Renewable energy sources based on solar radiation, wind energy, geothermal energy, and biomass energy have now reached the level of industrial application. A new way to generate electricity using low-potential heat is to install a hydro-steam turbine. In hydro-steam turbines, hot water is supplied directly to turbine rotor nozzles without prior separation into steam and water in separators, which significantly increases the efficiency of hot water energy use. Such turbines are suggested to be used as autonomous energy sources in geothermal heating systems, heating water boilers and cooling systems of chemical reactors, metallurgical furnaces, etc. The authors conclude that the installation of hydro-steam turbines in heating plants and process boiler plants can also be effective if the used exhaust steam-water mixture at the turbine outlet is used to heat the network water or as return water.
Our overdependence on the limited supply of fossil fuel with the burden of emission as a consequence of its utilization has been a major concern. Biodiesel is emerging as a potential diesel substitution for its similar performance, with the additional benefits of emitting lesser emissions. Due to the easy availability of feedstock for Biogas production, Biogas is studied for its use in CI engines. In this study, we considered Linseed Biodiesel and Biogas to run on dual fuel mode in a CI engine. An energy and exergy analysis was conducted to study the rate of fuel energy and exergy transformation to various other processes. Exergy relocation to exhaust gases was observed to be an average of 5% more for dual fuel mode than the diesel mode, whereas exergy relocation to the diesel mode was observed to be more than the dual fuel modes. Also, exergy loss to exhaust gas is observed to be more than the exergy transferred to cooling water or shaft. The exergy efficiency observed for biodiesel-biogas mode is only lesser by 3% compared to diesel-biogas mode, suggesting Biodiesel can be a substitute fuel for diesel.

Various recrystallization techniques has been applied to control morphology and size of NTO(3-nitro-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-one) crystals. With cooling method, it was found that the size of NTO at aqueous solution was controlled in the range of 5 to 500 $\mu\textrm{m}$. The spherical or cubic shapes of particles were obtained by adjusting operating conditions. Hexagonal and cubic shaped crystals of NTO were also obtained by sonication and evaporative method using aqueous solution of NTO. Their particle sizes were ranged 20 to 30 $\mu\textrm{m}$. In gas anti-solvent method with NTO/DMF and NTO/DMSO solutions, cubic type of NTO was obtained and the range of their sizes was 0.5-2$\mu\textrm{m}$.

Recently, it is certain that the increase of heating and cooling energy consumption by radical change in climate condition has caused serious problems related to environmental and energy concerns associated with increase of fossil fuel usage and carbon dioxide production as well as global warming. Therefore, various actions to reduce greenhouse gas and energy consumption have been prepared by world developed countries. The energy consumption by buildings approximately reaches 25% of total korea energy consumption. The greatest part in the buildings of the energy consumption is building facade. But a few research projects on concrete comprising more than 70% of outsider of buildings has been tried. This research is structural insulation concrete what improved insulation performance using micro form admixture and calcined diatomite powder and lightweight aggregate.
Spiral arms greatly affect gas flows and star formation in disk galaxies. We use local 3D simulations of vertically-stratified, self-gravitating, gaseous disks under a stellar spiral potential to study the effects of spiral arms on galactic star formation as well as formation of gaseous spurs/feathers. We adopt the TIGRESS framework to handle radiative heating and cooling, star formation, and ensuing supernova (SN) feedback. We find that more than 90% of star formation takes place inside spiral arms. The global star formation rate (SFR) in models with spiral arms is enhanced by less than a factor of 2 compared to the no-arm counterpart. This supports the picture that spiral arms do not trigger star formation but rather redistribute star-forming regions. Correlated SN feedback produces interarm feathers in both magnetized and unmagnetized models. These feathers live short, have parallel magnetic fields along their length, and are bounded by SN feedback in the lateral direction, in contrast to instability-induced feathers formed in our previous isothermal simulations.
An experimental study on the Joule-Thomson cryocooler with the mixed refrigerant (MR) is described in this paper, J-T refrigeration experiment was performed with a single stage regular air-conditioning compressor The mixed refrigerant in the experiment was composed of 75% mol fraction of $N_2$. 30% moi fraction of CH$_4$. 30% moi fraction of $C_2$H$_{6}$. 10% mot fraction of $C_3$H$_{8}$ and 15% mot fraction of iso-C$_4$H$_{10}$. Oil mist in the MR stream could be eliminated completely by the glass microfiber filter. Since a single stage compressor that had been designed thor R22 is not appropriate for high Pressure ratio of the mixed refrigerant especially during the transient period. two modifications were incorporated to regular J-T refrigeration cycle. First. a Portion of the MR was by-passed at the inlet of the heat exchanger and transferred directly to 7he suction of the compressor in the modified system. Second, a buffer volume was Prepared to change the mass flow rate of refrigerant. The pressure ratio in J-T expansion device was relieved at the beginning of the operation due to the by-Pass scheme. but it gradually decreased during the transient Process as some of the MR component condensed at low temperature. The buffer volume at the suction side was used to increase the MR gas density in the system after the transient cool-down period. Form the experiment with the modified system, the refrigerator could reach the lowest temperature of -152$^{\circ}C$ without cooling load. and about -15$0^{\circ}C$ with 5 W of cooling load . . . .

Temporal behavior of the laser induced incandescence (LII) signal is often used for soot particle sizing, which is possible because the cooling behavior of a laser heated particle is dependent on the particle size. In present study, LII signals of soot particles are modeled using two non-linear coupled differential equations deduced from the energy- and mass-balance of the process. The objective of this study is to obtain an appropriate calibration curve for determining primary particle size by comparing the gated signal ratio and double-exponential curve fitting methods. Not only the effects of laser fluence and gas temperature on the cooling behavior but also heat transfer mechanisms of heated soot particle have been investigated. The second-order exponential curve fitting showed better agreements with the LII signals than the gated signal ratio method which was based on the lust-order exponential curve fit. And the temporal decay rate of the LII signal and primary particle size showed nearly linear relationship, which was little dependent on the laser fluence. And it also could be reconfirmed that vaporization was dominant process of heat loss during first loons after laser pulse, then heat conduction played most important role while thermal radiation had little influence all the time.

The aim of the present study was to predict the variations in microstructure and deformation occurring during gas carburizing and quenching processes of a SCM420H planetary gear in a real production environment using the finite element method (FEM). The motivation for the present study came from the fact that previous FEM simulations have a limitation of the application to the real heat treatment process because they were performed with material properties provided by commercial programs and heat transfer coefficients (HTC) measured from laboratory conditions. Therefore, for the present simulation, many experimentally measured material properties were employed; phase transformation kinetics, thermal expansion coefficients, heat capacity, heat conductivity and HTC. Particularly, the HTCs were obtained by converting the cooling curves measured with a STS304 gear without phase transformations using an oil bath with an agitator in a real heat treatment factory. The FEM simulation was successfully conducted using the aforementioned material properties and HTC, and then the predicted results were well verified with experimental data, such as the cooling rate, microstructure, hardness profile and distortion.
Electromagnetic continuous casting (EMCC) was used to fabricate Ti-6Al-4V alloys with properties suitable for medical applications. Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingots fabricated by EMCC were subjected to heat treatment, such as residual stress removing (RRS), furnace cooling after solution treatment (ST-FC) and water-cooling after solution treatment (ST-WC), in order to obtain characteristics suitable for the standard. After component analysis, the microstructure and mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation) were evaluated by ICP, gas analysis, OM, SEM, a Rockwell hardness tester and universal testing machine. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingot fabricated by EMCC was fabricated without segregation, and the lamellar structure was observed in the RRS and ST-FC specimens. The ST-WC specimen showed only martensite structure. As a result of evaluating the mechanical properties based on the microstructure results, we found that the water-cooled heat treatment condition after the solution treatment was most suitable for the Ti-6Al-4V ELI standard.
The vacuum characteristics of the KSTAR ICRF antenna were experimentally investigated. The fabricated antenna was installed in the RF Test Chamber(RFTC) which has a vacuum system with an effective pumping speed of 1015 l/s. The time variations of RFTC pressure, total gas load and ultimate pressure were measured before the RF test. RF conditioning effect was studied by repeating RF pulses at low power level. A time variation of the RFTC pressure was measured during a RF power was applied to the antenna. Threshold pressure at which a RF breakdown occurs was investigated. Whenever the pressure was higher than $10^{-4}$ mbar, the RF breakdown occurred. During a long pulse testing, the temperature of the antenna and RFTC pressure were measured to investigate long pulse limitation of the maximum available voltage without any cooling, which were compared with testing results with a water cooling of the antenna.
