A MU-MIMO User Scheduling Mechanism based on Active CSI Exchange (능동적 CSI 교환을 기반으로 한 MU-MIMO 유저 스케줄링 기법)

  • User scheduling boosts the Multi-User Multi-Input Multi-Output (MU-MIMO) gain by selecting an optimal set of users to increase the 802.11 Wi-Fi system capacities. Many kinds of user scheduling algorithms, however, fail to realize the advantages of MU-MIMO due to formidable Channel State Information (CSI) overhead. In this paper, we propose a user scheduling method considering such CSI exchange overhead and its MAC protocol, called ACE (Active CSI Exchange based User Scheduling for MU-MIMO Transmission). Unlike most proposals, where user scheduling is performed after an Access Point (AP) receives CSI from all users, ACE determines the best user set during the CSI exchange phase. In particular, the AP broadcasts a channel hint about previously scheduled users, and the remaining users actively send CSI reports according to their Effective Channel Gains (ECGs) calculated from the hint. Through trace-driven MATLAB simulations, we prove that the proposed scheme improves the throughput gain significantly.

Gain Scheduled Fuzzy Control on Aircraft Flight Control (게인 스케줄링 퍼지제어의 비행제어에 대한 적용)

  • This paper describes an approach for synthesizing a Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) that combines the benefits of fuzzy logic control and fuzzy logic gain scheduling for the F/A-18 aircraft. Specially, fuzzy rules are utilized on-line to determine the denoralization factor(Κ) of a feedback fuzzy controller based on the dynamic pressure(Q) indicateing the region of the flight envelop the aircraft is operating in. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed FLC provides excellent compensation for time-varying and/or nonlinear characteristics of the aircraft, and that it also exhibits satisfactory robustness with noisy air data sensors.

  • In a networked control system (NCS), time delays which are larger than one sampling period can change the control period. As a result, it may cause system instability. This paper presents a control method for an NCS using the controller area network (CAN), where time delays arise in the control loop. Specifically, a simple yet efficient method is proposed to improve control performance in the presence of time delays. The proposed method, which can be regarded as a gain scheduling method, selects a suitable LQ control gain among several gains to deal with the problems due to the change of control period. It is found that the gain can be scheduled in terms of the relation between the gain and the sampling period, which is represented by first-order algebraic equations. The proposed method is evaluated with an inverted cart pendulum system where the actuator and sensors are connected through the CAN. Experiment results are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, We propose the fuzzy controller for the gain tuning of PID controller The proposed controller doesn't use the crisp output error and rule tables though with a fuzzy inference process in forward fuzzifier, New Fuzzy PID Controller assigns relations and ranges of two variables of PID gain parameters. These new gain parameters are calculated by the fuzzy inference with max-min ranges of Kp and Kd. The Ki parameter is computed automatically between Kp and Kd parameter Is calculated by Ziegler-Nickels tuning rules. Finally we experimented the propose controller by the hydraulic servo motor control system. We can obtained desired results through the good control characteristics.

Design of a Gain Scheduling Controller to Improve Pull-in Performance in Optical Disc Drive (광디스크 드라이버의 풀인(pull-in) 성능향상을 위한 이득 스케줄링 제어기의 설계)

  • This paper proposes a stable gain scheduling method of linear time invariant controllers for tracking servo system. In order to read and write the data on the optical disc, the pick-up head should be moved to the exact track quickly and follow the track immediately. Two different controllers are used for each moving and track-following. In pull-in period, a transition period from moving to track-following, the head might slip and miss the target track. This brings on another searching process and increases the total time. One way to avoid slipping is to extend the bandwidth of the track-following controller. But, extending the bandwidth could degrade the following performance. More prevalent way is to use one more controller in this pull-in period and switch to the following controller. In general, however, switching or scheduling of stable controllers cannot guarantee the stability. This paper suggests an scheduling method guaranteeing the overall stability not only in a generalized form but also in special form for SISO system. The sufficient condition is derived from the fact that Q factor of a stable controller should be stay in $RH_{\infty}$ space. In the experiment, the proposed method shows better performance than the switching method such as shorter time and lower current consumption.

  • This paper describes an approach for synthesizing a modularized gain scheduled PD type fuzzy logic controller(FLC) for a high maneuverable aircraft system, where the gains of FLC are on-line adapted according to the flight condition. Specially, the systematic procedure via root locus technique is carried out for the sellection of the gains of FLC. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed gain scheduled fuzzy logic controller yields better control performance than the normal (without gain scheduling) fuzzy controller.

Opportunistic Channel State Information Feedback for Eigen based Scheduling in Multiuser MIMO Systems (다중 사용자 다중 입출력 시스템에서 고유값 기반 스케줄링을 위한 선택적 채널 정보 피드백 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose the opportunistic channel state information feedback scheme for eigen based scheduling in multiuser MIMO systems. According to 3GPP SMC channel model, the system capacity of MU-MIMO systems is severly degraded, since the antennas are highly correlated in urban macro cell. Although the eigen based scheduling scheme mitigates the adverse effect of the antenna correlation, it achieves only small amount of the multiuser diversity gain. Since the opportunistic channel state information scheme can achieve sufficient multiuser diversity gain, the system capacity of MU-MIMO systems can be improved. The system capacity improvement is verified by the computer simulation results.

  • This paper proposes a fast H$\sub$$\infty$/ gain scheduled controller that stabilizes the uncertain nonlinear system with exogenous signals. The controller is constructed at a distinct and fixed value of exogenous signals using H$\sub$$\infty$/ syn-thesis methodology. Then the constructed controller set is switched for the wide range of variation of exogenous signals. Using the derivative gain, the number of constructed and engaged controllers for the fast varying exogenous signal is reduced.

Group Building Based Power Consumption Scheduling for the Electricity Cost Minimization with Peak Load Reduction

  • In this paper, we investigate a group building based power consumption scheduling to minimize the electricity cost. We consider the demand shift to reduce the peak load and suggest the compensation function reflecting the relationship between the change of the building demand and the occupants' comfort. Using that, the electricity cost minimization problem satisfied the convexity is formulated, and the optimal power consumption scheduling algorithm is proposed based on the iterative method. Extensive simulations show that the proposed algorithm achieves the group management gain compared to the individual building operation by increasing the degree of freedom for the operation.
