Study on Impact of GUI Design Elements of Mobile Phone on Brand Preference With focus on senior citizens (모바일 폰의 GUI 디자인의 구성요소가 브랜드 선호도에 미치는 영향 실버세대를 중심으로)

  • This study has established the GUI design elements of mobile phones as color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video, under the purpose of exploring the relevance between such elements and brand preference among senior citizens. To accomplish the objective, a model and hypotheses were established, which were tested through a multiple regression analysis. The findings are as follows. First, when the statistical significance was examined by GUI design element of mobile phones, the following results were obtained: Color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video were statistically significant at the significance level given, indicating that such elements all affect brand preference. Second, the relative influence of GUI design elements of mobile phones on brand preference was revealed in the following order: text, color, video, graphic icon, layout. It indicates that boosting the brand preference of senior citizens for mobile phones requires considering 'text' and 'color' first before any other element. In addition, as the influence of 'text' and 'color' becomes greater, the brand preference also becomes higher.

  • It is obvious that the sales of smart phones are increasing every year whereas the growth rate is decreasing year by year from 2010 through the investigation of the current situation of the smartphone market. Therefore, the GUI design of smartphones has gradually become the major design difference and selling point. In this research background, the purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the relationship between GUI design and user experience which takes the 20 generation smartphone users in China as the research objects, so as to understand the impact of GUI design on user experience. In this paper, five visual elements of GUI design are derived from prior study, and five essential factors of user experience are educed by using online review text analysis and KJ. Finally, this thesis makes a questionnaire survey on the 20 generation smartphone users in China, and analyzes the influence of GUI design on the user experience. Meanwhile, we put forward some suggestions for improving the user experience on the basis of the survey results.

  • 본 연구는 감성공학적 접근법으로 터치 모바일 폰의 자유 드로잉 GUI 요소를 디자인 하기 위한 프로세스를 검증하는 것이 목적이다. 본 연구의 프로세스는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 첫째, 터치폰에서 자유드로잉하는 행태를 파악하기 위하여 남 녀 대학생 57 명을 대상으로 터치폰 일기를 쓰게 하여 분석하였다. 또한 관찰 대상자가 선호하는 패션, 좋아하는 이미지를 수집하여, IRI 표준 이미지 스케일 맵에 매핑하여 감성 요소를 추출하였다. 둘째, 추출된 감성 요소는 Norman(2002)에 의거한 감각적(Visceral), 행태적(Behavioral), 심볼적(Reflective) 감성 어휘로 도출하고, 요인 분석을 통해 대표 감성 어휘를 도출하였다. 셋째, 자유 드로잉을 위한 터치 모바일폰 GUI 요소를 도출한 후 대표 감성 어휘와의 관계성을 분석하여 관계성이 높은 디자인 요소를 추출하였다. 마지막으로 추출된 대표 디자인 요소와 대표 감성 어휘는 다차원척도(Multidimensional scaling : MDS) 분석을 실시하여 2 차원 축에 모델링하고, 정량적으로 디자인에 반영될 주요 감성을 도출해본 결과 사용자의 감성적 경험을 통해 도출된 GUI 와 유사성이 높은 감성 어휘는 감성적 디자인을 할 때 주 요소로 적용 된다는 사실을 확인하였다.

  • 21st Century is getting into Super aging society worldwide basis. Among those population, silver(aged) generation users' physical condition, such as sight, hearing and body, is getting older, especially sight ability which processes 80% of input data, it requires us studying new smartphone GUI designs convergence for the elderly. In light of this social phenomenon, this study suggests smartphone GUI designs convergence guideline for the silver generation through the research of text, icon which are basic elements of smartphone GUI with proper visual attributes. I had inferred UX designs, expert group and evaluation categories from existing papers, related books and designed some displays for the survey. I also offered this guideline with the deep survey of 101 people over 65 years old.

  • 본 연구는 주관적인 사용자의 감성을 객관적으로 정의하여 2차원 감성 모델에 의한 터치폰의 GUI 디자인 요소에 대한 디자인 가이드라인을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 단계로 연구를 진행하였다. 첫 번째 단계로 그루밍(Grooming) 사용자들의 라이프 스타일을 조사하여 Norman(2002)에 의거한 감각적, 행태적, 그리고 심볼적 세 가지 레벨의 감성요소를 추출하였다. 두 번째 단계로 Russell(1980)의 28개 감성 어휘와 세 단계 감성과의 관계성을 설문하여 감성모델을 구현하였다. 마지막으로 요인분석을 이용하여 대표 감성 어휘를 도출한 후 감성적 터치폰의 GUI(Graphic User Interaction) 디자인 요소를 제시함으로써 사용자의 감성이 반영된 인간 중심적인 제품 디자인을 위한 가이드라인을 제안한다.

A Study on GUI Design about Tablet PC: Focused on Shopping Application of China (태블릿 PC의 GUI 디자인 연구 -중국의 쇼핑 애플리케이션을 중심으로-)

  • In the context of the number of Tablet PC users which increases rapidly, online shopping application has also been a corresponding rapid development. However, as a practical matter, the differences among the consumers' ability will affect the purchase of application for the realization of user needs. Therefore, shopping application in the GUI design to improve consumers use needs to be improved to meet the demands of different users. In view of this problem, this paper has carried on the related research on the GUI design of Tablet PC application, and fully considers the visualization image elements of information transmission, then analyzed the top five shopping application in Chinese market via three visual elements - icon, label and color. In addition, it conducted a questionnaire which based on the object of Tablet PC shopping application Chinese users. Consequently, what obtained is, based on the survey findings, the GUI design proposal which reasonable reflects the shopping application with functionality and designability. Through the research results of this paper, we can get the conclusion that the three kinds of visual GUI elements-icon, label and color- have the influence on the user's usability. In addition, this study can be expected as a reference in the shopping software GUI design.

  • GUI 디자인 업무 환경에서 협업은 필수적인 요소이며 협업의 효율성을 높이기 위해 다양한 프로토타이핑 소프트웨어들이 출시되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 주요 프로토타이핑 소프트웨어를 GUI 디자이너의 협업 효율성 관점에서 비교 분석하고, 해당 소프트웨어를 사용하는 디자이너들을 인터뷰하여 협업 형태에 따른 한계점을 도출하고 효율적인 개선 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • 현재 리워드 앱은 스마트폰을 이용해 부가적인 혜택을 누릴 수 있는 인기 앱 서비스로 지속적인 성장과 함께 서비스의 범위가 확대되고 있어 사용성을 고려한 디자인의 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 리워드 앱 상위 4개를 사용자경험을 바탕으로 한 GUI디자인의 사용성 평가를 디자인전공자 30명의 설문으로 진행하였다. 리워드 앱 GUI구성요소에 따른 사용성 평가 결과는 5점 만점에 '캐시슬라이드' 3.97로 가장 높고, '허니스크린' 3.18, '넥슨플레이' 3.07, '라떼스크린'2.9 순으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 향 후 경쟁력있는 리워드 앱의 GUI요소 개발에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

  • Mobile GUI design is changing from an existing design that emphasizes intuitive cognitive effects to an affordance design that naturally triggers users' behaviors. However, in the GUI design, the current affordance only uses some partial design elements and cannot achieve effective design, and the concept of affordance design still has confusion and uncertainty. For this reason, this paper redefines affordance by examining the concepts and types of it in the pre-research. In addition, through questioning the type of affordance, a questionnaire was designed for the GUI elements of social software. According to the results of the survey, the evaluation of the affordance of the GUI design elements was derived, and the GUI design of the social software was compared and analyzed. Then according to the deep interviews, a GUI design proposal that can effectively use affordance was proposed.

Similarity Criteria in GUI and Icon Design - with an Emphasis on the Quantitative Evaluation using Checklists - (화상디자인의 유사성 판단기준에 대한 연구 - 체크리스트를 활용한 정량적인 평가 방법을 중심으로-)

  • This paper is focused on the similarity of GUI design and proposes checklists for evaluating similarity of GUI design in quantitative way and more important factors in this checklists. On the first, consideration of similarity and analysis of GUI properties are made, and from these results, the categories that affect the evaluation of similarity are extracted. The categories are consisted of 5 factors, which are concept, shape, color, relation, and multimedia. The checklists from above 5 categories are tested in 3-stage, and in this paper, 11 checklists from shape, color, and relation factor of the second stage are verified by online survey. The purpose of this survey is to find out the difference between user groups(designer, computer related, etc) and more important factors in the checklists that affect the total results of similarity. In the results of survey, the checklists have no relation with the user groups and among the checklists, external shape, composition element, and design methods have impact factors on the evaluation of similarity.
