The turbulent shear flaw around a surface-mounted vertical wall was investigated using the two-frame PIV(CACTUS 3.1) system. From this study, it is revealed that at least 500 instantaneous velocity field data are required for ensemble average to get reliable turbulence statistics, but only 200 field data are sufficient for the time-averaged mean velocity information The flow has an unsteady recirculation region post vertical wall with bottom gap, followed by a slow relaxation to the fiat-plate boundary layer flow. The time-averaged reattachment length estimated from the streamline distribution is about x/H=3H. The large eddy structure in the separated shear layer seems to have signification influence on the development of the separated shear layer and the reattachment process.

To develop an ash separator for the solid fuel chemical looping combustion system, effects of operating variables such as solid injection nozzle velocity, diameter of solid injection nozzle, gap between solid injection line and vent line, vent line inside diameter, and solid intake height on solid separation rate and solid separation efficiency were measured and discussed using heavy and coarse particle and light and fine particles mixture as bed material in an acrylic fluidized bed apparatus. The solid separation rate increased as the solid injection nozzle velocity and the diameter of solid injection nozzle increased. However, the solid separation rate decreased as the gap between solid injection line and vent line, the vent line inside diameter, and the solid intake height increased. The solid separation efficiency was in inverse proportion to the solid separation rate. In this study, we could get high solid separation rate up to 2.39 kg/hr with 91.6% of solid separation efficiency.

There are cofferdam and watertight wall to prevent of circulation or pollution during building of ocean structures like a dam and bridge in the harbors area and the sea. Inflow fluid and base of structure is important thing as one of the structural design factors for this interception wall like a cofferdam and watertight wall. In this study, it is revealed that at least 500 instantaneous velocity field data are required for ensemble average to get reliable turbulence statistics. The turbulent shear flow around a surface-mounted vertical wall was investigated by using the two-frame PIV(CACTUS 3.1) system and Mean velocity distributions have also been measured in the whole flow field.

Femto-second laser ablation with the various feed velocities of the Invar alloy and the micro surface milling for the processing condition were studied. We used a regenerative amplified Ti:sapphire laser with a 1kHz repetition rate, 184fs pulse duration time and 785nm wavelength. Femto-second laser pulse was irradiated on the Invar alloy with the air blowing at the condition of various laser peak powers and feed velocities. An ablation characteristic according to feed velocity of the Invar alloy was appeared as the non-linear type at different zone of energy fluence. The micro surface milling of the Invar alloy using a mapping method was investigated. The optimal condition of micro surface milling was laser peak power of 22.8mW, feed velocity of 1 mm/s, beam gap of $1{\mu}m$. With the optimal processing condition, the fine rectangular shape without burr and thermal damage was achieved. Using the femto-second laser system, it demonstrates excellent tool for micro surface milling of the Invar alloy without heat effects and poor edge.

In this paper, we report a method of improving the productivity of lead wire fabricated through the rolling process by increasing its linear velocity. The most important point to consider when raising the linear velocity is that the original specifications must still be adhered to. In other words, the dimensional tolerance must be satisfied when increasing the linear velocity of the wire without causing cracks. However, if the linear velocity of the wire is increased, the degree of reduction must also be increased, which causes more damage to the wire and increases the load on its surface. Therefore, we studied a three step rolling process which can satisfy the specifications of the wire produced through the two step rolling process and improve the productivity. In this study, only the roll gap of the three-stage rolling roller is assumed to be a variable, while the other conditions are the same as the field conditions. In addition, through the PIANO (Process Integration, Design and Optimization) tool, the (optimum?) surface roughness and maximum stress are maintained.
Rotary disc ultrafiltration module(RDM) was developed for the separation of oil emulsions. This module was devised to reduce the gel polarization phenomenon by alecoupling the operation pressure and the surface velocity of solution in ultrafiltration(UF) processes. Two-shaft engaged disc type RDM having 20 rotary disc membcanes(UOP, USA) was operated under 85kPa vacuum at $25^{\circ}$C. The pressure drop due to slip flow in the two-shaft RDM was found to be proportional to $(2.5{\omega}r)^{2}$. The pure water flux of two-shaft RDM decreased by 9.95% at the angular velocity of 41.89rad/s compared to the decrease of 3.01% for one-shaft RDM at the same velocity. When the angular velocity was changed from 31.42rad/s to 2.62rad/s, the flux decline for 1% cutting oil in two-shaft RDM was 30.16% that is similar to that of one-shaft RDM. Disc gap of 3mm and 7mm did not show any significant differences in the flux for 1% cutting oil solution. A modified model for two-shaft RDM showed good agreement with the experimental results for the cutting oil solution.
In order to investigate downslope windstorm by using more detailed observation, we observed 6 cases at 3 sites - Inje, Yongpyeong, and Bukgangneung - during "3-D Meteorological Observation Project in Yeongdong region of Gangwon province, South Korea in 2020." The results from analysis of the project data were as follows. First, AWS data showed that a subsidence inversion layer appeared in 800~700 hPa on the windward side and 900~850 hPa on the leeward side. Second, before strong wind occurred, the inversion layer had descended to about 880~800 hPa. Third, with mountain wave breaking, downslope wind was intensified at the height of 2~3 km above sea level. After the downslope wind began to descend, the subsidence inversion layer developed. When the subsidence inversion layer got close to the ground, wind peak occurred. In general, UM (Unified Model) GDAPS (Global Data Assimilation Prediction System) have had negative bias in wind speed around peak area of Taebaek mountain range, and positive bias in that of East Sea coast area. The stronger wind blew, the larger the gap between observed and predicted wind speed by GDAPS became. GDAPS predicted strong p-velocity at 0600 LST 25 Apr 2020 (4th case) and weak p-velocity at 2100 LST 01 Jun 2020 (6th case) on the lee-side of Taebaek mountain range near Yangyang. As hydraulic jump theory was proved, which is known as a mechanism of downslope windstorm in Yeongdong region, it was confirmed that there is a relationship between p-velocity of lee-side and wind speed of eastern slope of Taebaek mountain range.

Environmental regulations in Korea for blasting at industrial sites have conservative standards, which often result in reduced efficiency and cost-effectiveness due to the consideration of environmental regulations and public complaints. Therefore, there is a need for blasting methods that can reduce environmental damage while improving construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness. In this study, we analyzed the effects of the PA-Deck (Paraffin Air-Deck) blasting method, which is a kind of Air Decoupled Charge method in principle utilizing a paraffin-infused paper tube as an air gap, on reducing blasting hazards and improving blasting efficiency. The analysis also evaluated the effectiveness of newly applied equipment for collecting blasting vibration data, and derived the relationship between the explosion velocity and vibration velocity of explosives, and performed frequency analysis of the vertical component. The results of the blasting vibration velocity analysis showed that the Paraffin Waxed Paper Tube-based blasting method exhibited significantly lower vibration velocities compared to conventional blasting methods, and it was judged that more uniformly small-sized fragmented rocks were generated.

It is important to analyze the dynamic behavior of counter-rotating rigid/deformable rolls in the roll-coating process, because the stability of the process is affected by the dynamic characteristics. In the present study, the effects of material property, angular velocity, and gap size on the contact pressure and contact shape of the deformable roll are numerically investigated. The behavior of two rolls with a negative gap was analyzed using the finite element method, and the material property of the deformable roll was applied with the Mooney-Rivlin coefficients of the hyper-elastic model. The contact shape is affected by the gap size, and the contact pressure mainly depends on the stiffness of the deformable roll and the gap size. To maintain a negative gap between two rolls, controls such as load and displacement controls must be used. The results indicate that displacement control can reduce the instability.

In this paper, the fluid flow behavior past a pair of rectangular cylinders placed in a two dimensional horizontal channel has been investigated using Lattice-Boltzmann Method(LBM). The LBM has built up on the D2Q9 model and the single relaxation time method called the Lattice-BGK(Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook)model. Streamlines, velocity, vorticity and pressure contours are provided to analyze the important characteristics of the flow field for a wide range of non dimensional parameters that present in our simulation. Special attention is paid to the effect of spacing(d) between two cylinders and the blockage ratio A(=h/H), where H is the channel height and h is the rectangular cylinder height. for different Reynolds numbers. The first cylinder is called upstream cylinder and the second one as downstream cylinder. The downstream fluid flow fields have been more influenced by its blockage ratios(A) and Reynolds numbers(Re) whereas the upstream flow patterns(in front of downstream cylinder) by the gap length(d) between two cylinders. Moreover, it is observed that after a certain gap, both upstream and downstream flow patterns are almost similar size and shape. The simulation result has been compared with analytical solution and it is found to be in excellent agreement.
