The first Korean satellite laser ranging (SLR) system, Daedeok SLR station (DAEK station) was developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) in 2012, whose main objectives are space geodesy researches. In consequence, Korea became the $25^{th}$ country that operates SLR system supplementing the international laser tracking network. The DAEK station is designed to be capable of 2 kHz laser ranging with precision of a few mm both in daytime and nighttime observation of satellites with laser retro-reflector array (LRA) up to the altitude of 25,000 km. In this study, characteristics and specifications of DAEK station are investigated and its data quality is evaluated and compared with International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS) stations in terms of single-shot ranging precision. The analysis results demonstrated that the DAEK station shows good ranging performance to a few mm precision. Currently, the DAEK station is under normal operations at KASI headquarters, however, it will be moved to Sejong city in 2014 to function as a fundamental station for space geodesy researches in combination with other space geodesy systems (GNSS, VLBI, DORIS, etc.).

This paper describes the development of RF front.end equipment of a wide band high precision satellite navigation receiver to be able to receive the currently available GPS navigation signal and the GALILEO navigation signal to be developed in Europe in the near future. The wide band satellite navigation receiver with high precision performance is composed of L - band antenna, RF/IF converters for multi - band navigation signals, and high performance baseband processor. The L - band satellite navigation antenna is able to be received the signals in the range from 1.1 GHz to 1.6 GHz and from the navigation satellite positioned near the horizon. The navigation signal of GALILEO navigation satellite consists of L1, E5, and E6 band with signal bandwidth more than 20 MHz which is wider than GPS signal. Due to the wide band navigation signal, the IF frequency and signal processing speed should be increased. The RF/IF converter has been designed with the single stage downconversion structure, and the IF frequency of 140 MHz has been derived from considering the maximum signal bandwidth and the sampling frequency of 112 MHz to be used in ADC circuit. The final output of RF/IF converter is a digital IF signal which is generated from signal processing of the AD converter from the IF signal. The developed RF front - end has the C/N0 performance over 40dB - Hz for the - 130dBm input signal power and includes the automatic gain control circuits to provide the dynamic range over 40dB.

The mobile mapping system first introduced at Ohio State University in 1991 is being developed in various forms as sensor technology develops. The mobile mapping system can acquire geospatial information around amoving object quickly using the information gathered using the position and attitude information of the moving object and the data from various sensors. The mobile mapping system can rapidly acquire large amounts of Geospatial information and MMS provides maximum productivity in the same measurement methods as existing GNSS and total stations. Currently, a variety of systems are being launched, mainly by foreign companies, and they are applied to the construction of geospatial information. On the other hand, the application of domestic technology development or production is insufficient. This paper provides basic data for the introduction of a mobile mapping system to geospatial information related business by conducting the status survey and feature analysis of a commercialized system focusing on the ground-based mobile mapping system. The research identified the current status and characteristics of high-priced, low-priced, indoor, and handheld mobile mapping systems based on vehicles and suggest that the recent system development trends are moving toward lowering the unit prices. The mobile mapping system is currently being developed as a platform for the application of geospatial information construction and the launch of low-cost models. The development of data processing technologies, such as automatic matching and the launch of low-cost models, are forming a basis for the application of mobile mapping systems in the field of geospatial information construction.
In high precision positioning systems based on GNSS, ambiguity resolution is an important procedure. Correct ambiguity leads to positioning results which have high precision between millimeters and centimeters. However, when the ambiguity is determined incorrectly, ensuring accuracy and precision of the positioning result is impossible. An ambiguity validation test is required to obtain correct ambiguity when ambiguity resolution is performed based on the ILS (Integer Least Squares), which shows the best performance in point of theory and experiment when compared with other methods such as IR (Integer Rounding) and IB (Integer Bootstrapping). Comparison between the candidates of the validation test is needed to judge ambiguity correctly, because ILS searches for candidates of integer ambiguity, unlike other methods which calculate only one integer ambiguity. We analyzed the experimental performance of ambiguity validation tests. R-ratio, F-ratio and W-ratio were adopted for analysis. The performance of validation tests was evaluated by classifying normal operation, detection, missed detection and false alarm. As a result, strengths and weaknesses of validation tests was showed to experimental. we concluded that validation tests must be selected according to environment.

Hardware dedicated off-the-shelf maritime differential GPS RSIM lacks the open architecture to meet all the minimum maritime user requirements and to include future GNSS improvements after recapitalization. This paper carries out a study to replace existing hardware dedicated differential GPS RSIM with software differential GPS RSIM in order to make up the weak point of hardware dedicated off-the-shelf maritime differential GPS RSIM. In this paper, the architecture of software RSIM is proposed for maritime DGPS recapitalization. And the feasibility analysis of the proposed software differential GPS RSIM is performed as the first phase to realize the proposed architecture. For the feasibility analysis, the prototype RF module and DSP module are implemented with properties as wide RF bandwidth, high sampling frequency, and high speed transmission interface. This paper shows that the proposed architecture has the possibility of real time operation of software RSIM functionality onto the PC-based platform through the analysis of computation time. Finally, this paper verifies that the L1/L2 dual frequency software differential RSIM designed according to the proposed method satisfies the performance specifications set out in RTCM paper 221-2006-SC104-STD.
The effect of multipath is especially serious in urban area and sea surface where buildings and water reflect GPS signal. Multipath brings about the performance degradation on many GPS application because the presence of multipath causes the diminution of pseudorange measurement accuracy in turn position accuracy. In this paper, a multipath mitigation named weighted correlation method is implemented on software GPS receiver, in which the asymmetric correlation function is compensated by modifying the late correlation value. Asymmetry compensation is obtained as weighted sum of two correlators which have different early-late chip spaces. This structure is adopted to lessen the computation load lower keeping up performance similar to that. The performance of implemented multipath mitigation technique is evaluated using GPS signal and multipath signal generated by GPS signal generator and software GPS receiver. The test results show that the weighted correlation method gives hefter performance than the standard correlator and the narrow correlator.

The jamming countermeasures in GNSS includes anti-jamming technique and jammer localization technique. In both techniques, direction of jamming signal is important and generally the MUSIC algorithm is used to find the direction of jamming signal. The MUSIC is super-resolution algorithm for detecting incident direction of signal. But, the search time of MUSIC algorithm is too long because all candidates of incidence angle are searched. This paper proposes the new method that has less computational burdens and therefore faster than the conventional MUSIC algorithm. The proposed method improves performance speed by reducing unnecessary calculations. In the proposed method, the cost function of conventional MUSIC algorithm is decomposed into the sum of squares and if the partial sum of cost function is larger than the minimum cost function so far, then the candidate is rejected and next candidates are searched. If the computed cost function is less than the minimum cost function so far, the minimum cost function so far is replaced with newly computed value. The performance of the proposed method was compared with the conventional MUSIC algorithm using the simulation. The accuracy of the estimaed direction of jamming signal was same as the conventional MUSIC while the search speed of the proposed method was 1.15 times faster than the conventional MUSIC.

Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is an increasingly recognized precisely the GPS/GNSS positioning technique. In order to improve the accuracy of PPP, the error sources in PPP measurements should be reduced as much as possible and the ambiguities should be correctly resolved. The correct ambiguity resolution requires a careful control of residual errors that are normally categorized into random and systematic errors. To understand effects from two categorized errors on the PPP ambiguity resolution, those two GPS datasets are simulated by generating in locations in South Korea (denoted as SUWN) and Hong Kong (PolyU). Both simulation cases are studied for each dataset; the first case is that all the satellites are affected by systematic and random errors, and the second case is that only a few satellites are affected. In the first case with random errors only, when the magnitude of random errors is increased, L1 ambiguities have a much higher chance to be incorrectly fixed. However, the size of ambiguity error is not exactly proportional to the magnitude of random error. Satellite geometry has more impacts on the L1 ambiguity resolution than the magnitude of random errors. In the first case when all the satellites have both random and systematic errors, the accuracy of fixed ambiguities is considerably affected by the systematic error. A pseudorange systematic error of 5 cm is the much more detrimental to ambiguity resolutions than carrier phase systematic error of 2 mm. In the $2^{nd}$ case when only a portion of satellites have systematic and random errors, the L1 ambiguity resolution in PPP can be still corrected. The number of allowable satellites varies from stations to stations, depending on the geometry of satellites. Through extensive simulation tests under different schemes, this paper sheds light on how the PPP ambiguity resolution (more precisely L1 ambiguity resolution) is affected by the characteristics of the residual errors in PPP observations. The numerical examples recall the PPP data analysts that how accurate the error correction models must achieve in order to get all the ambiguities resolved correctly.

Open pit mines for limestone mining require rapid development of technologies and efforts to prevent safety accidents due to rapid deterioration of the slope due to deforestation and rapid changes in the topography. Accurate three-dimensional spatial information on the terrain should be the basis for reducing environmental degradation and safe development of open pit mines. Therefore, this study constructed spatial information about open pit mine using UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and analyzed its utility. images and 3D laser scan data were acquired using UAV, and digital surface model, digital elevation model and ortho image were generated through data processing. DSM(Digital Surface Model) and ortho image were constructed using image obtained from UAV. Trees were removed using 3D laser scan data and numerical elevation models were produced. As a result of the accuracy analysis compared with the check points, the accuracy of the digital surface model and the digital elevation model was about 11cm and 8cm, respectively. The use of three-dimensional geospatial information in the mineral resource development field will greatly contribute to effective mine management and prevention of safety accidents.

SBAS(Satellite Based Augmentation System) broadcasts the correction message based on satellite communication to improve the positioning accuracy of GNSS user. For this reason, SBAS is actively being utilized on navigation part. To apply SBAS to navigation part, it should satisfy not only accuracy but also integrity, continuity, availability, coverage requirements and so on. Since SBAS reference station is the base infrastructure of SBAS, it is the main factor to determine the environment, position, and geometry of reference stations to achieve SBAS service performance. Therefore, a site environmental analysis should be performed prior to the selection of SBAS reference station. In this paper, it performs the environmental analysis of NDGPS(Nationwide Differential GPS) reference station sites on the premise that SBAS reference station will be co-operated in the same site of NDGPS operated by MOF(Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries). The environmental analysis is conducted as carrying out the visibility analysis of GPS satellite and interference analysis. This paper also presents the brief procedures and requirements for site survey of SBAS reference station.
