Use of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Analysis of Fennel Essential Oil

  • A simple and rapid method based on proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was developed for determination of trans-anethole content in fennel essential oil. Spectra of pure trans-anethole, of the pure essential oil of fennel, and of the pure oil of fennel with thymol internal standard were recorded. The signal of $H-1^/$ was used for quantification of trans-anethole. This proton signal is well separated in the proton magnetic resonance spectrum of the compound. No reference compound is needed and cheap internal standard was used. The results obtained from spectroscopic analysis were compared with those obtained by gas chromatography. Additionally, the developed method was used for determination of the type of vegetable oil used as a carrier in commercial products, which cannot be quantified as such by gas chromatography. This study demonstrates the application of proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as a quality control method for estimation of essential oil components.

SPME법을 이용한 식물정유 성분분석을 통한 유해가스 제거 특성연구 (Study of Toxic Gas Removal Characteristics by Chemical Analysis of Essential Oil using SPME Method)

  • 본 논문은 식물정유를 이용해 유해가스를 처리하는 경우에 식물정유의 주요구성성분을 파악하고 이를 통해 처리효율을 규명하는데 연구하였다. 또한 식물정유와 암모니아 가스에 의한 암모니아 제거반응 메카니즘을 규명하였으며 그 결과는 아래와 같다. 1) 암모니아 가스는 중화반응에 의해 처리되는 경우에 식물정유의 화학구조에서 알코올기, 알데히드기 그리고 에스터기가 관여한다는 것을 밝혀냈다. 실험결과 앞서 언급한 화학작용기가 포함되어 있는 경우에 암모니아 가스와 중화반응으로 염을 형성하여 유해가스 제거과정을 갖는다 2) 암모니아가스를 제거하는 중화반응의 경우에 온도와 pH에 따라 처리효율을 크게 달라졌으며 온도는 높은 온도보다는 적정 온도에서 제거효율이 거의 98%이상 제거되었으며 적정 pH는 pH가 중성인 경우에 최고의 처리효율이 얻어졌다. 3) 암모니아 가스의 처리효율은 식물정유을 통해 20분 이내에 암모니아 가스 처리 효율이 98% 이상 처리되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Citronella oil, an essential oil extracted through steam distillation from the leaves and stems of Cymbopogon, is a natural complex substance (NCS) regulated by the Korean government for its use in insect repellents. The component ratios of NCSs like citronella oil vary due to differences in manufacturing processes and origins, presenting a challenge in identifying and quantifying these substances in consumer chemical products. This study analysed ten commercially available products of the most commonly used types of citronella oil, specifically Java and Ceylon types, using gas chromatography (GC)-mass spectrometry (MS) and GC with flame ionization detection (FID). Through chromatographic data, we aimed to determine the components that can qualitatively identify citronella oil and the indicator ingredients that can be used for content analysis.

침엽수를 이용한 암모니아 가스 제거효율 연구 (Study of ammonia-gas removal′s characteristics using wood-material)

  • This paper was investigated to clarify the possibility of ammonia-gas removal by essential oil. First of all, the chemical analysis was performed to analyze the composition of an essential oil by GC-MS. The monoterpenes in an essential oil react with ammonia by neutralization and their reaction mechanism was elucidated. Based on their chemical neutralized reaction, the removal efficiencies of ammonia gas were studied to derive the optimal conditions in the scrubber tower such as optimal temperature and pH. The experimental result shows that the removal efficiency of ammonia gas was achieved over 80 % by the misty aerosol dispersion of scrubber tower.

  • This paper describes for the diagnosis insulating oil for transformers integrity assessment. The high-capacity oil transformer has several insulators are entered for the purpose of insulation, such as insulating oil, insulating paper and press board. Irradiated with a gas component dissolved in the insulating oil can analyze the status of the transformer, and can prevent a sudden accident in advance.

  • This paper represents an analysis of the economic impact of firing natural gas/diesel and natural gas/by-product oil mixtures in diesel engine power plants. The objects of analysis is a power plant with electricity generation capacity (300 kW). Using performance data of original diesel engines, the fuel consumption characteristics of the duel fuel engines were simulated. Then, economic assessment was carried out using the performance data and the net present value method. A special focus was given to the evaluation of fuel cost saving when firing natural gas/diesel and natural gas/by-product oil mixtures instead of the pure diesel firing case. Analyses were performed by assuming fuel price changes in the market as well as by using current prices. The analysis results showed that co-firing of natural gas/diesel and natural gas/by-product oil would provide considerable fuel cost saving, leading to meaningful economic benefits.

  • 모든 원유 (crude oil)와 제품유 (petroleum product)는 서로 구별되는 탄화수소특성을 가지고 있다. 원유의 경우 산지별로 고유한 특성을 지니고 있으며, 제품유의 경우 같은 유종이라 할지라도 그 원료가 되는 원유의 특성, 생산공정, 생산시기 등에서 차이점이 발생한다. 즉, 생산시기가 동일하다 할지라도 선박의 연료탱크내에 남아있는 잔류유와의 혼합 동에 의해 구별되는 특징을 가지게 되며 이러한 특성을 이용한 기법을 유지문기법(oil fingerprint method) 이라 한다. 본 연구에서는 최근 새로운 유지문기법으로 활용 가능성이 대두되고 있는 2 차원 가스크로마토그래프 (Comprehensive Two Dimensional Gas Chromatography)를 이용하여 기존의 가스크로마토그래프 (GC)와 가스크로마토그래프 질량분석기 (GC/MS) 와의 분석방법 비교 등을 통해 유지문 분석기법의 실효성에 대해서 논하고자 한다.

  • This paper describes development of power transformer maintenance system using intelligent dissolved gases in oil analysis. The used gases are acetylene(C2H2), hydrogen(H2), ethylene(C2H4), methane(CH4), ethane(C2H6), carbon monoxide(CO) and carbon dioxide(CO2). The rule and neural network based gas analysis methods are used for artificial intelligent diagnosis. It is indicated that this program is efficient for diagnosis of oil immersed transformers diagnosis from application of gas analysis data of serviced transformer which has local overheating

오일 생산정에서 쵸크사이즈와 가스주입량에 따른 생산성 예측 인공신경망 모델 개발 (Development of Productivity Prediction Model according to Choke Size and Gas Injection Rate by using ANN(Artificial Neural Network) at Oil Producer)

  • 본 연구에서는 초크크기와 가스주입량을 조절함으로써 일반 유정이나 가스리프트가 적용된 유정에서 최적생산량을 산출할 수 있는 두 가지 인공신경망 모델을 개발하였다. 개발된 모델들의 입력자료는 용해가스-오일비, 물 생산 비율, 저류층압력, 초크크기 또는 가스주입량이고 출력자료는 정두압력과 오일 생산량으로 구성하였다. 먼저 육상 유정 시스템에 대하여 입력자료의 민감도 분석을 통해 각 변수의 범위를 결정하였고, 노달분석을 수행하여 초크크기 선정 모델에 1,715개, 가스주입량 선정 모델에 1,225개의 훈련자료를 각각 생성하였다. 동일한 저류층 자료에 대해 노달분석과 인공신경망 모델 결과를 비교해보면 두 모델 모두 결정계수 값이 0.99 이상으로 상관관계가 매우 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 초크크기 선정 모델의 정두압력과 오일 생산량의 평균절대백분율오차는 각각 0.55%, 1.05%이고, 가스주입량 선정 모델의 정두압력과 오일 생산량의 평균절대백분율오차는 각각 1.23%, 2.67%로 개발된 모델의 정확도가 높은 것으로 확인되었다.

  • This paper addresses the analysis of the combustion characteristics in the oil burner using swirl flow. The reduction of exhaust emissions and high efficiency combustion techniques of the industrial burner have been studied to conserve environmental resources. We make swirl burner equal to dimension of wide burner and it is turn round of the combustion gas in construction. For a vigorous inner flow possessde 3m/s velocity in combustion gas of two burners. In calculation, we make use of a densely mesh to detailed analysis. In this study, the effect of swirl flow on the combustion of a commercial burner is analysed by experimental and also simulative manner. The results show the swirl burner has 40% better efficiency and less emissions of CO, HC, NOx and Smoke.
