In case the coefficient set of an FIR filter is represented in the canonic signed digit (CSD) format with a few nonzero digits, it is possible to implement high data rate digital filters with low hardware cost. Designing an FIR filter with CSD format coefficients, whose number of nonzero signed digits is minimal, is equivalent to finding sparse nonzero signed digits in the coefficient set of the filter which satisfies the target frequency response with minimal maximum error. In this paper, a compressive sensing based CSD coefficient FIR filter design algorithm is proposed for multiplierless and high speed implementation. Design examples show that multiplierless FIR filters can be designed using less than two additions per tap on average with approximate frequency response to the target, which are suitable for high speed filtering applications.

In this paper, we evaluate and compare performance between position-based and non-position-based routing protocols in a vehicular ad-hoc network. The protocols evaluated in this paper for many performance evaluation aspects are a position-based routing protocol, GPSR (Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing), and the non-position-based such as AODV (Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) and DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) protocols. The three protocol characteristics such as Packet Delivery Ratio, Latency of first packet per connection, and Average number of hops depending on distance are compared and evaluated. As the result of simulation, the AODV performed better than the DSR. However, due to the high mobility characteristic of a vehicular ad-hoc network, GPSR, the position-based routing performs better than the non-position-based routing protocols such as AODV and DSR in a vehicular ad-hoc network environment.
An RFID system is an important technology that could replace the traditional bar code system changing the paradigm of manufacturing, distribution, and service industry. An RFID reader can recognize several hundred tags in one second. Tag identification is done by tags' random transmission of their IDs in a frame which is assigned by the reader at each round. To minimize tag identification time, optimal frame size should be selected according to the number of tags. This paper presents new query optimization methods in RFID systems. Query optimization consists of tag number estimation problem and frame length determination problem. We propose a simple yet efficient tag estimation method and calculate optimal frame lengths that minimize overall query time. We conducted rigorous performance studies. Performance results show that the new tag number estimation technique is more accurate than previous methods. We also observe that a simple greedy method is as efficient as the optimal method in minimizing the query time.
NAND flash memory is widely used in embedded systems because of many attractive features, such as small size, light weight, low power consumption and fast access speed. However, it requires garbage collection, which includes erase operations. Erase operation is very slow. Besides, the number of the erase operations allowed to be carried out for each block is limited. The proposed garbage collection method focuses on minimizing the total number of erase operations, the deviation value of each block and the garbage collection time. NAND flash memory consists of pages of three types, such as valid pages, invalid pages and free pages. In order to achieve above goals, we use a page rate to decide when to do garbage collection and to select the target victim block. Additionally, We implement allocating method and group management method. Simulation results show that the proposed policy performs better than Greedy or CAT with the maximum rate at 82% of reduction in the deviation value of erase operation and 75% reduction in garbage collection time.

After Sewol ferry disaster occurred in April 2014, Korean government began investing to deploy LTE-based public safety network until the year of 2017. In order to reduce the operating and capital costs, resource sharing scheme among public safety network and commercial LTE networks is considered as one of the viable approaches. This thesis proposes a method of allocating bandwidth of public safety network based on various priorities required for disaster scenarios and stages in a resource sharing environment. In order to obtain the highest efficiency, we formulate the bandwidth allocation problem as a Fractional Knapsack Problem. Greedy algorithm was applied to solve the problem. For performance evaluation, we created several disaster scenarios and set suitable parameters for each scenario based on a disaster manual. The proposed method is compared with two typical methods, which are Class-based bandwidth allocation and Uniform bandwidth allocation. The results showed that the better performance in terms of the sum of the values and the amount of lost bytes.

Vessels or aircraft should be loaded with containers or cargo to maintain weight balance in order to be stable when navigating the route. The container loading algorithm is known as the NP problem and several heuristic methods have been studied. Containers can be characterized by the uniform volume and weight, which makes it easier to find an optimal loading method. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for weight balance when the volume and weight of an object are uniform. It is assumed that the loading space has a special structure of m * n mesh (where m and n are both odd). In this case, we designed a greedy algorithm and proved that the algorithm is optimal in that it can always find a loading position that maintains a weight balance regardless of the number of objects. Our algorithm can be used in many engineering problems, such as loading algorithms and load balancing problems.

We study the problem of sampling a subset of nodes of graphs for bandlimited graph signals such that the signal values on the sampled nodes provide the most information in order to reconstruct the original graph signal. Instead of directly minimizing the reconstruction error, we focus on minimizing the upper bound of the reconstruction error to reduce the complexity of the selection process. We further simplify the upper bound by applying useful approximations to propose a low-weight greedy selection process that is iteratively conducted to find a suboptimal sampling set. Through the extensive experiments for various graphs, we inspect the performance of the proposed algorithm by comparing with different sampling set selection methods and show that the proposed technique runs fast while preserving a competitive reconstruction performance, yielding a practical solution to real-time applications.
, or The Story of Jeonuchi, is a classical Korean novel written at an unknown date by an unknown writer. It has a few different editions presumably because they were printed from a variety of different woodcuts carved in a few dialects. The present study examines The Story of Jeonuchi based on one of its earliest editions collected by the Academy of Korean Studies. Focused on the novel's main ideas of educational value, the author explores effective educational means to teach these ideas to college students. The novel's main ideas with edifying qualities include: alleviating resentment of the people, punishing the greedy, promoting filial piety and loyalty to the sovereign, and antagonism between disloyal forces. And these ideas can be effectively discussed in class using brainstorming, demonstration and logical description. Changing time requires a different approach to understanding and appreciating classical novels. Based on this awareness, the study seeks to find an effective way to teach today's students about literature from a different time. It also stresses that this process involves encouraging the students to logically express their ideas in writing.

Existing image analysis systems in use in the military field are carried out by readers analyzing and identifying images themselves, writing and disseminating related content, and in this process, repetitive tasks are frequent, resulting in workload. In this paper, to solve the previous problem, we proposed an algorithm that can operate the Seq2Seq model on a word basis, which operates on a sentence basis, and applied the Attention technique to improve accuracy. In addition, by applying the Beam Search technique, we would like to recommend various current identification sentences based on the past identification contents of a specific area. It was confirmed through experiments that the Beam Search technique recommends sentences more effectively than the existing greedy Search technique, and confirmed that the accuracy of recommendation increases when the size of Beam is large.

Neural machine translation using deep neural network has emerged as a mainstream research, and an abundance of investment and studies on model structure and parallel language pair have been actively undertaken for the best performance. However, most recent neural machine translation studies pass along decoding strategy to future work, and have insufficient a variety of experiments and specific analysis on it for generating language to maximize quality in the decoding process. In machine translation, decoding strategies optimize navigation paths in the process of generating translation sentences and performance improvement is possible without model modifications or data expansion. This paper compares and analyzes the significant effects of the decoding strategy from classical greedy decoding to the latest Dynamic Beam Allocation (DBA) in neural machine translation using a sequence to sequence model.
