Implementation of Embedded Geo-coding System for Image's Geo-Location (영상의 위치 정보를 위한 임베디드 지오코딩 시스템 구현)

  • Geo-coding refers to the process of associating data with location information, and the system deals with geographic identifiers expressed as latitude and longitude or street addresses. Although many services have been launched, there still remains a problem for users to create geo-coded photo with manually labeling GPS(Global Positioning System) coordinate or synchronizing with separate devices. In this paper, we design and implement a geo-coding system which utilizes the time and location information embedded in digital photographs in order to automatically categorize a personal photo collection. An included GPS receiver labels a photograph with its corresponding GPS coordinates, and the position of the camera is automatically recorded into the photo image header at the moment of capture. The place and time where the photo was taken allows us to provide context metadata on the management and retrieval of information.

  • By this time, in order to measure baseline in a few minutes, we must have used expensive dual frequency receiver. Recently, low-priced single frequency receiver have taken place of dual frequency receiver at short base-line by advancement in software development, improvements in geodetic survey receiver system. In this study, according to the observation time and measurement interval, we analyzed differences of each components of baseline by field experiment and we propose the criterion for the minor control point surveying by single frequency GPS receiver.

  • GPS type portable-alarm-system is composed of satellite receiving equipment, signal transmission equipment, etc. Time errors occur because of the processing methods of the satellite receiving equipment and signal generator, the positional error of GPS itself, etc. With the recent rise of train speed, it becomes very important to secure the stability of portable-alarm-system from time errors, The present study estimated errors caused by the structure of portable-alarm-system, GPS errors. etc., and verified them. In addition, it examined the effects of such errors on portable-alarm-system according to train speed.

  • A BIS(Bus Information System) collects, processes and analyzes information such as real-time location and operation status during bus operation. And It is a system that provides valid information to citizens, drivers, traffic centers and bus companies. Transport information system sent by an each bus is collected through GPS(Global Positioning System), DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communications), Beacon and passed to transport information center. BIS data by collected is handled and analyzed. Next, it is transmitted to citizen, drivers and bus companies in real time. The result of 5 times simulation satisfied the test criteria(error range ${\pm}10m$) with an average error range of 3.306m, and the reliability is increased. In this paper, we propose a improved location transfer component that can provide users to quicker and more accurate location information than existing BIS using GPS of smart phone. It can be seen that reliability is improved by securing improved bus position data.

  • Objective: In this paper, work time for the representative fruit crops are collected and analyzed using time-diary method, and the collected data were compared with the directly observed work time using GPS device. Background: There is no consistent conclusion which measurement method for work time is accurate. Most of the research results were collected from the environment other than rural area. Therefore, there is need to review reliability of the measurement methods for the agricultural work which are carried out for a long duration. Method: Top five crops (apple, pear, grape, sweet persimmon, and peach) were selected according to the number of farms and cultivation areas. We let fruit growers fill a work diary during one cropping period. A difference between the work-time that was recorded by the farmers and the direct observed worktime using GPS device were analyzed. Results: Average direct work time for the five fruit crops found to be 7.1% of the total work time. Conclusions and Applications: Reliability was secured by recording the daily work diary at each work stage while aware that direct observation is carried on. Data which are being collected by government institutions are obtained by the memories of the respondents. Therefore, it is needed to try the method adopted by this study in order to collect more accurate data.

Estimation of GPS Holdover Performance with Ladder Algorithm Used for an UFIR Filter (UFIR 필터 Ladder 알고리즘 이용 GPS Holdover 성능 추정)

  • In this paper, we described the simulation results of the phase offset performance of a clock in holdover mode which was normally operated in GPS Disciplined Oscillator (GPSDO). In the TIE model, we included the time error term caused by environmental temperature variation because one of the most important parameters of clock phase error is the frequency offset and drift caused by the variation of temperature. For the simulation, we employed Maximum Time Interval Error (MTIE) for the performance evaluation when the frequency offset and drift are estimated by using an Unbiased Finite Impulse Response (UFIR) filter with ladder algorithm. We assumed that the noise in the GPS measurement is white Gaussian with zero mean and 1 ns standard deviation, and temperature linearly varies with a slope of $1{^{\circ}C}$ per hour. From the simulation results, the followings were observed. First, with the estimation error of temperature of less than 3 % and the temperature compensation period of less than 900 seconds, the requirement of CDMA2000 phase synchronization under 10 us could be achieved for more than 40,000 seconds holdover time if we employ an OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) clock. Second, in order to achieve the requirement of LTE-TDD under 1.5 us for more than 10,000 seconds holdover time, below 3 % estimation error and 500 seconds should be retained if a Rubidium clock is adopted.

  • COSMOS system which was developed in Seoul for real-time signal control was designed to judge traffic condition for practicing signal operation. However, it occurs efficiency problem that stop line detection and queue length detection could not judge overflow saturation of street. For that reason, following research process GPS data of Seoul city's corporationowned taxi to calculate travel speed that excluded existing system of stop line detection and queue length detection. Also, "Research of calculating queue length by GPS data" which was progressed with following research expressed queue length. It is based on establishing algorithm of judging congestion situation. The algorithm was applied to a few areas where appeared congestion situation consistently to confirm real time traffic condition with established network.   • In this paper, we describe an outdoor augmented reality system using GPS tracking for position and attitude information. The system consist of a remote mobile operation unit and a ground operation unit. The remote mobile operation unit includes a real-time image acquiring device, a GPS tracking device, and a wireless data transceiver; the ground operation unit includes a wireless transceiver, a virtual image generating device, and an image superimposing device. The GPS tracking device for measurement of position and attitude of the remote mobile operation unit was designed by TANS Vector and RT-20 for DGPS. The wireless data transceiver was for data transmission between the remote mobile operation unit and the ground operation unit. After the remote mobile operation unit was installed on a vehicle and a helicopter, the system was evaluated to verify its validity in actual applications. It was found that the implemented system could be used for obtaining real-time remote information such as construction simulation, tour guide, broadcasting, disaster observation, or military purpose.

  • Inertial Navigation System has been used extensively to determine the position, velocity and attitude of the body. An INS is very expensive, however, heavy, power intensive, requires long setting times and the accuracy of the system is degraded as time passed due to the accumulated error. Global Positioning System(GPS) receivers can compensate for the Inertial Navigation System with the ability to provide both absolute position and attitude. This study describes a method to improve both the accuracy of a body positioning and the precision of an attitude determination using GPS antenna array. Existing attitude determination methods using low-cost GPS receivers focused on the relative vectors between the master and the slave antennas. Then the positioning of the master antenna is determined in meter-level because the single point positioning with pseudorange measurements is used. To obtain a better positioning accuracy of the body in this research, a wireless internet is used as an alternative data link for the real-time differential corrections and dual-frequency GPS receivers which is expected to be inexpensive was used. The numerical results show that this system has the centimeter level accuracy in positioning and the degree level accuracy in attitude.

  • The navigation and EDR(Event Data Recorder) have a different roles but also a lot of similar or common functions and elements. A representative element is a GPS. The GPS of navigation is a more higher than the that of EDR in performance. The high performance GPS has a very short initialization time and more accurate than the GPS of EDR. And the informations of OBD(On Board Diagnostics) is able to be shared in navigation and EDR. But these inter-working product between the navigation and EDR has been not yet shown. So, this paper is aimed to show how to interwork in two devices. We utilize USB bulk communication in two devices for inter-working. It is very simple ways and it could interwork in GPS, event video and ODB II data. It could be effective in cost competence and convenience. These was implemented by hardware and software and proved by the standard test.
