원자력 발전소용 압력용기의 볼트 연결 조립부 구조설계를 위한 3차원 접촉 응력 해석 (Three-Dimensional Contact Stress Analysis for Structural Design of Bolted Joint Assembly of Pressure Vessels in Nuclear Power Plants)

  • Bolted joint assembly for nuclear power plants consists of various components : cover plate, retainer plate, manway flange, gasket and stud bolts/nuts. To guarantee the soundness of the joint, it is important to prevent leakage through the gasket and reduce the stress concentration factor at the thread root. In this paper, Submodeling technique for the finite element method is proposed to accurately compute three dimensional contact stresses which govern the sealing performance and the maximum contact stresses at the threads root. For verification of global solutions used as boundary conditions of submodel solution, the stresses on the cover plate and the manway flange are measured by strain gages when internal pressure is applied to the bolted joint assembly. The numerical results are compared with the experimental results.

  • This paper presents the analysis technique and procedure of main engine components-cylinder block, cylinder liners, gasket and cylinder head-using the finite element method, which aims to assess mainly the potential of lower oil consumption in a view point of engine design and to decide subsequently the accuracy of engine design which was done. The F.E. model of an engine section consisting of one whole cylinder and two adjacent half cylinders is used, whereby the crankcase is cut off at the block bottom deck. By means of a 3-dimensional F.E. model-including cylinder block, liners, gasket, cylinder head, bolts and valve seat rings as separate parts a linear analysis of deformations and stresses was performed for three different loading conditions;assembly, thermal and gas loads. For the analysis of thermal boundary conditions also the temperature field had to be evaluated in a subsequent step.

  • In this study, finite element analysis is carried out to estimate horizontal forces needed for the required power calculation and vertical forces applied on the structural analysis model for the development of automatic serrated surface at metal gasket core machining system. By considering of elasto-plastic material characteristics, nonlinear contact analysis was conducted to compute these loads according to the change of roll reduction, frictional coefficient and core thickness. As the result, horizontal and vertical reaction force variations are found according to parameters and maximum reaction force is also confirmed to be most affected by roll reduction.

엔진 냉각 시스템 개선에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Engine Cooling System Improvement)

  • This paper describes the improvement of engine cooling system. To improve engine cooling performance, the authors approached in two ways. One is to increase water pump performance, changing of impeller shape and lightening of material were carried out. The second one is cooling efficiency rise, which were investigated with head gasket coolant flow passage optimization with flow visualization technique. The test results show that water pump performance was increased effectively, reduction of pump drive torque, and increase of pump flow-rate and pressure rise. Gasket hole pattern optimization test results represent an optimized head coolant flow which stands cross flow from exhaust to intake port side and small vortex were removed.

  • A full-bead of multi-layer-steel engine head gasket, taking charge of the dynamic sealing of combustion chamber, is susceptible to fatigue failure. The fatigue durability of full-bead was assessed with the finite element analysis results and the high-cycle multi-axial fatigue theory. The assessment aimed to reveal the effects of the forming parameters and dimensions of full-bead. The results show that the selection of embossing parameters producing less deformation of bead plate is beneficial for the improvement of durability while the flatting has marginal influence. The fatigue durability also improves with the increase in the width of full-bead and the radial length of bore-side flat region. However, the dimensional effects are limited due to the occurrence of snap-through.

  • Flow fields in model engine cooling passages are studied numerically by using TURBO-3D program, a finite volume based 3-D turbulent flow program adopting a general body fitted coordinate system. The effects of exit position on mass flow rate at each gasket hole are examined for a model cooling passage in order to understand the flow distribution inside the water jacket. The results of the present study can be applied to the design of high performance, high reliability engine.

식품병마개 PVC gasket과 식품에 함유된 semicarbazide의 분석 (Determination of Semicarbazide in PVC Gaskets of Food Bottle Cap and Foods)

  • 본 연구는 식품병마개 PVC 가스켓과 식품에 함유된 SEM을 효과적으로 분석하기 위해 연구했다. SEM은 발포제로 사용되는 ADC의 열분해산물로 알려졌다. 그러나 SEM은 분자량이 낮으며 ultraviolet light나 fluorescence에 활성을 갖지 않는다. 따라서 2-NBA-SEM으로 유도체화하여 HPLC triple column system으로 분석했을 때 상관관계는 0.9997이상이며 검출한계는 0.48ng/g으로 나타났다. 식품병마개 PVC 가스켓에서 SEM의 검출율은 77.08%로 나타났으며, 유통중인 병마개 PVC 가스켓에서 SEM은 812.20-5771.30ng/g 수준이였다. 그리고 회수율은 PVC 가스켓과 식품에서 각각 92.12-98.71%와 83.45-97.33%로 측정되었다.

냉장고 역열손실 방법의 수치해석적 분석에 관한 연구 (A Numerical Analysis of the Reverse Heat Loss Method for a Refrigerator)

  • 본 연구는 냉장고의 열전달 특성을 예측하기 위하여 냉장고를 가동하지 않은 상태에서 역열손실 방법에 대한 수치해석과 실험을 수행하였다. 측정된 온도와 투입한 열량의 관계로부터 투입한 열량은 거의 선형적으로 냉장고 내외부 온도차와 비례함을 알 수 있었다. 냉장고 문과 본체사이의 가스켓 영역에서 열손실에 관한 열전도율은 실험과 수치해석의 비교를 통해 도출하였다. 수치해석을 통해 구한 열손실은 실험을 통한 열손실과 비교할 때 오차 범위 1.8% 이하의 정확도로 예측되었다. 이러한 정확도의 수치해석 방법으로 냉장고 진공 단열재의 열전도도 변화에 대한 열손실 저감 효과를 살펴보았다.

  • 자동차 엔진 개스킷용 아크릴 고무(ACM)의 재료 특성과 수명 예측에 관하여 연구하였다. 클로린 가교사이트를 포함하는 ACM (Chlorine Cure-Site ACM)과 카르복실기 가교사이트를 포함하는 ACM (Carboxyl Cure-Site ACM)을 이용하여 최적상태의 배합물을 제작하여 특성을 살펴보았다. 엔진용 개스킷의 주요한 특성인 열과, 엔진오일에서의 압축영구줄음율을 시험 평가한 결과 Carboxyl Cure-Site ACM 배합물이 상대적으로 더 우수한 것으로 나타났다. Carboxyl Cure-Site ACM 고무 재료에 대한 수명을 예측하기 위해 가속열노화시험을 수행하여 시간-온도 환산식인 아레니우스(Arrhenius) 관계식을 구하였다.
