  • This paper proposes a new indoor location recognition system using a ZigBee network and a global positioning system(GPS). The proposed location recognition system applies GPS values that are mainly used for outdoor location recognition, to indoor location recognition; hence the techniques conventionally separated for the indoor and outdoor location recognition are integrated into one location recognition technique. The proposed system recognizes a location using the distance between nodes. Although the distance between nodes can be calculated by measuring the strength of the received ZigBee signals, generally the measured distance is not accurate and has high error rates since the strength of the ZigBee signals is different depending on the distance. In order to reduce the error rate, we have subdivided the output power of the received ZigBee signals into five levels. When a moving node generates a signal, each fixed node transmits the received signal strength and its own GPS information to other nodes, so the moving node can find its own accurate location in terms of the received signals.

  • Children in schoolzone accidents occur frequently in order to actively respond to the situation on the module for automated recognition research. By the vehicle penetration such like schoolzone, child object recognition, and GPS coordination information, the monitoring scenario can be constructed, and if an event occurs corresponding to strategic scenario so that suitable reaction can be provided to increase safety level to the schoolzone. In this paper, a GPS sensor and the image sensor and the monitoring server on the network based on the integration of context-aware methods have been studied. The image sensor section and the GPS section through analysis of the situation analysis and recognition of the object based on the scenario can actively cope with the situation according to the methods proposed.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of object recognition to real image object which enter into an area. We needs this method for an application module to detect and trace the moving pattern of some objects entered into an specific area. A scheme to the object recognition is adopted to some applied modules that it is moved from only real image information recognition to real coordination recognition, the mapping between the GPS coordination and real image information provides object coordination.

  • PURPOSES: This study is to develop a road traffic sign recognition and automatic positioning for road facility management. METHODS: In this study, we installed the GPS, IMU, DMI, camera, laser sensor on the van and surveyed the car position, fore-sight image, point cloud of traffic signs. To insert automatic position of traffic sign, the automatic traffic sign recognition S/W developed and it can log the traffic sign type and approximate position, this study suggests a methodology to transform the laser point-cloud to the map coordinate system with the 3D axis rotation algorithm. RESULTS: Result show that on a clear day, traffic sign recognition ratio is 92.98%, and on cloudy day recognition ratio is 80.58%. To insert exact traffic sign position. This study examined the point difference with the road surveying results. The result RMSE is 0.227m and average is 1.51m which is the GPS positioning error. Including these error we can insert the traffic sign position within 1.51m CONCLUSIONS: As a result of this study, we can automatically survey the traffic sign type, position data of the traffic sign position error and analysis the road safety, speed limit consistency, which can be used in traffic sign DB.

  • To deal with the emergency of the solitary aged people, we have developed a collapse-sensing phone, in which a collapse sensor, a GPS receiving chipset and a CDMA sending chipset are included. The general cellular phone is somewhat expensive communication device using sound and characters, but the collapse-sensing phone is a cheaper and popular version. If the collapse sensor recognizes a certain of collapse of the aged people, CDMA sending chipset will send the location of the phone which is received from satellite by GPS receiving chipset. In this paper, a collapse recognition algorithm which is developed by using much experimental data, will be introduced to explain how to recognize the real collapse from fast sitting or immediate standing after collapse. Once a true collapse is ecognized, the phone-ID and the coordinate will be sent to the server of administrative office via CDMA network. And the position of emergency will be displayed on the GIS with the rescue center.

  • To ensure the safety of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous vehicles, it is important to recognize the vehicle position, and specifically, the increased accuracy of the lateral position of the vehicle is required. In recent years, the quality of GPS signals has improved a lot and the price has decreased significantly, but extreme urban environments such as tunnels still pose a critical challenge. In this study, we proposed stable and precise lane recognition and tracking methods to solve these two issues via fusion of AVM images and vehicle sensor data using an extended Kalman filter. In addition, the vehicle's lateral position recognition and the abnormal state of RTK GPS were determined using this approach. The proposed method was validated via actual vehicle experiments in urban areas reporting multipath and signal disconnections.

  • Recently, with the advent of smart phones, it brought many changes in lives of modern people. Especially, application utilizing the sensor information of smart phone, which provides the service adapted by user situations, has been emerged. Sensor data of smart phone can be used for recognizing the user situation, Because it is closely related to the behavior and habits of the user. currently, GPS sensor one of mobile sensor has been utilized a lot to recognize basic user activity. But, depending on the user situation, activity recognition system cannot receive GPS signal, and also not collect received data. So utilization is reduced. In this paper, for solving this problem, we suggest a method of user activity recognition that focused on the accelerometer sensor data using smart phone. Accelerometer sensor is stable to collect the data and it's sensitive to user behavior. Finally this paper suggests a noble approach to use state transition diagrams which represent the natural flow of user activity changes for enhancing the accuracy of user activity recognition.

  • Activity recognition technology is gaining attention because it can provide useful information follow user's situation. In research of activity recognition before smartphone's dissemination, we had to infer user's activity by using independent sensor. But now, with development of IT industry, we can infer user's activity by using inner sensor of smartphone. So, more animated research of activity recognition is being implemented now. By applying activity recognition system, we can develop service like recommending application according to user's preference or providing information of route. Some previous activity recognition systems have a defect using up too much energy, because they use GPS sensor. On the other hand, activity recognition system which Google released recently (Google Activity Recognition) needs only a few power because it use 'Network Provider' instead of GPS. Thus it is suitable to smartphone application system. But through a result from testing performance of Google Activity Recognition, we found that is difficult to getting user's exact activity because of unnecessary activity element and some wrong recognition. So, in this paper, we describe problems of Google Activity Recognition and propose AGAR(Advanced Google Activity Recognition) applied method to improve accuracy level because we need more exact activity recognition for new service based on activity recognition. Also to appraise value of AGAR, we compare performance of other activity recognition systems and ours and explain an applied possibility of AGAR by developing exemplary program.
