  • Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) is the core technology of communication, navigation and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM), automatically broadcasts its own position information using GNSS and has an advantage of lower geological constraints and faster update speed compared with legacy radar systems. EUROCONTROL defined all purpose structured eurocontrol surveillance information exchange (ASTERIX) CAT.021. ASTERIX CAT.021 is modified several times, but it has compatibility issues with previous version of it. In this paper, we have designed an efficient message processing module regardless of the version of ASTERIX CAT.021. This implemented module generates patterns to collect messages received from the network, after that, received messages are processed in the routine that is defined in accordance with the patterns.

  • Recently a system is being required to replace ILS due to increasing air traffic. In this paper, Curved approach is applied to an airport where ILS approach cannot be applied due to its geographical condition and restricted aerospace condition, and verified by flight test. After analysing conditions of Tae-an airfield of Hanseo University with virtual ILS approach, airfield applicability was evaluated by Curved approach using by GPS. Normally simulation is performed after establishing approach procedure using electric map, but recently verification is being performed by flight test without simulation because accuracy and reliability are increased. In this paper, established procedure is verified modified by flight test with Pilot Test and Auto Pilot test and controllability and passenger's stability were also checked.

  • In this paper, scripts for estimating the reference orbits of navigation satellites were developed and their performance was analyzed as a preliminary study for the development of the Korean GPS precise orbit determination technology. The JPL Flinn AC's data processing strategy was applied and Linux-based scripts were developed using GIPSY-OASIS. For the analysis of the accuracy of the estimated reference orbit, the precise orbit provided by the international GNSS data center was used as the truth. As a result, estimated satellite coordinates showed almost exactly same patterns and trends with the reference precise orbits, and their differences are in the range of ±2 cm. The average error between the two orbits was less than 1 cm in the 3D direction, while the standard deviation was also at 1 cm. From these, we found that the developed scripts have excellent performance in precise orbit determination.

  • This paper deals with Reed-Solomon Coding for EUROFIX system EUROFIX is an integrated navigation and communication system, which combines Differential GNSS and Loran-C EUROFIX transmits DGNSS(Differential Global Navigation Satellite Systems) (data by pulse position modulation of Loran-C pulses. Loran-C system is regarded as a satellite backup system in recent. And now, it is important to detect and correct much errors in communication systems. Error corrections or correction algorithm is actively studied nowadays because of this. In this paper, we study and design encoder and decoder of Reed Solomon Code using Finite Galois Field Fourier Transformation for error corrections in EUROFIX data transmission. Through extensive simulation, the designed Reed Solomon code is shown to be effective for error correction in EUROFIX data transmission.

  • This research was focused on the analysis of navigation parameters from the received L1, C/A signal of the recent GPS, which has advanced with the SA policy change and the GPS modernization policy by the United States. It was done as a first step study for a comprehensive analysis on the multiple satellite navigation systems which will be adding or separating GPS signal. In particular, the statistical analysis on the GDOP change and positional accuracy based on the geocentric and spherical coordinate systems were investigated with carrier- to-noise ratio and the satellite geometry, The obtained GDOP values of HDOP, PDOP, VDOP are 0.5, 1.2, and 1.1, respectively in deviation. In addition, the positioning accuracies with these GDOP values were analyzed in the ellipsoidal and ECEF coordinates.

  • The effects of reflected wave of the sea on pseudolite ranging accuracy are analysed in this paper, when a pseudolite navigation system is used for wide area outdoor applications such as aircraft and vessels positioning. Methods for minimizing the influence of sea surface reflection wave were proposed. The methods include the appropriate correlator in pseudolite navigation system through the correlation performance comparison analysis in receiver design, the use of the technology of multiple antennas, and locating the transmitting station antenna on an appropriate position. From the results of experiments, the method of locating the antenna position shows the most reliable performance against the effect of surface reflection wave. The analysis results of the ranging accuracy improvement are addressed, when the multipath caused by sea surface reflection exists.

  • To construct the accurate radio satellite navigation system, the efficient communication each satellite with the ground station is very important. Throughout the communication, the orbit of each satellite can be corrected, and those information will be used to analyze the satellite satus by the operator. Since there are limited resources of ground station, the schedule of antenna's azimuth and elevation angle should be optimized. On the other hand, the satellite in the medium earth orbit does not pass the same point of the earth surface due to the rotation of the earth. Therefore, the antenna pass schedule must be updated at the proper moment. In this study, Q learning approach which is a form of model-free reinforcement learning and genetic algorithm are considered to find the optimal antenna schedule. To verify the optimality of the solution, numerical simulations are conducted.

  • This paper proposes a novel code tracking scheme to track the fine code synchronization for BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals. The correlation function of BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals has been several peaks. In this paper, we observe that the correlation function in the advanced offset region remains almost unchanged, due to the multipath signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on this observation, we propose a novel code tracking scheme which is called the advanced region correlation (ARC) method for BOC(n,n) modulated spreading signals. And, we compare with the code tracking accuracy between the conventional and proposed methods in the static multipath and land mobile satellite system channels through the Monte-Carlo simulation. Then, base on the proposed scheme, we propose the generalized-ARC (ARC) scheme for BOC(pn, n) modulated spreading signals.

  • This paper explains major considerations for integrated GPS/GLONASS/BDS positioning, and then analyzes integrated GNSS positioning accuracies based on low-cost receivers in open-sky and poor reception environments. In an open-sky environment, horizontal RMSE of the integrated system positioning is about 1.2m. It shows improved result compared with single system positioning, the improvement ratio was 17-55%. In poor reception environments, we sometimes could not do positioning because the number of visible satellites gets below four. In an integrated positioning mode, the number of visible satellites was always higher than four, allowing us to find positions all the time. The horizontal RMSE of the integrated system positioning in poor reception environments is about 6.4m. Compared with single system positioning;the integrated system positioning shows better performance and the improvement ratio was 8-47% for the horizontal directions.

  • This paper is about analysis of UDRE monitoring method for Korean Satellite navigation system, which is the correction parameter of satellite measurements. New receiver clock bias and tropospheric delay error estimation method to make pseudo-range residual for UDRE monitoring is proposed. Saastamoinen model and Neill mapping function are used for estimate the tropospheric delay and EKF is used for estimgate the receiver clock bias. Through the satellite measurements and regional weather data received directly from the domestic is using for UDRE monitoring analysis, more suitable UDRE monitoring threshold can be deducted and it is expected to be utilized for fault detection technique of Korean Satellite Navigation System.
