폐회로 디젤엔진의 동작가스 유동 시뮬레이션 프로그램 개발 (Development of Simulation Program for the Working Gas Flow of the Closed Cycle Diesel Engine)

  • The measurement on the working gas flow in the closed cycle diesel engine is insufficient to Identify its operating condition because of lack of sensors available. For this reason, the determination of optimum operating condition and controller parameters requires heavy experimental efforts. A simulation program is developed to minimize the experimental efforts. For the development of the simulation program, mathematical models are derived based on the physical laws and linear regression. The validity of the simulation program is demonstrated using the measured data of the closed cycle diesel engine.

DME를 연료로 하는 압축 착화 엔진용 고압연료 펌프의 성능 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Performance of High Pressure Fuel Pumps for Compression Ignition Engines Fueled by DME)

  • In this study, the performance of high-pressure fuel pumps was compared to find a high-pressure pump suitable for dimethyl ether (DME) fuel, and to establish a database of basic data on flow rates. The use of DME in compression ignition engines can reduce pollutant emissions. The cetane value of DME is higher than that of diesel fuel. The physical properties of DME are similar to liquefied gasoline gas (LPG), and when pressurized at a pressure of 6 bar or more, it changes from gas to liquid. Two types of high pressure pumps used in this study were independent injection type pump and a wobble plate type pump. Two high-pressure pumps with different injection types were compared. By measuring and comparing the performance changes of the two high-pressure pumps, a pump suitable for DME was selected and performance improvement measures were proposed. The changed experimental conditions to measure the performance change of the high pressure pump were increased in the units of 100 to 1,000 rpm and 100 rpm, and the experiment was performed at common rail pressures 300 and 400 bar. it was confirmed that the DME inside the fuel supply system remained in a liquid state through temperature sensors, pressure sensors, and pressure gauges. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the flow rate discharged from the high-pressure fuel pump increased as the motor rotational speed increased, and the flow rate of the high-pressure fuel pump

미소 빔 구조를 가진 압저항형 유체센서의 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Characteristics of Piezoresistive Flow Sensor with Microbeam Structures)

  • (100), n/$n^+$/n 3층 실리콘 웨이퍼를 이용하여 4가지 형태의 미소 빔 구조를 가지는 압저항형 유체센서를 제작하고, 그 특성을 조사하였다. Boron 확산을 통하여 압저항을 형성하였으며 형성된 압저항의 저항 값은 $1\;k{\Omega}$ 정도였다. 다공질 실리콘 마이크로머시닝을 이용하여 3차원의 실리콘 미소 빔 구조체를 제작하였으며, 실리콘과 금속의 열팽창계수 차이를 이용하여 빔을 위로 휘게 하여 원하는 형상으로 제조하였다. 제조된 센서의 출력 특성은 half-bridge를 구성하여 조사하였다. 같은 유속에서는 빔의 길이에 비례하여 출력 전압이 증가함을 보였고, 반면에 빔의 길이가 짧을수록 측정 가능 구간이 넓게 나타났다. 제조된 센서의 출력전압은 유량의 3.2승에 비례하여 증가하였으며, 이는 유속에 따른 빔이 받는 응력이 비 선형 특성을 나타내기 때문이다.

  • Most of the fossil power plants firing lower grade coals are challenged with maintaining good combustion conditions while maximizing generation and minimizing emissions. In many cases significant derate, availability losses and increase in unburned carbon levels can be attributed to poor combustion conditions as a result of poorly controlled local fuel and air distribution within the boiler furnace. The poor combustion conditions are directly related to the gas flow deviation in upper furnace and convection tube-bank but a less reported issue related to in large-scale oppose wall fired boilers. In order to develop a on-line combustion monitoring system and suggest an alternative heat flux estimation method at tube bank, which is very useful information for boiler design tool and blower optimizing system, field test was conducted at operating power boiler. During the field test the exhaust gases' temperature and tube metal temperature were monitored by using a spatially distributed sensors grid which located in the boiler's high temperature vestibule region. At these locations. the flue gas flow is still significantly stratified, and air in-leakage is minimal which enables tracing of poor combustion zones to specific burners and over-fire air ports. Test results showed that the flue gas monitoring method is more proper than metal temperature distribution monitoring for real time combustion monitoring because tube metal temp. distribution monitoring method is related to so many variables such as flue gas, internal flow unbalance, spray etc., Heat flux estimation at the tube bank with flue gas temp. and metal temp. data can be alternative method when tube drilling type sensor can't able to use.

A Fuel Spiking Test for the Surge Margin Measurement in Gas Turbine Engines

  • A fuel spiking test was performed to measure the surge margin of the compressor in a gas turbine engine. During the test, fuel spiking signal was superimposed on the engine controller demand and the mixed signals were used to control a fuel line servo-valve. For the superimposition, a subsystem composed of a fuel controller and a function generator was used. During the fuel spiking test, the original scheduled fuel signals and the modified signals were compared to guarantee the consistency excluding the spiking signals. The spiking signals were carefully selected to maintain the engine speed constant. The fuel spiking effects were checked by three dynamic pressure sensors. Sensors were placed before the servo-valve, after the servo-valve, and after the compressor location, respectively. The modulations of the spiking signal duration and fuel flow rate were examined to make the- operating point approach the surge region. The real engine test was performed at the Altitude Engine Test Facility (AETF) in Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). In the real engine test, fuel spiking signals with 25~50 ㎳ of spiking signal time and 17~46 % of base fuel flow rate condition were used. The dithering signal was 5~6 ㎃ at 490 Hz. The test results showed good agreement between the fuel spiking signals and the fuel line pressure signals. Also, the compressor discharge pressure signals showed fuel spiking effects and the changes of the operating point on the compressor characteristic map could be traced.

연속 기체흐름계 및 일시 기체흐름계에서의 고체 전해질 $CO_2$ 가스센서의 열역학적 분석 (Thermodynamic Analysis of Solid Electrolyte $CO_2$ Sensor in Continuous and Discontinuous Flow Systems)

  • 연속 기체흐름계에서 감지막으로 $Na_2CO_3$$MCO_3$ ($M=Cs_2,K_2,Li_2,Ca$)를 입힌 $Na^+$ 이온 전해질 센서가 $CO_2$ 가스를 감지할 때 anode반응을 도출하였다. 흔히 사용되는 전기화학 센서에 대해 일반적으로 알려진 전체 전극반응인 $MCO_3=MO+CO_2$ 반응은 위의 $Na^+$이온 전해질 센서에는 적합한 반응이 아니었다. 따라서 anode 반응은 전체cell 내의 ionic balance를 유지하기 위해 전해질과 감지막 계면에 이온교환반응을 첨가시킴으로써 도출할 수 있었으며 anode반응은 $Na_2CO_3$ 및 감지막의 금속($M^{++}$) 이온이 포함된 산화물이 참가하는 반응임을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같이 도출된 전극반응으로부터 구한 EMF와 일시 기체흐름계에서의 출력 EMF와의 차이를 아울러 검토하였다. 이러한 출력에서의 차이는 $CO_2$$O_2$의 분압과 분위기가스와 전극물질과의 비가역반응에 기인됨을 알았다.

  • In this study, the experimental investigation and theoretical analysis were conducted to verify the cooling capacity of the cryocooler used for pre-cooling of hydrogen gas. The effect of the flow rate on a copper pipe attached to the bottom of the cryocooler, which has a coil shape in a hydrogen line, was investigated. Temperature sensors were strategically placed at various positions on the cryocooler to analyze the temperature variations with respect to the flow rate. In this study, the thermal properties of hydrogen for the pressure and temperature were utilized using REFPROP to analyze the cooling capacity of the cryocooler. Based on the experimental results derived from this study, the cooling capacity of the cryocooler for pre-cooling hydrogen gas was considered by calculating the cooling temperature according to the flow rate through theoretical analysis.

산화주석 기반의 아세토니트릴 검지용 박막형 가스센서 (Thin Film Gas Sensors Based on Tin Oxide for Acetonitrile)

  • Thin film gas sensor based on tin oxide was fabricated and its characteristics were examined. Target gas is acetonitrile ($CH_{3}CN$) that is simulant gas of blood agent gas. Sensing materials are $SnO_{2}$, $SnO_{2}$/Pt, and (Sn/Pt)oxidation with thickness from $1000{\AA}$ to $3000{\AA}$. Sensor was consisted of sensing electrode with interdigit (IDT) type in front side and a heater in back side. Its dimension was $7{\times}10{\times}0.6mm^{3}$. Fabricated sensor was measured as flow type and monitored real time using PC. The optimal sensing material for $CH_{3}CN$ was {Sn($3000{\AA}$)/Pt($30{\AA}$)}oxidation and its sensitivity and operating temperature were 30%, $300^{\circ}C$ in $CH_{3}CN$ 3 ppm.

a-SiNx:H 박막의 제조 및 특성 (Fabrication and Characteristics of a-SiNx:H Thin Films)

  • $SiH_{4}$$NH_{3}$의 RF 글로우방전 분해에 의한 PECVD법으로 a-SiNx:H박막을 제조하고 기판온도, RF 전력, 그리고 $NH_{3}/SiH_{4}$ 유량비 등의 변화에 따른 a-SiNx:H 박막의 유전상수와 광학적 밴드갭 등을 조사하였다. a-SiNx:H막의 유전상수와 광학적 밴드갭은 기판온도, RF 전력 및 $NH_{3}/SiH_{4}$ 유량비 등의 증착변수에 따라 크게 변화하였다. 기판온도가 증가할수록 a-SiNx:H막의 유전상수는 증가하였으며 광학적 밴드갭은 감소하였다. 기판온도, RF 전력, 가스압력, $NH_{3}/SiH_{4}$ 유량비 및 두께를 각각 $250^{\circ}C$, 20 W, 500 mTorr, 10 및 $1500\;{\AA}$로 하였을 때 a-SiNx:H막의 유전상수, 절연파괴전장 및 광학적 밴드갭은 각각 4.3, 1 MV/cm 및 2.9 eV로 나타났다.

피스톤 푸루버 개발 및 불확도 평가 (Development and Uncertainty Evaluation of Piston Prover)

  • The piston prover was developed and the flow measurement uncertainty of this piston prover was evaluated according to ISO/IEC 17025. The laser interferometer, instead of the optical sensors used in the typical provers, was employed in this prover to measure accurately the testing time and the moved distance of the piston. Uncertainty was calculated with evaluation of various uncertainty factors affecting flow measurement. The expanded uncertainty (U) of the piston prover was $1.3{\times}10^{-3}$ (at the confidence level of $95\%$). This evaluation example will be useful in the flow measurement uncertainty determination of other gas flow measurement system.
