  • The objective of this study is to analyze, design and evaluate a new gas cleanup or sampling system that will remove erosive, corrosive, and fouling contaminants present in an effluent stream as either solid or liquid particles providing a clean gas stream. The gas clean-up or sampling system considered in this study is an irrigated, rotating element device. The device consists of a central disk-like hub from which emanate radially wires or cylindrical elements. (omitted)

On the Sampling and Transport of Radioactive Aerosols from Waste Thermal Process

  • The errors associated with incorrect sampling and transport of radioactive aerosol from radwaste thermal process off-gas are analyzed and the conditions of representative sampling and correct transport of radioactive aerosol for off-gas system evaluation are discussed. An estimation method of sampling errors for individual radionuclides is proposed and applied to simulated vitrification melter aerosols. Prediction methods for particle deposition in sample transport tube under laminar as well as turbulent flow conditions are also described by example calculations with simulated incinerator off-gas From the results of example calculations and plots, instrumental and operational conditions of radioactive aerosol sampling system with minimized errors and correction methods for nonideal sampling and transport are recommended.

  • 본 연구에서는 Gas Chromatograph를 사용하여 1,500㏄급 국산 소형 승용차 엔 진의 배기가스 성분을 분석하였다. 그리고 이를 통하여 배개가스 성분 분석에 Gas Chromatograph를 사용할 경우 아래와 같은 점에 유의한다면 배기가스 성분을 비교적 정확하게 측정할 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • Ethylene gas classified as one of five major plant hormones plays an important role in various plant metabolism. The precise analysis of ethylene production of plants or plant parts is a valuable research procedure because knowledge of ethylene production facilitates measures of the physiological activity within the tissue. This paper describes procedures for analyzing ethylene from plant tissues by gas chromatography and discusses problems associated with extracting gas samples either by introducing a vacuum to plant samples or by using a hypodermic syringe. Introduced are a continuous flow system for efficient analysis and an automated system for sampling, analyzing, calculating and recording ethylene production data.

여과지를 이용한 유기탄소의 측정 오차 보정 (Filter-based Correction for Positive Sampling Artifacts in the Determination of Ambient Organic Carbon)

  • This study describes the impact of positive sampling artifact caused by a filter-based sampling in the determination of ambient organic carbon (OC). Three different sampling media combinations were employed for this investigation: (1) Quartz filter-alone (Q-alone), (2) quartz filter behind quartz-fiber filter (QBQ), and (3) quartz filter and quartz filter behind Teflon filter (Q-QBT). The measurement of ambient OC was carried out at a semi-urban site near oceanside at the end of November of 2008. It was found that Q-alone sampling configuration resulted in a higher OC than QBQ and Q-QBT by 14% and 28%, respectively due to no correction for positive artifact caused by adsorption of gas-phase OC onto the filter. A lower quantity of OC was collected from the backup quartz filter on QBQ than that from Q-QBT. A possible explanation is that the front quartz filter of QBQ was not fully saturated with gas-phase OC during the sampling period, allowing smaller amount of gas-phase OC to reach the backup quartz filter. The contribution of positive artifact to $PM_{2.5}$ mass was approximately 2.15 ${\mu}g/m^3$ which is equivalent to 6% in terms of Q-QBT sampling configuration. The positive artifact was found to be more dominated during summer than during winter, showing temperature dependence. It was concluded that Q-QBT sampling configuration offers less impact of positive artifact on ambient OC sampling than QBQ in quantification of OC.

하나로 기체시료채취계통에서 생성된 응축수 억제를 위한 CFD 해석 (CFD Analysis to Suppress Condensate Water Generated in Gas Sampling System of HANARO)

  • HANARO (High-flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor)는 우라늄의 핵분열 연쇄반응에서 생성된 중성자를 이용하여 다양한 연구개발을 수행하는 열출력 30 MW 규모의 연구용 원자로이다. 탈기탱크는 HANARO의 부속시설에 설치되어 있다. 탈기탱크는 내부환경요인으로 인해 기체오염물질을 발생시킨다. 탈기탱크는 기체오염물질을 허용 가능한 수준 이하로 유지하기위해 필요하며 기체시료채취판넬의 분석기에 의해 모니터링 된다. 응축수가 발생하여 기체시료채취판넬의 분석기 내부로 유입된다면, 분석기의 측정 챔버 내부에 부식이 발생하여 고장을 야기한다. 응축수의 생성 원인은 탈기탱크에 존재하는 기체가 분석기로 유입되는 과정에서 탈기탱크와 분석기사이 온도 차이다. 응축수 생성을 억제하고 계통 내부에 생성된 응축수를 효율적으로 제거하기 위해 탈기탱크와 기체시료채취판넬 사이에 히팅시스템이 설치되었다. 이 연구에서 우리는 히팅시스템의 효율성을 알고자 한다. 또한 Wall Condensation Model을 이용하여 유체 입구온도, 외부온도 및 히팅 케이블 설정온도 변화에 따른 파이프 온도와 평균응축량의 변화를 모델링하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a portable electronic nose system to measure volatile components of agricultural and food products. Also, a graphical operating software to control the electronic nose system and to acquire signals through the Internet was developed. An array of five commercial metal oxide gas sensors was used to detect various volatile gas components of target samples. Transient and steady state signals were analyzed to extract variables related to sample states, To find optimal operating conditions of the system, several experiments were performed with different gas chambers, vacuum pumps, gas sampling temperatures, and sample container sizes. The patterns of gas sensor signals were analysed to find effects of the various conditions.

방사성의약품 합성에서 발생하는 방사성기체의 효율적 차단 (An Effective Block of Radioactive Gases for the Storage During the Synthesis of Radiopharmaceutical)

  • 방사성의약품 제조 시 휘발성 기체의 경우에 완전 차폐가 되지 않고, Hot cell 외부로 그리고 배기덕트를 통해 작업자에게 외부피폭은 물론 호흡을 통해 내부피폭을 가져오게 한다. 처음에는 Hot cell 자체의 배출구를 막아서 방사성기체를 차단하려하였으나 장치에 맞는 기체 밀폐형 댐퍼의 제작이 어렵고, 크기가 맞지 않아서 설치 후에 여전히 문제점이 개선되지 않았다. 그러나 Tedlar gas sampling bag의 사용으로 합성 장치의 가스 배출구를 연결하여 방사성 기체를 저장하고 10반감기가 지난 후에 배출함으로써 작업자의 피폭을 확연히 줄이게 되었으며 $^{18}F$ 방사성 기체는 Hot cell 배출구에 활성탄 필터를 연결하고 최종 배출구에 2차 활성탄 필터를 사용함으로써 배출되는 방사능 농도를 90% 이상 줄여주었다. 단 반감기의 핵종인 경우는 위와 같은 경우를 이용하여 다음날 작업을 할 수 있지만 반감기가 긴 핵종들 같은 경우는 다음날 처리 할 수 없는 문제점들이 발생한다. Decay tank의 추가적인 문제점들을 보완하거나 기체상의 여러 방사성 입자들을 포집 할 수 있는 물질들이 만들어져야 할 것이다. 현재 우리나라는 최종 배출 공기 중 방사능 농도만을 규제하고 있으나 유럽 같은 경우 일일 배출 양과 연간 배출도 규제를 하고 있다. 방사성의약품 합성 시 발생하는 많은 방사성 물질들을 보다 효과적으로 친환경적으로 처리할 수 있는 여러 연구들이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

국가 온실가스 인벤토리 축산부문 작성을 위한 온실가스 배출계수 개발 현황에 관한 연구 (A Research on the Status of Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors from Livestock Sector to Create a National Greenhouse Gas Inventories)

  • In this study, researches on the development of country specific greenhouse gas measurement and sampling methods from the livestock sector were reviewed. Research on greenhouse gas emission factors was started in early 2000 but was not actively involved in the development of livestock sector based emission factor: since 2009, works are underway for the development of livestock sector based emission factor. Most of the research on greenhouse gas emission in the field of animal studies were done by National Institute of Animal Science, because of the uniqueness of the research laboratories. Methods of emission measurement are still not internationally certified and therefore, measurement and sampling methods for Korea livestock sector are being studied, consulting the worldwide research trends. Flux chamber method are commonly using in Korea for green house gas emission factors measurement. In recent years, continuous measurement of the microclimate was introduced to measure greenhouse gases from livestock manure storage facilities and the micrometeorology method should be adapted as recommended by Intergovernmental Penal on Climate Change (IPCC) Guideline.
