  • This paper deal with a method for calculating the continuity of Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS), which was completed in Korea in December 2023, and a plan to respond in the event that a continuity hazard situation occurs during operation. For this purpose, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) continuity standards, Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) continuity cases are examined in this paper. According to the measures recommended by the ICAO, when the number of continuity risks exceeds a certain level and the level drops drastically, various mitigation operations by country are implemented. Through this, if KASS does not meet ICAO continuity standards in the future, such measures can be referred to. In addition, this paper computes the short-term KASS continuity during the test broadcast period. Although continuity does not meet the ICAO standards, although this test period is too short, further meaningful analysis in the future is required. Additionally, this paper carried out an analysis of the timing and period to systematically calculate the meaningful value of continuity.

  • This paper presents the static and kinematic positioning accuracy by the real-time GPS positioning modes of the low-cost GPS receivers using NTRIP-based augmentation service. For this, acquires both the raw measurements data of the field tests by LEA 6T GPS module of u-blox AG, and correction communication via NTRIP caster with RTKLIB as an open source program for GNSS solution. With computing the positions of the check points and road tracks by six kinds of GPS positioning modes which are Single, SBAS, DGPS, PPP, RTK, and TCP/IP_RTK, compared these results to the reference position of the check points. The position error average and rmse of the static test by GPS L1 RTK surveying showed $N=0.002m{\pm}0.001m$, $E=0.004m{\pm}0.001m$ in horizontal plane, and $h=-0.116m{\pm}0.003m$ in vertical, these results are very closed to the coordinates with the geodetic receiver. Especially, in case of the kinematic test with obstacles located on both sides of road, the computed track with ambiguity fixing showed very similar trajectory considerably from VRS network RTK mode. And also, evaluate and verify the performance of the TCP/IP_RTK mode developed based on TCP/IP protocol.

  • It is necessary to use satellite radio navigation system as well as satellite radio navigation augmentation system such as differential Global Positioning System to achieve the positioning accuracy and reliability requested by International Maritime Organization in port and coastal area. Especially, position accuracy of DGPS user is effected by accuracy of pseudorange correction broadcasted from DGPS reference station. This paper shows pseudorange correction calculation algorithm adopting a non-common error estimation filter in order to improve accuracy of pseudorange correction. Finally, this paper verifies that the pseudorange correction calculated by adopting a non-common error estimation filter satisfies performance specifications of RTCM.

  • At present, available positioning satellites are not only the GPS, but also GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, BeiDou. However, the differential GPS, the augmentation service for increase the positioning accuracy, is follow the RTCM version 2.3 standard. So, it can service the correction information about only GPS. For solve this problem, RTCM is making the new version of RTCM message standard that can service the correction information for all of available GNSS. In South Korea, the software DGNSS RSIM system was installed at almost the whole DGNSS reference station. In this reason, that can cope with the new RTCM version 2.4 quickly. However, the DGNSS Reference Station based RSIM 1.3 can not make the GNSS's PRC simultaneously and can not support RTCM version 2.4. Thus, in this paper, the version of RTCM 2.4 is analyzed and the RTCM version 2.4 message generating module's architecture for software DGNSS reference station is designed.

  • The State Space Representation (SSR) method provides individual corrections for each Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) error components. This method can lead to less bandwidth for transmission and allows selective use of each correction. Precise Point Positioning (PPP) - Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is one of the carrier-based precise positioning techniques using SSR correction. This technique enables high-precision positioning with a fast convergence time by providing atmospheric correction as well as satellite orbit and clock correction. Currently, the positioning service that supports PPP-RTK technology is the Quazi-Zenith Satellite System Centimeter Level Augmentation System (QZSS CLAS) in Japan. A system that provides correction for each GNSS error component, such as QZSS CLAS, requires monitoring of each error component to provide reliable correction and integrity information to the user. In this study, we conducted an analysis of the performance of residual error bounding for each error component. To assess this performance, we utilized the correction and quality indicators provided by QZSS CLAS. Performance analyses included the range domain, dispersive part, non-dispersive part, and satellite orbit/clock part. The residual root mean square (RMS) of CLAS correction for the range domain approximated 0.0369 m, and the residual RMS for both dispersive and non-dispersive components is around 0.0363 m. It has also been confirmed that the residual errors are properly bounded by the integrity parameters. However, the satellite orbit and clock part have a larger residual of about 0.6508 m, and it was confirmed that this residual was not bounded by the integrity parameters. Users who rely solely on satellite orbit and clock correction, particularly maritime users, thus should exercise caution when utilizing QZSS CLAS.

  • In this paper, we verified accuracy of the satellite based augmentation system (SBAS) tropospheric delay correction model for the Korean region. We employed the precise data of the tropospheric zenith path delay (ZPD) which is provided by the international GNSS service (IGS). In addition, we compared the verification results with that of the Saastamoinen model and the Hopfield model. Consequently, the bias residual error of the SBAS tropospheric delay correction model is about 50 mm, whereas the Saastamoinen model and the Hopfield model are more accurate. This residual error by the tropospheric delay model can affect the SBAS user position accuracy, but there is no problem in SBAS accuracy requirement. If we modified the meteorological parameters for SBAS tropospheric model to appropriate in Korean weather environment, we can provide better SBAS service to the Korean user.

  • This paper focuses on the generation algorithm of BeiDou pseudorange correction (PRC) and simulation based performance verification for design of Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) reference station and integrity monitor (RSIM) in order to prepare for recapitalization of DGNSS. First of all, it discusses the International standard on DGNSS RSIM, based on the interface control document (ICD) for BeiDou, estimates the satellite position using satellite clock offset and user receiver clock offset, and the system time offset between Global Positioning System (GPS) and BeiDou. Using the performance verification platform interfaced with GNSS (GPS/BeiDou) simulator, it calculates the BeiDou pseudorange corrections , compares the results of position accuracy with GPS/DGPS. As the test results, this paper verified to meet the performance of position accuracy for DGNSS RSIM operation required on Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) standard.

  • Voices demanding a revision of the aviation law on the operating drones are continuously rising high with the increase of their applicability in various industry fields. According to the current regulations, drones are permitted to fly under very strict conditions, which include limited places and the line-of-sight visibility from pilots. Because of the strict regulations, it is almost impossible for drones to be used in many industries such as parcel delivery services. To improve the business value of drones, we have to improve the accuracy of drones' positions and provide the proper protection levels in order to detect and avoid any risks including the collisions with the other drones. SBAS(Satellite Based Augmentation System) can support the aviation requirements with the accuracy and integrity so as to reduce the position errors and to calculate the protection levels of drones. In this paper, we assign the flight heights of drones according to the decision heights as per LAAS(Local Area Augmentation System) landing categories and conduct a simulation to predict the SBAS available time of the day.
