안정 Townsend 방전에 대한 혼입가스의 영향 (Influence of intermixed gas on stable townsend discharge)

  • The Townsend discharge domain is generally observed with stable positive characteristics in N$_{2}$ gas discharge at low pressures differently in the others, which transfer immediately to glow dischage after self-sustaining discharge starts. In this paper, the presence of the stable Townsend discharge, applied voltage-discharge current characteristics and the effect of disgased electrode surface on stable townsend discharge are studied experimentaly in N$_{2}$ gas mixed with 0.05% of No in volume. As the result of this experiment, the stable Townssend discharge is observed only in pure nitrogen with the valve of pd.geq.8[torr.cm] (p=gas pressure, d=gap spacing), but not in gas mixtures. This is considered that No gas in gas mixtures disexcites effectively the metestble state of nitrogen.

  • Recently, it has been found that trifluoroiodomethane ( $CF_3I$) gas can replace $SF_6$ gas as a prospective substitute gas. For quantitative understanding of gas discharge phenomena, we should know electron collision cross sections and electron transport coefficients. Using electron collision cross sections of $CF_3I$ and Xe, we calculated elecron drift velocity, longitudinal coefficient, effective ionization coefficient in $CF_3I$-Xe mixtures using a two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation. We also compared the electron transport coefficients in pure gas and those of 10%, 20%, 50%, and 70% $CF_3I$-Xe mixture gases. The present data may be showed appropriate ratios of $CF_3I$-Xe mixture gas for replacing the $SF_6$ gas.

  • This paper provides a novel scheme to enhance luminous efficiency within Plasma Display Panels (PDPs). The He-Xe or Ne-Xe mixtures are mainly used in conventional PDP cells, where their discharge characteristics exemplify different behavior. Significantly, the excitation efficiency in He-Xe is lower than that of the Ne-Xe mixture. This paper demonstrates that by adding a small quantity of Ar or Kr gas in Ne-Xe mixture increases cell efficiency, while for the He-Xe mixtures their cell efficiency is reduced.

  • $SF_6$ is the most commonly used insulating gas in electrical systems. But In these days $SF_6$ mixtures and alternative gas has been studied because of global warming. so although many studies have been carried out about binary gas mixtures with $SF_6$, few studies were presented about breakdown characteristics of $SF_6/CF_4$ mixtures. At present study the breakdown characteristics of $SF_6/CF_4$ mixtures in quasi-uniform field was performed. This experiments were carried out under AC voltages. The rod-rod electrode was used with 5 mm gap distance. The mixture of $SF_6/CF_4$ containing 20%,50%,70% of $SF_6$ were compared with pure $SF_6$ and $CF_4$ gas and gas pressure ranged from 0.1 to 0.5 MPa. The show that the breakdown voltages of gas were linearly increased according to the pressure in quasi-uniform field. For breakdown vlotage values of $(E/P)_{crit}$ are important. Because If values of (E/P) is a little more than $(E/P)_{crit}$, electrons rapidly increase and streamer discharge gernerates. Through this experiments values of $(E/P)_{crit}$ are found to vary with the ratio of $SF_6/CF_4$ mixture according to the following relationship. $V_b=(E/P)_{crit}{\cdot}p{\cdot}d$

  • New gas mixtures are now finding applications such as interrupting media for high-voltage circuit breakers. These mixtures consist of a high content of carbon tetrafluoride($CF_4$) added to sulfur hexafluoride($SF_6$). Nowdays $SF_6$ has been established for the use in gas insulated substations due to its high insulation withstand level and good arc quenching capability. At this paper Breakdown characteristics were investigated for $SF_6/CF_4$ mixtures when AC voltage and standard lightning impulse voltage(LI) was applied in a needle-plane electrodes. And partial discharge(PD) experiments were carried out in the test chamber which was made in needle-plane electrode. And ${\Phi}$-Q-N distribution of partial discharge signals was analyzed. The total pressure of the $SF_6/CF_4$ mixtures was varied within the range of 0.1-0.5 Mpa in the test chamber. The breakdown voltage in needle-plane electrode displayed N shape characteristics for increasing the content of $SF_6$ at positive impulse voltage and the PD inception voltage was increased slightly when pressure of $SF_6/CF_4$ Mixtures was increased. Maximum PD inception voltage is showed in 80% SF6/20%$CF_4$.

이산화탄소-수증기 혼합가스에 대한 파장별 회색가스가중합법에서 회색가스재조합에 대한 연구 (Study on Regrouping of Gray Gases in spectral WSGGM for Arbitrary Mixtures of CO2 and H2O Gases)

  • The WSGG-based narrow band model was employed to solve the radiative transfer equations along isothermal and non-isothermal paths through $CO_2-H_2O-N_2$ gas mixtures at 1 atm. When the WSGGM is applied for arbitrary gas mixtures by considering the multiplication property of transmissivity in overlapping bands, the number of gray gases is significantly increased. To reduce the computation time, three different regrouping methods for the gray gases are tested in obtaining the mean absorption coefficient for each gray gas group. Among them, the regrouping method by minimizing the regrouping error shows the best results. For the isothermal media, 10 gray gases show fairly good agreement with the results by statistical narrow band(SNB) model which are regarded as reference solutions. For non-isothermal media, 20 gray gases show good agreement with reference solutions.

  • Burned gas of methane-air mixtures with water vapor have been analysed to study the exhaust emission using gas-chromatography and computation. The computations were carried out for the gas analysis using premix code of Chemkin program to compare the experimental results. The quantity of water vapor contained were changed 5% and 10% of total mixtures, and equivalence ratio of mixtures between 0.6 and 1.2 were tested under the ambient temperature 323K and 373K. The results showed CO, $CO_2$ decreased and $H_2$ increased by increasing the water contents. The CO increased and $CO_2$ decreased by increasing the ambient temperature. The $CO_2$ shows the maximum product at equivalence ratio 1.0, in otherwise the $CH_4$ produced the minimum values in the same range. The results showed little difference between these two methods.

  • AC spark discharge voltage of SF6/CO2and SF6/N2 containing various mixed rate in volume percent (1, 5 and 10%) of SF6 in non-uniform fields are investigated. The needle to plane electrode gap spacing was 5 and 10 mm, and the gas pressure was varied within the range of 0.1~0.7 MPa. We have observed a N-characteristic typical for the electronegative gases even in gas mixtures of 1% SF6 with CO2 and N2 as buffer gases. Especially, the materials of the needle electrode affect the insulation properties of the gas mixtures drastically. On the contrary to the case of needle electrodes made by mild steel or high carbon steel, the N-characteristics are hardly perceived in the case of stainless steel needle in this experiment.

질소와 노벡 혼합가스를 이용한 청정소화약제의 소화성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Ability Using Nitrogen and Novec Mixtures Gas)

  • In the course of increasing in human and material damage caused by fire, it is an important research field to develop clean extinguishing agent which does no harm to global environment as well as has a good extinguishing efficiency. This research is a basic step to develop a new clean extinguishing agent. In order to get a satisfactory result, we tested fire extinguishing ability using nitrogen and Novec mixtures gas which are inert gas and new clean extinguishing agent. We used Cup Burner Test made by international standard ISO-14520 regulations of gaseous extinguishing agent ability test, and the fuels used in the test are n-heptane, methanol, ethanol, iso-propanol and 1-butanol. The experimental results of flame extinguishing concentration are n-heptane 6.54%, methanol 8.47%, ethanol 6.98%, isopropanol 6.10% and butanol 6.54% by pure Novec agent. So the finding is that a new clean agent, Novec has an efficient extinguishing ability in a state of gas. Also, in a test as to mixtures gas of nitrogen and Novec, it has a good result for minimum oxygen concentration is under 16%.

SF6-Ar 혼합기체의 전자분포함수와 이동속도 (Distribution Function and Drift Velocities in Mixtures of SF6 and Ar)

  • Distribution Function and Drift velocities for electrons in $SF_6$-Ar mixtures gases used by MCS-BEq algorithm has been analysed over the E/N range 30~300[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and by a Monte Carlo simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] $SF_6$-Ar mixtures were measured by time-of-flight method. The results obtained in this work will provide valuable information on the fundamental behaviors of electrons in weakly ionized gases and the role of electron attachment in the choice of better gases and unitary gas dielectrics or electro negative components in dielectric gas mixtures. The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values.
