  • In this paper, two dualband internal antennas for GPS/PCS handset are proposed. At first, the monopole antenna with parasitic dipole element is designed to print PCB of handset directly. At second, the antenna with bended loop structure is designed to bend to use internal space of handset maximumly. The proposed dualband internal antennas provide a 2:1 VSWR bandwidth of over 19.1 % which are possible to cover two bands at once. the antennas have a gain between -0.4 and 3.33 ㏈i at all bands and they have almost omni-directional patterns.

  • This paper proposes a new type of a dual-band internal antenna for GPS/PCS handsets. The antenna has three monopoles in different lengths, and this structure is referred as a 3-fingers type antenna in this paper. The antenna with low-profile structure is designed to use internal space of handset maximally. The fabrication and the measurement are accomplished by attaching the 3-finger type antenna to the inside of a commercial handset. We obtain gain of 1.97 dBi$\~$0.66 dBi in the GPS band, and -0.92 dBi$\~$1.02 dBi in the PCS band and almost omni-directional patterns at all bands.

  • In this paper, a GPS antenna is designed by using metal film which can be attached on the case of battery without additional space for antenna in GPS band operation. The proposed metal film has a half-wavelength slot radiator. The slot radiator is fed by th electromagnetic field coupled from the GSM850/PCS band antenna. The proposed GPS antenna obtains about 20 MHz bandwidth(VSWR<3) which can cover entire GPS band. The antenna has an average gain of -3.8 dBi.

  • In this paper, a quad-band antenna for GSM/GPS/DCS/US-PCS handsets is proposed. The proposed antenna is low-profile for mounting in limited inner space of a handset. It consists of three open points with quarter wave length for multi-band operation. The ground plane below the patch is removed for wide-bandwidth without the variation of antenna size and the slot is added at the center of the patch for convenient matching in high frequency band. It provides a enough bandwidth within VSWR 3:1 at all bands. In addition, the measured peak gains are between -2.19 and 2.09 in anechoic chamber (10m$\times$6m$\times$4m).

  • In this paper, a multi-band folded planar monopole internal antenna for mobile handset applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has multi-resonances, which is different from a conventional folded monopole antenna, and it provides a wide bandwidth at high frequency bands. The measured impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 3) is 180 MHz and 1880 MHz in lower and higher frequency bands, respectively. The proposed antenna can effectively cover most wireless communication bands including CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, and W-CDMA, WiBro and S-DMB.

  • In this paper, GPS/PCS/Satellite DMB compact chip antenna is designed using stacked meander line for mobile communication handset. The fabricated antenna size is $12.52mm\times19.95\times1.05mm$. The coupling is adjusted by via and arrangement among meander lines to improve FR(Frequency Ratio) and return-loss. The fabricated antenna achieve triple-band. The resonance frequencies are 1.696 GHz, 1.888 GHz and 2.680 GHz. The impedance bandwidths are 150 MHz, 120 MHz and 60 MHz. The maximum gains of antenna are 0.08 dBi, 1.70 dBi and -1.27 dBi at resonance frequencies.

  • In this paper, novel internal antenna with its controllable resonant frequency is presented for triple-band or over mobile handsets. The operating range can include GSM(880${\~}$960 MHz), GPS(1,575$\pm$10 MHz), DCS(1,710${\~}$1,880 MHz), US-PCS(1,850${\~}$l,990 MHz), and W-CDMA(1,920${\~}$2,170 MHz). The proposed antenna is realized by combination of a half wavelength loaded line and a shorted monopole. A single shorting and feeding points are used and they are common to both antenna structures. By controlling a value of lumped inductance element between shorting point and ground plane, the antenna provides enough bandwidth to cover DCS, US-PCS, and W-CDMA respectively. When these higher bands are controlled by the values of inductance, resonant characteristics in GSM and GPS bands are maintained. In this work, maximum value of the inductor is limited within 3.3 nH to mitigate gain degradation from frequency tuning. As a result, measured maximum gain of antenna is -0.58${\~}$-0.30 dBi in the GSM band, -0.57${\~}$0.43 dBi in the GPS band and 0.38${\~}$1.15 dBi in the DCS/US-PCS/W-CDMA band. In higher band, the proposed antenna is certified that resonant frequency of about 240 MHz can be effectively controlled within gain variation of about 0.77 dB by simulation and measurement.
