperature sensor and humidity sensor was designed for intelligent AQS in automobile. With this sensor module, AVR microcontroller was designed with back propagation neural network to a powerful gas/vapor pattern recognition when the motor vehicles pass a pollution area. Momentum back propagation algorithm was used in this study instead of normal backpropagation to reduce the teaming time of neural network. The signal from neural network was modified to control the inlet of automobile and display the result or alarm the situation in this study. One chip microcontroller, ATmega 128L(ATmega Ltd., USA) was used for the control and display. And our developed system can intelligently reduce the malfunction of AQS from the dampness of air or dense fog with the backpropagation neural network and the input sensor module with four sensing elements such as reducing gas sensing element, oxidizing gas sensing element, temperature sensing element and humidity sensing element.

광화학측정망에서 측정한 휘발성유기화합물의 정도관리 방법 (Quality Assurance and Quality Control method for Volatile Organic Compounds measured in the Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Station)

  • The hourly volatile organic compounds(VOCs) concentrations between 2005 and 2008 at Bulgwang photochemical assessment monitoring station were investigated to establish a method for quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC) procedure. Systematic error, erratic error, and random error, which was manifested by outlier and highly fluctuated data, were checked and removed. About 17.3% of the raw data were excluded according to the proposed QA/QC procedure. After QA/QC, relative standard deviation for representing 15 species concentrations decreased from 94.7-548.0% to 63.4-125.8%, implying the QA/QC procedure is proper. For further evaluation about the adequacy of QA/QC procedure, principal components analysis(PCA) was carried out. When the data after QA/QC procedure was used for PCA, the extracted principal components were different from the result from the raw data and could logically explain the major emission sources(gasoline vapor, vehicle exhaust, and solvent usage). The QA/QC procedure based on the concept of errors is inferred to proper to be applied on VOCs. However, an additional QA/QC step considering the relationship between species in the atmosphere needs to be further considered.

바이오 연료 적용에 따른 차량 증발가스 및 성능특성 연구 (The Characteristics Study of Vehicle Evaporative Emission and Performance according to the Bio-Fuel Application)

  • 국내 외에서 대기오염에 대한 관심이 점점 증가함에 따라 자동차 및 연료관련 분야의 연구자들은 새로운 엔진설계, 향상된 후처리장치, 청정연료 그리고 연료품질향상을 통해 자동차의 배출가스 감소를 위하여 지속적으로 노력해 왔다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 자동차의 증발가스와 성능, 환경성에 대해 살펴보고자 하였으며, 연료의 옥탄가 향상제로 쓰이는 바이오 에탄올, 바이오 부탄올, 바이오 ETBE (Ethyl Tertia ry Butyl Ether), MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether)가 환경에 미치는 문제점에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 주로 휘발유의 옥탄가 향상제로 쓰이는 바이오 에탄올, 바이오 부탄올, 바이오 ETBE, MTBE가 휘발유 연료 특성 중 증발가스에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보았으며, 바이오 연료 특성에 대한 가솔린 자동차의 가속 및 동력 성능을 살펴보았다. 실험결과 증발가스는 최대 1.04g/test로 모든 시험 연료가 국내 배출가스 기준에 부합함을 알 수 있었으며, 원료에 대한 증기압 측정 결과 바이오에탄올 15kPa, 바이오 부탄올 1.6k Pa로 E3급 연료 제조 시 바이오 부탄올 함유량을 늘리면 증기압과 증발가스 또한 낮게 나타났다. 또한, 바이오 연료의 종류에 따라 유사한 가속 및 동력 성능을 나타내었으며, 바이오 부탄올과 바이오 에탄올 비교시 가속 성능이 약 3.9%, 출력은 0.8% 개선되었다.

유류오염물질의 GPR 반응에 대한 모델 실험 연구 (Experiments on the GPR Reposnse of the Organic Hydrocarbons)

  • 휘발유와 같은 유기탄화수소계 오염 물질인 유류가 지하 분포 시, 불포화대에 분포하는 가스상(또는 증기상)유류와 지하수 포화대에 포획되어있는 잔류상 유류 오염 물질이 GPR(Ground Penetrating Radar)에 미치는 반응을 조사하기 위하여 모델 실험을 수행하였다. 모델 실험에는 모래와 자갈을 토양 매질로서 채운 탱크를 이용하였고, 유류 수송을 위한 매설 파이프 또는 지하 유류저장탱크로부터 유류의 누출을 모사하기 위하여 모델 탱크 바닥으로부터 물과 휘발유를 주입 또는 배출하여 지하수면의 상승과 하강을 유도하면서 다양한 상의 LNAPL지하분포를 모사하여 GPR 측정을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 불포화대에서 매질의 수분함량 증가에 따른 레이다 파의 속도 감소를 보이는 민감한 GPR 반응이 관측되었으며, 지하수면의 상승과 하강에 따른 지하수면 위치 변화 관측에 있어서 GPR의 유용성이 입증되었다. 본 연구에서 모관대를 형성하고 있는 매질의 대수층에서는 실제 지하수면 대신 모관대의 상부가 지구물리학적 지하수면으로 탐지되었다. 또한 휘발유 주입 이후 형성된 불포화대내 가스상 LNAPL은 매질의 전기적 성질의 변화를 유도하여 레이다 파의 감쇠를 야기하는 GPR 반응을 나타내었다. 포화대 내의 잔류상 LNAPL에 대한 GPR 반응은 레이다 파의 매질내 속도 및 에너지 투과성을 향상시킴으로써 지하수면 상승으로 포화대에 포획된 잔류상 유류오염물질를 포함하는 대수층 지역의 탐지 가능성을 보여 주었다. 이는 유류오염물질이 지하수면 아래의 포화대에 잔류상의 형태로 분포하는 오염지역에서 GPR를 이용하여 유류오염지역을 탐지할 수 있는 새로운 탐사전략의 근거를 제공한다.

수도권 지역에서 기상-대기질 모델링을 위한 VOC와 PM2.5의 화학종 분류 및 시간분배계수 산정 (Estimation of Chemical Speciation and Temporal Allocation Factor of VOC and PM2.5 for the Weather-Air Quality Modeling in the Seoul Metropolitan Area)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 휘발성 유기화합물(VOC)과 먼지(PM)의 배출원 프로파일로부터 화학종 분류를 할당하고, 성김 행렬 조작자 핵심 배출량 시스템(SMOKE) 내에 배출원 분류코드에 따른 배출원 프로파일의 화학종 분류와 시간분배계수를 수정하는 것이다. 기솔린, 디젤 증기, 도장, 세탁, LPG 등과 같은 VOC 배출원 프로파일로부터 화학 종 분류는 탄소 결합 IV (CBIV) 화학 메커니즘과 주 규모 대기오염연구센터 99 (SAPRC99) 화학 메커니즘을 위해 각각 12종과 34종을 포함한다. 또한 토양, 도로먼지, 가솔린, 디젤차, 산업기원, 도시 소각장, 탄 연소 발전소, 생체 연소, 해안 등과 같은 PM2.5 배출원 프로파일로부터 화학종 분류는 미세 먼지, 유기탄소, 원소 탄소, 질산염과 황산염의 5종으로 할당하였다. 게다가 점 및 선 배출원의 시간 프로파일은 2007년 수도권 지역에서의 굴뚝 원격감시시스템(TMS)과 시간별 교통 흐름 자료로부터 구하였다. 특별히 점 배출원에 있어 오존 모델링을 위한 시간분배계수는 굴뚝 원격감시시스템 자료의 $NO_X$ 배출량 인벤토리에 근거하여 추정하였다.

  • TBA(tert-butyl alcohol)와 ethanol로부터 고체산 촉매상에서 가솔린 옥탄가 향상제인 ETBE(ethyl tert-butyl ether)의 기상 합성반응에 관하여 연구하였다. 헤테로폴리산 촉매가 제올라이트계 촉매보다 활성이 우수하였으며, $H_4SiW_{12}O_{40}$촉매는 현재 공업적으로 이용되고 있는 Amberlyst-15 수지촉매의 대체가능성을 보였다. 또한 전이금속 양이온으로 교환된 헤테로폴리산 촉매는 수소환원에 의한 새로운 산점의 생성 및 증가에 따라 촉매활성이 크게 증가되었다. 이러한 수소환원 효과는 촉매의 환원특성과 관계되며, 환원 용이성은 $Ag^+$>$Cu^{2+}$>$Fe^{2+}$의 순서였다.

여수석유화학산단 내 VOCs에 대한 오염원 분류표의 개발 및 CMB 모델에 의한 기여도 산정 (Development of Source Profiles and Estimation of Source Contribution for VOCs by the Chemical Mass Balance Model in the Yeosu Petrochemical Industrial Complex)

  • The purposes of this study were to characterize the local levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), to develop source profiles of VOCs, and to quantify the source contribution of VOCs using the CMB (chemical mass balance) model. The concentration of VOCs had been measured every 6-day duration in the SRO monitoring site in the Yeosu Petrochemical Industrial Complex from September 2000 to August 2002. The total of 35 target VOCs, which were included in the TO-14 designated from the U.S. EPA, was selected to be monitored in the study area. During a 24-h period, the ambient VOCs were sampled by using canisters placing about 10 ~ 15 m above the ground level. The collected canisters were then analyzed by a GC-MS in the laboratory. Aside from ambient sampling at the SRO site, the VOCs had been intensively and massively measured from 8 direct sources and 4 general sources in the study area. The results obtained in the study were as follows; first, the annual mean concentrations of the target VOCs were widely distributed regardless of monitoring sites in the Yeosu Petrochemical Industrial Complex. In particular, the concentrations of BTX (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene), vinyl chloride were higher than other target compounds. Second, based on these source sample data, source profiles for VOCs were developed to apply a receptor model, the CMB model. Third, the results of source apportionment study for the VOCs in the SRO Site were as follows; The source of petrochemical plant was apportioned by 31.3% in terms of VOCs mass. The site was also affected by 16.7% from wastewater treatment plant, 14.0% from iron mills, 8.4% from refineries, 4.4% from oil storage, 3.8% from automobiles, 2.3% from fertilizer, 2.3% from painting, 2.2% from waste incinerator, 0.6% from graphic art, and 0.4% from gasoline vapor sources.
