  • Electrical resistivity in hydrate-bearing sediments is sensitive to porosity, gas hydrate saturation, gas content, pore fluid composition, and temperature, so electrical measurements such as well logs and electromagnetic surveys have been used to explore gas hydrate-bearing formation. The high pressure tomography cell is designed considering the effect of electrode configuration and electrical shielding on tomography measurements and the safety. The evolution of electrical conductivity during $CO_2$ hydrate formation and dissociation reflects the combined effects of concurrent changes that include ionization of dissolved $CO_2$, temperature-dependent ionic mobility, changes in the degree of saturation, ion exclusion, surface conduction, and porosity changes. Measurements during hydrate formation and dissociation require careful analysis to properly interpret signatures, in particular when out-of plane conductivity anomalies prevail.

  • Using the multi-dimensional, multi-phase, nonisothermal Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) model presented in Part I, the effects of land/channel flow-field on temperature and liquid saturation distributions inside PEFCs are investigated in Part II. The focus is placed on exploring the coupled water transport and heat transfer phenomena within the nonisothermal and two-phase zone existing in the diffusion media (DM) of PEFCs. Numerical simulations are performed varying the land and channel widths and simulation results reveal that the water profile and temperature rise inside PEFCs are considerably altered by changing the land and channel widths, which indicates that oxygen supply and heat removal from the channel to the land regions and liquid water removal from the land toward the gas channels are key factors in determining the water and temperature distributions inside PEFCs. In addition, the adverse liquid saturation gradient along the thru-plane direction is predicted near the land regions by the numerical model, which is due to the vapor-phase diffusion driven by the temperature gradient in the nonisothermal two-phase DM where water evaporates at the hotter catalyst layer, diffuses as a vapor form and then condenses on the cooler land region. Therefore, the vapor phase diffusion exacerbates DM flooding near the land region, while it alleviates DM flooding near the gas channel.

동해 울릉분지의 가스 하이드레이트 산출형태와 퇴적물 특성의 관계 (Relationships between Gas Hydrate Occurrence Types and Sediment Characteristics in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea)

  • 2010년 2차 울릉분지 가스 하이드레이트 시추 (UBGH2)를 통하여 총 10개 정점에서 가스 하이드레이트 함유 퇴적물 코아를 채취하였다. 이 연구에서는 열화상 분석과 입도분석 결과에 따라 퇴적물 입도분포, 온도 이상(${\Delta}T$), 가스 하이드레이트 포화도, 가스 하이드레이트 산출형태간의 상관관계를 연구하였다. 가스 하이드레이트는 유형 I(니질층의 단열을 충진하는 형태), 유형 II(니질층의 산재하는 형태), 그리고 유형 III(사질층의 공극을 충진하는 형태)로 분류하였다. 입도분석 결과, 유형 I과 II는 가스 하이드레이트 함유 및 미함유 구간 모두 입도가 유사한 니질층으로 이루어진 반면, 유형 III는 입도가 뚜렷이 구별되는 사질층과 니질층으로 이루어져 있다. 유형 III에서는 모래 함량이 증가할 수록 가스 하이드레이트 포화도가 증가함을 확인하였다. 열화상에서 분석된 ${\Delta}T$는 가스 하이드레이트 산출형태와 상관없이 가스 하이드레이트 포화도와 비례하는 경향을 보인다. 시추지점의 암상과 탄성파 단면의 특징에서 보면, 탄성파 단면에서 침니 구조가 나타나는 지점은 유형 I이, 사질층이 거의 없는 분지사면에서는 유형 II가, 저탁류 사질층이 자주 협재하는 지점에서는 유형 III가 우세하게 나타난다. 이와 같은 특징으로 보아 가스 하이드레이트 산출형태는 가스 하이드레이트 함유 지층의 지질학적 특징과 관련 있으며, 특히 퇴적물의 입도분포에 큰 영향을 받음을 보여준다.

한국 해군의 해난구조작전을 위한 이동식 포화잠수체계 도입 및 활용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Introduction and Application Plan of the Mobile Saturation Diving System for ROK Navy Salvage Operations)

  • 본 연구는 한국 해군의 해난구조능력 향상을 위해 임무수행의 주요 수단이 되는 잠수체계를 개선하는 방안에 대한 연구이다. 특히 구조작전시 잠수체계별 임무 가능구역이 제한되는 문제를 해결하기 위하여 이동식 포화잠수 체계를 중심으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구는 먼저 임무의 범위를 확인하였고, 기존 연구결과와 현용 잠수체계를 분석한 결과를 활용하여 이동식 포화잠수체계의 요구조건과 표준구성을 정리 및 제안하였으며, 이동식 포화잠수체계를 활용한 기존 잠수체계의 보완 및 개선 가능성에 대하여 군의 전략 선택 기법인 적 가 용 판단에 따라 검토하였다. 또한, 도입방안에 대해서는 상용제품의 해외수입과 국내 개발로 구분하여 장 단점을 분석하고, 설치 및 운용방안에 대해서는 각 플랫폼별로 실효성을 분석하였다. 연구결과로 먼저, 200 m 이상에서 6명 이상의 잠수사가 약 17일 이상 포화잠수를 정상적으로 실시할 수 있도록 요구조건 및 표준구성안을 제안하였으며, 기존 잠수체계의 보완 및 개선 가능성에 대해서는 예비장비 공급 및 병행사용 등 다양한 보완이 기대되나 혼합기체잠수체계를 포화잠수체계로 개선하는 것은 경제성이 떨어졌다. 설치방안은 ATS-II 후속사업에서 이동식 포화잠수체계를 탑재가 가능하도록 제작하는 것을 제안하였으며 운용은 평시 교육 훈련 및 ARS 대체전력으로 사용하다 전시에 별도의 플랫폼에 탑재하여 추가적인 구조전력으로 활용해야 한다.

서울시(市) 대기오염(大氣汚染)이 시민보건(市民保健)에 미치는 영향(影響)에 관(關)한 조사연구(調査硏究) (Epidemiological Study of Air Pollution and Its Effects on Health of Urban Population)

  • The urban population of our country is rapidly increasing due to many factors of social structure, and sociologists are predicting that the increase rate of the urban population will be over 50% in 1980's. Above all, the population of the capital city of Seoul, is at present more than four millions. Such centring of people in cities, together with the improvement of the standards of living, caused rapid increase in the amount of fuel consumption, and this consumption of fuels became one of the primary sources of the air pollution in cities. Moreover, the heavy traffic, construction of many tall buildings, and the increasing number of new factories due to the industrial development-all these are contributing to make the matter of air pollution worse and worse in the Metropolitan, whose geographical location is quite unfavorable considered from the view point of air pollution. Most homes in Seoul use briquet as fuel, while oils are used in tall buildings. The CO, $SO_2$, and smoke that come from burning of these fuels are a great threat to the health of the urban population. With the purpose of examining the influence of air pollution upon the public health, written inquiries were made upon respiratory diseases, and the carboxyhemoglobin saturation in the blood was measured to determine whether the air pollution may affect the health of the urban population. Method of Health Examination (1) Investigation of Respiratory Diseases Patients' records were examined to figure out the monthly ambulance rate of respiratory patients to the total number of patients treated. On the other hand, by using the questionnaire form approved by the Medical Research Council's Committee on Research into Chronic Bronchitis, investigators interviewed the examinees and inquired into the respiratory symptoms. (2) Measuring of Carboxyhemoglobin Saturation From the ear lobe of the examinees, with the use of the melangeur for the white blood cell counting, blood was taken, and after diluting it ten times with 0.1% $Na{2}CO_{3}$, again diulting it 20 times with 0.5% $Na_{2}\;CO_{3}$, its absorbancy was measured. The following results are obtained from the investigation. (1) It was found out that 7.7% of the total patients under treatment were suffering from upper respiratory infection, acute or chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pulmonary emphysema and bronchiectasis. Of them all, patients with upper respiratory infection numbered the greatest with 4.8% and patients with acute or chronic bronchitis the next with 2.1%, and their monthly ambulance rate was high from December to February during the winter, and from April to May and from September to October during the changeable seasons. (2) The daily ambulance rate of respiratory patients, it was revealed, had a close connection with the concentration of $SO_2$ and CO in the air. (3) It was found out that men were more subject to respiratory disease than women, and both men and women were more liable to the diseases with the advancing of age. (4) People living at Choong-ku with the heavy traffic and in the industrial zones of Yeungdungpo had high frequency of respiratory symptoms. (5) Considered from the view point of occupations, high frequency was found among those without job, with jobs unknown, merchants and intdustrial workers, whose social status was rather low and traffic policemen who were always exposed to the exhaust gas of cars. As for women, the frequency was detected in the order of those from high to low, housewives who were exposed to briquet gas, women with jobs unknown, women without jobs, whose social status was low. (6) Ex-smokers rather than smokers, of both sexes, had higher frequency. As for men, heavy smokers had high frequency, while in women light smokers had rather high frequency which was presumed to be due to their average old age. (7) Men's average of carboxyhemoglobin saturation was 9.48%, while women's was 11.3%, higher than men's. (p<0.05). Age meant no difference in the case of men, but as for women, the saturation was remarkably high between the ages from 20 to 60. (8) No regional difference was detected in the carboxyhemoglobin saturation. (9) The carboxyhemoglobin saturation was found, in the case of men, in the order of office workers, traffic policemen, students, the unemployed, merchants and industrial workers, drivers; and as for women, the order was housewives, office workers, merchants and industrial workers. (10) No significant correlation was found between the carboxyhemoglobin saturation and the concentration of CO detected in kitchens, or between the carhoxyhemoglobin saturation and the passing of time after exposure to briquet gas. No difference of carboxyhemoglobin saturation was detected between smokers and non-smokers, and the degrees of smoking; only, significant negative correlation was found between the passing of time after smoking and the carboxyhemoglobin saturation. It is ture that air pollution causes or aggravates the respiratory diseases, increases the carboxyhemoglobin saturation in the blood, but what seems to be more hazardous to the health is the air polluted by the briquet gas in the kitchens and on-dol rooms rather than the atmospheric air pollution.

산업체 열병합발전 시스템의 최적설계

  • The concept of available evergy has been adopted in terms of effectiveness for and evaporator of vapor power cycle. This kind of practice is emphasezed in a case of heat and power cogeneration in order to find optimum condition for the energy utilzation of the exhaust gas. It has beed shown that the optimum condition can be given in terms of the saturation pressure or the saturation temperature of the working fluid. Similar method has been applide to show that the effectiveness is increased asymptotically with the number of evaporator stanges.

  • 본 논문은 인공폐의 설계및 임상진단을 위한 허파기능의 연구 및 호흡생리의 요체인 폐모세 혈관내 혈액의 Hb와 가스상 산소의 비선형 결합특성을 규명할 수 있는 새로운 산소포화 모델을 전기적 등가회로에 기초하여 유도하였다. 새로이 유도된 산소포화 모텔은 종래의 모델에 비해 훨씬 간단하고, 광범위한 pH 및 각 생리 parameter 등의 변동에도 정확히 적용될 수 있었을 뿐 아니라, 결합반응과 등가인 2단 및 4단 RC 전기적 등가회로의 Simulation 결과로 부터, Hb 와 산소의 비선형 결합특성은 2단계의 복합 반응으로 취급하는 것이 타당함을 확인하였다.

하이드레이트 함유 퇴적물의 역학적 성질 및 지구물리 특성 (Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Hydrate-bearing Sediments)

  • Using an oedometer cell instrumented to measure the evolution of electromagnetic properties, small strain stiffness, and temperature, we conducted consolidation tests on four types of sediments. The tested specimens include sediments with different gas hydrate saturation at four stages of loading. The test results show that the electromagnetic and mechanical properties of hydrate-bearing marine sediments are governed by the vertical effective stress, stress history, porosity, hydrate saturation, fabric, ionic concentration of the pore fluid, and temperature. The results also show that permittivity and electrical conductivity data can be combined to estimate hydrate volume fraction in laboratory sediments, methodology that might eventually be extended for estimation of hydrate concentrations in field settings.

단상 혐기성 소화공정에서의 동력학적 연구 (A Study on Kinetics in One-Phase Anaerobic Digestion)

  • Kinetic data for the acid phase anaerobic digestion were presented in this study and the constants were determined with acid production rate and gas production rate. Process models based on continuous culture theory were used to describe the characteristics of the acid forming microorganisms and to enable further development toward utilization of the process in a more rational manner. Acid phase digestion can be separated with appropriate manipulation of hydraulic retention time in anaerobic digestion. Kinetic analysis of data from the various hydraulic retention times using a phase specific model obtained form the acid phase indicated maximum specific growth rate of 0.40/h, saturation constant of 2,000mgCOD.$\ell$, yield coefficient of 0.35 mgVSS/msCOD utilized and decay constant of 0.04/h for the acid production rate. Similar analysis of data for the gas production rate indicated maximum specific growth rate of 0.003/h, saturation constant of 2,200mgCOD/$\ell$, yield coefficient of 0.035 mgVSS/mgCOD utilized and decay constant of 0.06/h.
