  • This paper describes attitude determination algorithm for the low earth orbit(LEO) spacecraft using stellar inertial sensors. The cascaded gyro/star tracker extended Kalman filter is constructed to fuse two sensor data. And then the smoothing of the measurement are proposed for an unreasonable jump of star tracker. The smoothing algorithm for the rejection of star tracker error jumps is designed by scalar adaptive filter. The proposed algorithms operate to process the measurement of gyro/star tracker Kalman filter, therefore, it is comparatively simple to apply these methods to other integration systems. Simulations to gyro/star tracker integrated system show that the proposed method is effective.

  • Random drift rate (i.e., random drift in angle rate) of a gyro represents the major error source of inertial navigation systems that are required to operate over long time intervals. It is uncorrectable and leads to an increase in the error with the passage of time. In this paper a technique is presented for analyzing random process from experimental data and the results are presented. The problem of estimating the a priori statistics of a random process is considered using time averages of experimental data. Time averages are calculated and used in the optimal data-processing techniques to determine the statistics of the random process. Therefore the contribution each component to the gyro drift process can be quantitatively measured by its statistics. The above techniques will be applied to actual gyro drift rate data with satisfactory results.

  • GFINS(gyro-free inertial navigation system)는 가속도 센서에서 계측된 데이터를 2차 적분하여 yaw를 계산한다.

  • This paper presents the on-board attitude determination algorithm for LEO (Low Earth Orbit) three-axis stabilized spacecraft. Two advanced star trackers and a three-axis Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) are assumed to be attitude sensors. The gyro in the IRU provides a direct measurement of the attitude rates. However, the attitude estimation error increases with time due to the gyro drift and noise. An update filter with measurements of star trackers and/or sun sensor is designed to update these gyro drift bias and to compensate the attitude error. Kalman Filter is adapted for the on-board update filter algorithm. Simulation results will be presented to investigate the attitude pointing performance.

  • The line-of-sight stabilization system is an equipment which is loaded on a vehicle and stabilizes the direction of the line-of-sight of the vision sensor to obtain a not-swayed image in the existence of external disturbances. To obtain accurate Euler angles and angular velocities simultaneously we usually need a control system which uses high-price inertial sensors including Vertical Gyro(VG) or Rate Integrating Gyro(RIG). In this paper, we design and implement a control system of a gimbal, which is a line-of-sight stabilization system using a low-cost mixed algorithm of a rate gyro and an accelerometer instead of a VG and a RIG. In the experiment where we laid the implemented line-of-sight stabilization system on the rate table. we can see the stabilized performance to external disturbances.

  • The Ring Laser Gyro makes use of the Sagnac effect within a resonant ring cavity of A He-Ne laser and has more accuracy than the other Gyros. The Low Earth Orbit satellite for observatory use require the high accuracy Gyro to control and determine the altitude because of the need of payload pointing accuracy. In this paper, The theory of the Path Length Control is explained. The electrical design of Path Length Controller is described. The Design for Path Length Controller is composed of the demodulator, Integrator, Phase shifter, High Voltage Amplifier. We apply the circuit to 28cm square ring laser gyro and get the test results.

  • To make the autonomous mobile robot move in the unknown space, we have to know the information of current location of the robot. So far, the location information that was obtained using Encoder always includes Dead Reckoning Error, which is accumulated continuously and gets bigger as the distance of movement increases. In this paper, we analyse the effect of the size of the two wheels of the mobile robot and the wheel track of them among the factors of Dead Reckoning Error. And after this, we compensate this Dead Reckoning Error by Kalman filter using Gyro Sensors. To accomplish this, we develop the controller to analyse the error components of Gyro Sensor and to minimize the error values. We employ the numerical approach to analyse the error components by linearizing them because each error component is nonlinear. And we compare the improved result through simulation.

  • A new type of interaction circuitry for a broadband gyro-TWT is presented in this paper. A method for the analysis of dispersion characteristics of a periodic structure, which is composed of conducting posts in a rectangular waveguide, is presented. This method utilizes a mode matching technique and equivalent circuit model. The calculated and measured results demonstrate that this periodic structure could be utilized for the interaction circuit of a wide band Gyro-TWT.

  • In this paper, an efficient attitude determination algorithm based on the Kalman Filter which combines earth/sun sensor data with gyro data in a mutually compensating manner is presented. Quaternion is used as the attitude state to save computation time and to prevent the gimbal-lock situation associated with Euler angles. Gyro data allows the use of the kinematic equation instead of space vehicle's dynamic equation which is usually based on approximation of the actual dynamics and inaccurate torque information. The gyro data are used to propagate the attitude through kinematic equation and the earth/sun sensor data are used to update the attitude and estimate the gyro bias. Simulation results for the KOMPSAT attitude determination system are presented.

  • The end tip position control of a flexible robot arm has been presented by utilizing the feedback signal from the rate-gyro mounted at the end tip. Kalmann filter and the state feedback gains were determined by optimal sense based upon the parameter from the geometrical and electrical data of the flexible arm system. The simulation and experiment were performed and it has been proved that implementation of the rate-gyro drastically improves the performance.
