  • Heat transfer and pressure distribution for heat exchanger type of domestic gas boiler are different from shape, pitch, thickness of fin and array of pipe respectively. In order to measure the pressure distribution across the heat exchanger, a suction type wind tunnel was constructed and velocity distribution was measured for pilot tube(4 point) of rack type. The experiments were performed for 5 different air flow mass, rpm=3,6,9,12,15 and transverse axis of heat exchanger(x-length) is 5cm respectively. Results showed that above 9.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for wet type of heat exchanger is on the increase and above 5.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for dry type of heat exchanger is on the increase. Also, pressure distribution dispersion by comparing two different types heat exchanger, dry type of heat exchanger showed a higher augmentation than wet type of heat exchanger.

  • Heat and $SF_6$ gas dispersions over a complex terrain were investigated using wind tunnel. The wind speed, temperature and concentration profiles were measured for the 1/1000 scale complicated terrain model in an Eiffel type boundary layer wind tunnel with test section of 2.5m in height and 4.5m in width. The scale model was mounted on the top of a plate which can rotate with respect to the approaching wind. Dispersion processes from a continuous emission source driven by various wind direction were investigated, including plume climbing over the steep up-slope of the mountain and down-spreading toward the lower level of the valley. Extensive dispersion experiment data (wind speeds and concentration profiles) were provided for verification and validation of dispersion models. Under the identical flow and emission conditions, the independently measured profiles of the temperature and $SF_6$ concentration showed an excellent agreement which ensured the credibility of the results.

  • According to the requirement of Res.MSC.285(86) for natural gas-fueled engine installations in ships, pump and compressor rooms should be fitted with effective mechanical ventilation system of the under pressure type, providing a ventilation capacity of at least 30 air changes per hour. It generally considered that gas leakage is more likely from a Fueled Gas Supply System(FGS) room as compared to other places, where installed in many kind of machinery or equipments like gas supply high-pressure pipes, valves, flanges and etc. Furthermore, leaked gas may be dispersed in a short time in an enclosed space, especially a FGS room, due to high pressure. However, the present requirement in Res.MSC.285(86) just considers the ventilating capacity of air changes per hour but the capacity of leaked gas. Hence, the current requirements may not meet effectively when enforcing the new propulsion systems as marine fuel. This study is conducted for the purpose of safety evaluation about the dispersion and ventilation efficiency with estimated leakage scenario. Numerical analysis predictions as the result of this paper are explained to know the features of flow pattern and the diffusion of natural gas concentration.

  • We present the spatially resolved kinematics of ionized gas and stars along the major axis of 9 pseudo bulge galaxies. Using the high quality long-slit spectra obtained with the FOCAS at the Subaru telescope, we measured the flux, velocity, and velocity dispersion of the [OIII] and $H{\beta}$ lines to determine the size of the narrow-line region, rotation curve, and the radial profile of velocity dispersions. We compare ionized gas kinematics and stellar kinematics to investigate whether ionized gas shows any signs of outflows and whether stars and ionized gas show the same sigma-dip feature (i.e., decrease of velocity dispersion) at the very center.

  • Two phase flows have been numerically calculated to analyze plume characteristics and liquid circulation in gas injection through a porous plug. The Eulerian approach has been for formulation of both the continuous and dispersed phases. The turbulence in the liquid phase has been modeled using the standard $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. The interphase friction coefficient has been calculated using correlations available in the literature. The turbulent dispersion of the phase has been modeled by the "dispersion Prand시 number". The predicted mean flows is compared well with the experimental data. The plume region area and the axial velocities are increased with the gas flow rate and with the decrease in the inlet area. The turbulent intensity also shows the same trend. Also, the space-averaged turbulent kinetic energy for various gas flow rates and inlet areas has been obtained. The results are of interest in the design and operation of a wide variety of materials and chemical processing operations.

  • Characteristics of two-phase flow and heat transfer were numerically investigated in a submerged gas injection system when temperature of the injected gas was different from that of the liquid. The Eulerian approach was used for both the continuous and dispersed phases. The turbulence in the liquid phase was modeled using the standard $k-\varepsilon$$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. The interphase friction and heat transfer coefficient were calculated from the correlations available in the literature. The turbulent dispersion of the phases was modeled by a "dispersion Prandtl number". In the case with heat transfer where the temperature of the injected gas is higher than the mean liquid temperature, the axial and the radial velocities are lower in comparison with the case of homogeneous temperatures. The results in the present research are of interest in the design and operation of a wide variety of material and chemical processes.

  • Energetic ionized gas outflows driven by active galactic nuclei (AGN) have been studied as a key phenomenon related to AGN feedback. To probe the kinematics of the gas in the narrow line region, [O III] ${\lambda}5007$ has been utilized in a number of studies, showing non-virial kinematic properties due to AGN outflows. We statistically investigate whether the $H{\alpha}$ emission line is influenced by AGN driven outflows, by measuring the kinematic properties based on the $H{\alpha}$ line profile, and by comparing them with those of [O III]. Using the spatially integrated spectra of ~37,000 Type 2 AGNs at z < 0.3 selected from the SDSS DR7, we find a non-linear correlation between $H{\alpha}$ velocity dispersion and stellar velocity dispersion, which reveals the presence of the non-gravitational component, especially for AGNs with a wing component in $H{\alpha}$. The large $H{\alpha}$ velocity dispersion and velocity shift of luminous AGNs are clear evidence of AGN outflow impacts on $H{\alpha}$ emitting gas, while relatively smaller kinematic properties compared to those of [O III] imply that the observed outflow effect on the $H{\alpha}$ line is weaker than the case of [O III].
