Usability assessment of thermoplastic Bolus for skin VMAT radiotherapy (피부 병변에 대한 VMAT 치료 시 열가소성 bolus의 유용성 평가: case review)

  • Purpose: To find out the advantages of thermoplastic bolus compared to conventional bolus, which is mainly used in clinical practice, We evaluated Two cases in terms of dose and location reproducibility to assess Usability of thermoplastic Bolus for skin VMAT radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: Two patient's treated with left breast skin lesion were simulated using thermoplastic Bolus and planned with 2arc VMAT. the prescription dose was irradiated to 95% or more of the target volume. We evaluated The reproducibility of the bolus position by measuring the length of the air gap in the CBCT (Cone Beam CT) image. to evaluate dose reproducibility, we compared The dose distribution in the plan and CBCT and measured in vivo for patient 2. Results: The difference between the air gap in patient 1's simulation CT and the mean air gap (M1) during 10 treatments in the CBCT image was -0.42±1.24mm. In patient 2, the difference between the average air gap between the skin and the bolus (M2) during 14 treatments was -1.08±1.3mm, and the air gap between the bolus (M3) was 0.49±1.16. The difference in the dose distribution between Plan CT and CBCT was -1.38% for PTV1 D95 and 0.39% for SKIN (max) in patient 1. In patient 2, PTV1 D95 showed a difference of 0.63% and SKIN (max) -0.53%. The in vivo measurement showed a difference of -1.47% from the planned dose. Conclusion: thermoplastic Bolus is simpler and takes less time to manufacture compared to those produced by 3D printer. Also compared to conventional bolus, it has high reproducibility in the set-up side and stable results in terms of dose delivery.

  • Generally U-slotted patch antenna with PEC(Perfect Electric Conductor) ground plane is used for mobile telecommunication. However the improvement of the bandwidth is required to enlarge the capability of mobile telecommunication, In this paper, U-slotted patch antenna with EBG(Electromagnetic Band-Gap) ground plane is proposed to enlarge thr bandwidth and its radiation characteristics are investigated. To conform the bandwidth improvement, two kinds of U-slotted patch antennas with EBG and PEC ground plane are designed, fabricated, and radiation characteristics are measured. It is shown that the proposed antenna is wider than U-slotted patch antenna with PEC ground plane in bandwidth.

A Solution for Timing Gap Problems on Network Intrusion Detection Systems (네트워크 침입 탐지 시스템에서의 시차 문제 해결 방안)

  • This paper proposes a method to reduce the timing gap which causes a type of attack to a network-based intrusion detection system. For this, an intrusion defection system is used in order to measure the round trip tin to the destination system, and the measured round trip time is used for estimation of packet's real arrival time to destination. Socket programings are used on the LAN environments to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The test results show that an estimation method which uses the latest round trip time has the best performance, and the timing gap can be significantly reduced with small overheads.

  • A defect detection test was performed for a conductor using a amorphous wire sensor head. A uniform magnetic field was applied in the space between the most inner conductors of a spiral-typed coil. The conductor with a defect was placed on the space between the most inner conductors of spiral-typed coil. The defect can be detected from the differences of induced voltage measured in the vicinity of gap of the conductor. The induced voltage difference of 2.5mV was measured in the gap vicinity of the 1mm thick conductor having 0.5mm gap in the frequency region of 100kHz~600kHz.

Separation Characteristics of Oxygen Isotopes with Hydrophobic PTFE Membranes (소수성 PTFE 막의 산소동위원소 분리특성)

  • We measured the permeation characteristics of water with the hydrophobic PTFE membranes dependent on water temperature to confirm the separation of oxygen isotopes using Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD) and Vacuum Enhanced Membrane Distillation (VEMD). Isotopic concentrations of $H_2^{16}O$ and $H_2^{18}O$ of the permeated water vapor were measured by Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy. Concentrations of the heavy oxygen isotopes in the permeated water vapor were decreased. Isotope separation coefficients for the hydrophobic PTFE membranes were 1.004∼1.01 depending on the experimental conditions. We observed the effects of air in membrane pores on the oxygen isotope separation. Isotope separation coefficients for the hydrophobic PTFE membranes without air in pores are higher than those for the membrane with air in pores.

Measurement of the Gap and Grain Boundary Inventories of Cs, Sr in and I in Domestic Used PWR Fuels (국내 PWR 사용후핵연료에서 세슘, 스트론튬과 요오드의 갭 및 입계 재고량 측정)

  • Inventories of soluble elements in the gap and grain boundaries of domestic used PWR fuel pellets were measured to estimate the quantities of radionuclides that are liable to be rapidly released into the groundwater of a disposal site. The gap inventory of cesium for the pellets in the used fuel with a burn-up range of 45 to 66 GWD/MTU showed 0.85 to 1.7% of its total inventory, which was close to 1/6 to 1/3 of the fission gas release fraction (FGRF). However, the amounts of cesium released from the gaps of the pellets below 40 GWD/MTU of a burn-up and less than 1% FGRF were so erratic that the gap inventory could not be defined by ie FGRF. Strontium inventories in the gap and grain boundaries of the pellets in the same rod were not significantly varied, and the iodine inventory in the gap of the used PWR fuels was estimated to be less than or the same as the FGRF.

  • This paper investigates service quality in the automobile service industry. The model used to study service quality in the domestic automobile industry is "SERVQUAL", introduced by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry. Using this model, we survey consumer′s expected and perceived service qualities. The gap between these qualities is analyzed in five quality dimensions. We test whether these gap scores are different depending on the service providing company.

  • Surface acoustic wave (SAW) device is widely used as a bandpass filter, a chemical or physical sensor, and an actuator. In this paper, we propose the capacitive gap measurement system with high precision through the signal processing using SAW device. The research process is mainly composed of theoretical part and experimental part. In theoretical part, equivalent circuit model was used to simulate the SAW response by the change of capacitance. In experimental part, commercialized capacitor was used to see the SAW response by the change of load capacitance. After that, gap adjustment system was made physically and the SAW response by the change of gap which caused the capacitance change was measured. And resolution and stroke was decided comparing the signal change and basic measurement noise level.

  • A technical performance of the coating depends greatly on the thickness of painting film or coating film. Therefore the confirmed report of the technique to measure accurately is essential to the coating film thickness for the assessment about a coating quality performance. In this paper, two gap sensors - eddy current gap sensor and capacitance gap sensor - which has a different operating principle were used to measure the thickness of a nonmagnetic substance coating film such as paint, enamel or ceramic that was coated on the metallic material. A capacitance gap sensor was used to measure the distance between the sensor head and a coating film and an eddy current gap sensor to measure the distance between the sensor head and a base metal. Then the thickness of a coating film was obtained by the difference of two measurement value. At this result, the suggested dual sensor can measure an arbitrary film thickness to be coated on a base metal as the measurement value of coating thickness exists accurately within the 2% error.

  • Electrostatic comb-drive microactuators with sub-micron gap were fabricated and tested. We designed and fabricated two type of electrodes which are rectangular and triangular tip. The fabricated microactuators with triangular tip resulted in the electrode gaps in the range of 0.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$~1.35 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ Displacement of 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and electrostatic force of 2.3 $\mu$N were observed in a triangular-tip microactuator with 0.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ gap when a DC drive voltage of 13 volts was applied. Measured 1st resonance frequency of microactuators was about 23 kHz.
