  • The size of the global game market, including Korea, is gradually expanding, there are about 80,000 people in the game industry in Korea, and it has maintained a steady increase. As the domestic game has become more influential, games have become a means of helping people to communicate with each other in everyday life. Despite these changes, There is a lack of positive perspectives such as game use and interpersonal interactivity or communication enhancement. Therefore, this study analyzed the correlation of psychological and environmental factors of adolescents, game leadership, and social capital in order to understand the positive effects of games. As a result of research, psychological factors such as social motivation, game efficacy, and game norms have a statistically significant effect on game leadership. Parental supervision has a negative effect on game leadership and a statistically influenced positive effect on social capital. Overprotective parenting has a negative effect on both game leadership and social capital. Finally, game leadership has a statistically influenced positive effect on social capital. This paper is meaningful in that the research on the positive aspect of the game was conducted for the adolescent.

The results of this research showed that among the internal variables, loneliness, self-control, and among the psychological variables, game leadership, game subjective norm, and game efficacy played a common role in game addiction in all groups. To be specific the factors determining game overflow by the level of the school were identified as discriminatory. These findings can help making policies or developing a program on adolescent's overflow.

  • Numerous studies have been made on the negative effects of online games, as the negatives effects of the usage of online games have been recognized as social issues. However, this is a study on the positive functions of online gaming; more specifically, on how the guild activities on online games affect the user's leadership. This study has conducted in-depth interviews with online games, and drew the result using Giorgi's phenomenological analysis as for the methodology. 3 people participated in the research - a high school student, a university student, and an adult office worker - all of whom with experiences of guild leading on online games. To achieve the goal of this study, this study based the subjects' experience to analyze how online game guild activities have affected leadership on the subjects' real lives. As a result, timidity turned into initiation; not only leadership, but also decision making ability and coworking ability, as well as problem solving ability have shown improvement. Through this study, one can see that among the elements of online game, experience in guild activities is providing opportunities for enhancing leadership and possibilities for improving various other abilities. I hope more researchers continue studying interesting and diverse powers of online games based on this study.

  • This study was motivated by a recent channel conflict on subsidies for mobile handset between a service provider and a handset manufacturer in the mobile communication market. In this study, we have developed a two-person non-zero sum game for the channel conflict on subsidies for mobile handset, and derived its optimal strategic game solution. As a result, we have found that, between the service operator and the handset manufacturer, one who has high level of market leadership in his own market has a power to affect the optimal strategic game solution. We have also found that, when the service operator and the handset manufacturer have relatively high level of market leadership in their own market, there exist both of potential channel conflict and cooperation. The result of this study may provide an effective reference for a solution of similar channel conflicts.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation effects of impulsiveness on the relationship between boredom proneness and game addiction. For this study, 364 middle school boys in Kyungki and Chungcheong areas were included in the analysis. The results showed that boredom proneness was positively correlated with impulsiveness and game addiction. Impulsiveness was found to fully mediate the influence of the boys' boredom proneness (independent variable) on game addiction(dependent variable). Based on these results, strategic interventions including impulsiveness control and self-leadership training were suggested to prevent game addiction.

  • Recently, discussions on Metaverse, which represents the transcendent world, have been dominant for some time. Cases related to the Metaverse are introduced through various media and are continuously attracting attention as the next generation of the Internet. This study reviews the business model and the ecosystem overview, focusing on service cases related to the Metaverse. The widely used business models include content production and sales, media brokerage fee, and marketing fee. The Metaverse ecosystem is formed around games, with major players in game production, authoring tool & support SW, intelligent cloud service, and game platform expected to lead the market. Results show that a strategy to secure the leadership of the Metaverse, such as the business model expansion conditions, a strategy to foster a game-oriented Metaverse ecosystem, and technology development for the realization of the ultra-realistic Metaverse, is necessary.

  • Tangram game consists of seven pieces of polygons such as triangle, square, and parallelogram. Typical methods of image processing for object recognition may suffer from the existence of side thickness and shadow of the puzzle pieces that are dependent on the pose of 3D-shaped puzzle pieces and the direction of light sources. In this paper, we propose an image processing method that recognizes simple convex polygon-shaped objects irrespective of thickness and pose of puzzle objects. Our key algorithm to remove the thick side of piece of puzzle objects is based on morphological operations followed by logical operations with edge image and background image. By using the proposed object recognition method, we are able to implement a stable tangram game applications designed for tablet computers with front camera. As the experimental results, recognition rate is about 86 percent and recognition time is about 1ms on average. It shows the proposed algorithm is fast and accurate to recognize tangram blocks.
