This study is to examine how middle and high school students vary in terms of good and bad usage of online games and how these factors have varying effects on their use of the internet as a whole. My focus is to study their behavioral patterns individually while playing internet-based online games. The results are as follows: First, 260 out of 390 subjects used the internet. Male students who are high school students with siblings, or preschool time game users were revealed to play online games more often rather than female students who are middle school students with no siblings, or non-preschool time game users. Secondly, the analysis of differences of good and bad usage of online games revealed that there is a significant correlation between gender and beginning age. Lastly, a thorough analysis of the average difference in terms of following the online game shutdown found that there is no significant correlation among the sub-groups. However, an analysis of the difference of the problematic game usage has shown that there is a significant difference in the heavy user group. This findings means that the students who don't follow the online game shutdown spend more time than those who do.

Augmented reality game has differences with traditional games in the way what it includes physical risks happened in the real world. Although accidents related to Pokemon Go are increasing, academic discussions on the issues are rare. Thus, this study explores risk types caused by the augmented reality game and examined how perception of the risks affect usage intention on the game. This study also provides the research implications through comparative analysis between youth group who generally has the tendency toward game addiction and older group. According to the results, teenagers had less usage intention when perceived financial risk increase. In case of over twenty, time risk had negative relationship with usage intention. Physical risk had no significant effect on usage intention for teenagers, but positive relationship was observed in case over twenty. These results imply the necessity of an appropriate regulation for safe game play.
Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the computer game usage of elementary school children and their needs for education on the prevention of computer game addiction. Methods: The subjects of this study were 455 elementary school children. The data were collected from an open and structured questionnaire on the subjects' computer game usage and their needs for education on the prevention of computer game addiction. Results: The boys played computer games more than the girls. There were statistical differences in the durations of the computer game use, the main locations of the computer games they played, the times of the day when they used computers, the times of the day when they played computer games, the number of times in a week they visited Internet cafes, what motivated them to play computer games, and their partners in playing computer games according to gender. From an analysis of 714 statements of the subjects with respect to their need to be educated on computer game addiction prevention, six domains and 19 themes were drawn. The six main domains identified were Definition & Status, Etiology & Process, Influences, Prevention, Diagnosis & Coping with Computer Game Addiction, and General Information on Computer Games. This study results revealed that elementary school children have to be comprehensively educated on how to prevent computer game addiction. Conclusion: A computer game addiction prevention program concerning these themes and domains must be developed. A study should also be conducted to identify the educational needs of parents of elementary school children on computer game addiction prevention.

Mobile games have become one of the most important driving forces of the game industry. We focus on the continuous intention to use Chinese mobile games from the perspective of experiential marketing and network externalities. We integrate user experience, network externalities and flow theory into expectation confirmation model and explore the influencing factors of continuous usage intention of Chinese mobile game and propose a research model. Game experience, service experience, perceived enjoyment, social interaction, challenge, perceived number of users and perceived number of peers were employed as independent variables, while flow, perceived value and satisfaction as mediating variables and continuous intention as the dependent variable. After surveying 426 samples, the model is tested with structural equation model. The results reveal that perceived enjoyment significantly positively influences perceived value, flow, satisfaction, and continuous intention. The greater the enjoyment of the game, the greater the satisfaction of the game and the greater the willingness to use it continuously. Game experience has a significant direct effect on continuous intention, which indicates that a better game experience can retain more users. Service experience and perceive number of peers positively influence satisfaction. Another finding is that social interaction and perceived number of users positively influence perceived value and flow, which indicate that social attributes are critical roles for retaining users. Game challenge also positively influences flow. The proper level of challenge is more likely to cause users to enter the state of flow. Flow indirectly influences continuous usage intention through the satisfaction of the game, which indicates that satisfaction is driven by flow experience and further retaining users. Empirical results implied that mobile game companies need to focus on improving user experience, expectation satisfaction and extending network externalities to improve the continuous intention of using mobile game.
By integrating of intrinsic motivation theory and flow theory, this study sought to investigate the causal linkage among optimal balance of video game player's perceived skill and challenge, flow experience, intrinsic motivation and video game genre usage. A path analysis showed that the different types of video game usage were directly influenced by players' intrinsic motivations, which were also reinforced by players' flow experiences of enjoyment. However, the path model with a multiple group approach provided no strong evidence for gender differences in the relationships between the variables of interest.

Mobile games have emerged as the most innovative entertainment technology, adding new revenue streams, taking advantage of the potential of wireless applications and service offerings. Mobile games, like any other types of computer game, offer a unique value for users in providing an exciting digital experience in virtual worlds. Players can become empowered through the development of new characters and strategies within games to achieve rewarding successes against the computers and other players. The overall trend for mobile games is towards bigger, more colorful, more involving and exciting contents, which will build upon the developing capabilities of mobile phones and networks in order to bring new styles, concepts and experiences of game play to the users. In this paper, we attempt to investigate the demographic factors which play critical roles in determining the level of playing times; classify mobile gamers based on their motives for playing games; and empirically test differences in their demographic factors and mobile game usage. Statistical results show that significant differences in playing times exist, depending upon their age, gender, mobile device, mobile phone usage, mobile game experiences, and preferred games genres. Applying Factor analysis, we have identified Escape, Social interaction, Challenge and Competition, Fantasy, Diversion and Relaxation, Ease of Accessibility as key motivators for playing mobile games. Additional cluster analysis shows that the categorization of gamers, according to their usage habits and the key motivators for playing, can be made as follows: M-gamers, Multi-gamers and Communication-focused gamers. Further correlation of these grouping with socio-economic data shows the significant differences in gaming habits and patterns of mobile phone use.
The market size of online games has been rapidly growing as well as the behaviors of online gaming users have been changed. Online games are different from the traditional video games, because they permit players to interact each other during playing games. Today online gaming is a part of everyday life and social interaction has an impact on online gaming behaviors. Social interaction does not only have a positive impact on online game behaviors, but it also has a negative impact on them such as excessive online game usage. Previous research has a limitation to consider social interaction as a comprehensive concept. In order to fill the gap, we explore the factors of social interaction influencing on excessive online game usage. After reviewing previous literature, this study chooses three factors of social interaction such as escaping loneliness, expanding online social bridging capital, and reinforcing offline social bonding capital. The findings show that all of three factors of social interaction positively affect the excessive online game usage.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the time spent on violent internet games and game overindulgence on aggressive behavior exhibited by elementary school-aged boys and to investigate the mediating effects of self-control on the relationship between children's game overindulgence and their aggressive behavior. The subjects of this study were 118 fourth to sixth grade boys from five elementary schools. The instruments used were the aggression subscale of the Korean-Youth Self Report (Oh, Ha, Lee, & Hong, 2001), a questionnaire of the time spent playing violent internet games developed by the authors, the Internet Game Addiction Scale for Children (Kim, Lee, Kim, Kim, & Kim, 2006) and the Self-Control Scale (Nam, 1999). The data were analyzed by means of a Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results were as follows. First, children's self-control mediated the relationship between game overindulgence and aggressive behavior. Second, the amount of time spent playing violent internet games had no effect on children's aggressive behavior.
Interest in Augmented Reality (AR) game $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ GO is getting heightened. However, based on its characteristic, various direct and indirect problems are highlighted, thus increasing concerns. Although the game is not formally released domestically, there are limits in national game classification to apply on such outdoor Augmented Reality game. This paper will examine the problematic cases regarding Pokemon GO and analyze internal and external game classification system to discuss safe gaming measures for domestic users. In result of examining cases, need for adding 'physical danger' in current game classification system for user's safety was shown. As the government's game regulation is being eased, appearance of a variety of games using Augmented Reality technology in near future is predicable. Therefore it is important to prepare improvement of game classification system as a pre-safety measure, and it is expected to bring positive effect on game usage and industrial growth through safe game usage.
