  • In this study, the generation of oxygen-free gas using catalytic combustion for industrial applications is explained ; heat treatment and copper annealing. For the experiment, Pd catalysts were determined by testing their catalytic activities over LPG in a micro-reactor. Combustion characteristics for the generation of oxygen-free atmospheric gas and the effect of flue gas upon surface oxidation were estimated form this experiment. As a result of the experimental investigation, we can state that the catalytic combustion could generate oxygen-free atmospheric gas suitable for industrial applications, but vapor produced by combustion process must be carefully considered as a new factor of surface oxidation.

  • In oil-filled equipment such as transformers, partial discharge or local overheating will make insulating material(oil, kraft paper, proclain and wood) be stressed and generate many sort of gases($CO,\;CO_2,\;H_2,\;C_2H_4$) which are dissolved in transformer oil. The ratio of this gas can make diagnostic tecchniques of the lifetime of transfomer so, it is important to monitoring $H_2$ gas continuously. This paper developes a system of detecting about $H_2$ gas by using $H_2$ gas sensor, and we describe operation and performance of this system

  • This paper is investigated about the effect of carrier gas and humidity for generating hydrogen gas. In the experimental result of generating hydrogen gas by non-thermal plasma reactor, the rate of generating hydrogen gas is different with what kind of carrier gas is. We used two types of carrier gas, such as $N_2$ and He. $N_2$ as carrier gas is more efficient to generate hydrogen gas than He because $N_2$ is reacted with $O_2$, which is made from water dissociation. In comparison with no humidity and humidity 45[%], the generation of hydrogen gas is decreased with increasing the humidity. That is the result that the energy for water dissociation is reduced on water surface because a part of plasma energy is absorbed at the small particle produced from humidifier.

  • This paper is investigated about the effect of carrier gas type and the humidity for generating hydrogen gas. The vibration of the water surface is more powerful with increasing applied voltage. In this experimental reactor which is made of multi-needle and plate, the maximum acquired hydrogen production rate is about 3500 ppm. In comparison with water droplet by humidifier and without water droplet by humidifier, the generation of hydrogen gas is decreased in case of water droplet by humidifier. That is the result that the energy for water dissociation is reduced on water surface because a part of plasma energy is absorbed at the small water molecular produced from humidifier.

  • This is a report of a feasibility study on the reduction of harmful substances such as particulate matters and nitric oxides emitted from diesel engines by using a plasma reforming system that can generate hydrogen-rich gas. In this paper, an exhaust reduction mechanism of the non-thermal plasma reaction was investigated to perform its efficiency and characteristics on producing hydrogen-rich gas. Firstly, we explain briefly the chemistry of hydrocarbon reforming. The experimental system is showed in the second part. Finally, we demonstrate the feasibility of producing hydrogen using non-thermal plasma. The experimental results are focused on the influence of the different operating parameters (air ratio, inlet flow rates, voltage) on the reformer efficiency and the composition of the produced gas.

  • Synthesis gas such as hydrogen and carbon monoxide was produced from $CH_4//oxygen$ mixture using two-section porous media combustor. Heat recirculation through the inner foam structure could extend the flow velocity of stable region over the laminar burning velocity. $H_2/CO$ ratio and module M from concentration of flue gas measured by Gas Chromatography was similar to those calculated by equilibrium. But it was made sure that the heat loss effect becomes more influential than heat recirculation effect as the mixture gets richer. To generate synthesis gas appropriate for methanol production, insulated pressurized porous media combustor will be designed and built in the future.

  • Gas generator is the equipment to produce high enthalpy gas used to generate sufficient power to operate turbine and pump system for propellant feeding in liquid rocket engine. Since the limit in operating temperature is imposed due to turbine blade, the gas generator has to be operated at the temperature far below stoichiometric maintaining fuel rich combustion. In this research, fundamental study was performed to understand the non-equilibrium combustion process with in-house code and CFD-ACE as well.

  • Present study deals with performance analysis of an inert gas generator (IGG) which can be used as effective means to suppress fire. The IGG uses a turbo-jet engine to generate inert gas for fire extinguishing. It is generally known that a less degree of oxygen content in the product of combustion will increase the effectiveness of fire extinguishing. An inert gas generator system with water injection has advantages of suffocating and cooling effects that are very important factors for fire extinguishing. Some aspects of influencing parameters, such as, air excess coefficient, compressor pressure ratio, air temperature before combustion chamber, gas temperature after combustion chamber, mass flow rate of water injection etc. on the performance of IGG system are investigated.

  • During the hypothetical loss of coolant accident in the nuclear power plant the emergency core cooling water could not penetrate to the reactor core when the steam flow rate from the reactor core exceeds CCFL (Countercurrent flow limitation). The CCFL generated by earlier investigators are developed under the steady gas flow. However the flow instability in the reactor loop could generate oscillatory steam flow, hence their applicability under oscillating flow should be investigated. In this work, an experimental investigation of countercurrent flow in the vertical flow channel has been conducted under oscillatory gas flow. Pulsation of gas under oscillatory flow disturbs the flow pattern significantly and prevents flooding (CCFL) when its minimum value is less than the threshold gas flow rate value.
