예혼합 화염이 벽면에 충돌시 열전달 및 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study for Heat Transfer and Combustion Characteristics of Gaseous Impinging Jet Premixed Flame)

  • In the present study, the structure and the characteristics of gaseous premixed flame impinging normal to the flat plate have been investigated experimentally. For the examination of the heat transfer and combustion characteristics, measurements of temperature, direct and schlieren photography were performed. The results of present study show that the length of inner flame becomes smaller as distance from nozzle exit to plate decrease. The width of flame becomes larger as air-fuel ratio decreases. The smaller Reynolds number at nozzle exit and the smaller distance from nozzle exit to plate lead to the higher heat transfer rate in the region of center of plate. As the air-fuel ratio decreases, the heat transfer at plate with moderate rate occurs on wide region.

Combustion of PMMA in Liquid Oxygen Flow

  • Our previous study showed that although the hybrid rocket engine with swirling gaseous oxygen had high performance, a direct injection of LOX with swirl into the combustion chamber of the hybrid rocket engine lowered the performance of the engine, compared to that with gaseous oxygen. In order to clarify this reason, combustion tests of a small PMMA combustor with an inner port diameter of 2 mm were conducted in liquid oxygen flow by comparison with gaseous oxygen flow. Although the oxygen mass fluxes of LOX were about two orders of magnitude larger than those of gaseous oxygen, the fuel regression rate of LOX were remarkably smaller than those of gaseous oxygen. For both liquid and gaseous oxygen, diffusion flames in the port of the grain controlled the combustion process of PMMA in oxygen flow. These results may be explained by the fact that only small amount of LOX vaporized and consumed in the combustion with PMMA while flowing through the port due to relatively larger latent heat of injected liquid oxygen compared to the heat of release by combustion which depended on the burning surface area of PMMA.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis of how to calculate fuel efficiency in major development countries (U.S. and Europe) and energy consumption formular derivation of domestic CNG fuel and prove by vehicle test. The formula of fuel consumption is different in mpg(mile per gallon), l/100km, and km/l each countries. CNG fuel has a significant impact on fuel density, composition, and Hydro-Carbon ratio. So, this study how to measurement and calculation procedures of CNG gaseous fueled vehicle energy consumption rate.

밀폐공간에서 가스폭발에 의한 개구발생 후의 압력변화에 대한 해석 (Analysis of the Pressure Behavior with the Partial Rupture in Closed Vessel During Gaseous Explosion)

  • A numerical study on gaseous explosion was carried out to predict the transient pressure behavior with the partial rupture in confined vessels. Equations, assumptions and solutions for central ignition of premixed gases in closed spherical vessels are proposed with various equivalence ratios of gas fuel, as $CH_4$ and $C_3H_8$, vent areas and vent opening pressures. Given vent opening pressure in a vessel, the magnitude of second peak pressure results from the vent areas and burning velocity, varied by equivalence ratio of gas fuel. In a living room of an apartment, the higher second peak pressure than the vent pressure is not appeared due to its large window areas. As vent opening pressure is higher, the larger damage by gaseous explosion is expected and the larger vent area is necessary for relieving the damage. In the same concentration, the gaseous explosion by propane rather than methane shows the larger damage due to its higher adiabatic flame temperature and equivalence ratio.

  • 천연가스는 전세계적으로 매장량이 풍부하며 청정성과 경제성을 동시에 갖춘 연료로써 향후 자동차용 연료로 널리 사용될 전망이다. 천연가스를 사용하는 엔진의 출력 및 배출가스 특성을 최적화하기 위해서는 연료량 제어가 필수적이며 이를 위해서는 분사기의 성능이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 대형 가스엔진에 고유량을 공급할 수 있는 가스분사기를 직접 개발하여 실제 엔진에 장착하여 기존의 고유량 가스분사기와 성능을 비교하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 가스분사기는 듀티 증가에 따라 선형적인 유량 특성을 지니고 있음을 파악하였으며 이를 통해 분사량 제어성이 우수하다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 듀티 10% 미만의 조건에서도 분사유량은 선형성을 지니고 있으며 제어성도 우수하다.

  • A dust injection system was developed for the lime calcining rotary kiln for the coke dust from the coke dry quenching(CDQ) facility to be used as a fuel. The CDQ dust was injected with the gaseous fuel through the hole in the burner. In order to prevent the spot heating large particles should be removed from dust and dust should be injected as fast as possible so that particle combustion lasts as long as possible without precipitation. This is especially necessary when dust is burned together with gaseous fuel because the gaseous fuel can not go so far and in addition dust combustion aggravates hot spot heating. In this research a rotation drum screen was used to remove particles with diameter larger than 4mm and dust injection speed was 40m/sec. And the burner was adjusted not to use swirl that hinders flame go far away. With these measures scale generation iside the kiln could be reduced to be negligible and in addition NOx emission could be reduced from 150ppm to 20ppm. The fuel reduction was about 85Mcal/T-lime.

  • In the iron ore sinter process, temperature distribution pattern in sintering bed is related with productivity and quality of sintered ore. Evenly heat distribution make the uniform quality of sintered ore but in normal operating condition, upper part of bed has lack of heat and scarce quality of sintered ore, thus yeild rate is decreased and productivity is diminished. Therefore, using the additional fuel for increasing quality and flue gas recirculation for increasing productivity are considered and effect of both processes are discussed.

  • Trends of the automotive market require the application of new engine technologies, which allows for the use of different types of fuel. Since ethanol is a renewable source of energy and it contributes to lower $CO_2$ emissions, ethanol produced from biomass is expected to increase in use as an alternative fuel. It is recognized that for spark ignition (SI) engines ethanol has advantages of high octane number and high combustion speed. In spite of the advantages of ethanol, fuel supply system might be affected by fuel blends with ethanol like a wear and corrosion of electric fuel pumps. So the on-board hydrogen production out of ethanol reforming can be considered as an alternative plan. This paper investigates the influence of ethanol fuel on SI engine performance, thermal efficiency and emissions. The combustion characteristics with hydrogen-enriched gaseous fuel from ethanol reforming are also examined.

  • The autoignition and subsequent flame propagation of initially nonpremixed turbulent system have been numerically analyzed. The unsteady flamelet modeling based on the RIF (Representative Interactive Flamelet) concept has been employed to account for the influences of turbulence on these essentially transient combustion processes. In this RIF approach, the partially premixed burning, diffusive combustion and formation of pollutants(NOx, soot) can be consistently modeled by utilizing the comprehensive chemical mechanism. To treat the spatially distributed inhomogeneity of scalar dissipation rate, the multiple RIFs are employed in the framework of EPFM(Eulerian Particle Flamelet Model) approach. Computations are made for the various initial conditions of pressure, temperature, and fuel composition. The present turbulent combustion model reasonably well predicts the essential features of autoignition process in the transient gaseous fuel jets injected into high pressure and temperature environment.
