  • The Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is under development to provide a monitoring of ocean-color around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. It is planned to be loaded on Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) of Korea. The GOCI has been designed to provide multi-spectral data to detect, monitor, quantify, and predict short term changes of coastal ocean environment for marine science research and application purpose. The target area of GOCI observation covers sea area around the Korean Peninsula. Based on the nonlinear radiometric model, the GOCI calibration method has been derived. The nonlinear radiometric model for GOCI will be validated through ground test. The GOCI radiometric calibration is based on on-board calibration devices; solar diffuser, DAMD (Diffuser Aging Monitoring Device). In this paper, the GOCI radiometric error propagation is analyzed. The radiometric model error due to the dark current nonlinearity is analyzed as a systematic error. Also the offset correction error due to gain/offset instability is considered. The radiometric accuracy depends mainly on the ground characterization accuracies of solar diffuser and DAMD.

  • In this paper, the extraction and optimization of SPICE parameters on SONOSFET for NVSM circuit design were discussed. SONOSFET devices with different channel widths and lengths were fabricated using conventional 1.2 um n-well CMOS process. And, electric properties for dc parameters and capacitance parameters were measured on wafer. SPICE parameters for the SONOSFET were extracted from the UC Berkeley level 3 model for the MOSFET. And, local optimization of Ids-Vgs curves has carried out in the bias region of subthreshold, linear, saturation respectively. Finally, the extracted SPICE parameters were optimized globally by comparing drain current (Ids), output conductance(gds), transconductance(gm) curves with theoretical curves in whole region of bias conditions. It is shown that the conventional model for the MOSFET can be applied to the SONOSFET modeling except sidewalk effect.

  • The majority of the commonly used protraction headgears for the protraction of small and/or retropositioned maxilla not allow a change in the point of force application or direction of the force delivery to attain predictable results because of the position of the upper and lower lips to avoid discomfort to the patient. The purpose of this study was to investigate the initial reaction of maxillofacial complex according to the change of force variables such as direction and point of force application with designing an antenna type-modified protraction head gear. A macerated human skull with well aligned upper teeth was used to experimental model and the investigation was done by double exposure holographic interferometry. Fringe patterns of each protraction conditions were compared and analized. The results were as follows. (Frontal view) 1. The Counterclockwise rotation of the maxilla was showed by parallel protraction to occlusal plane and the fringe was decreased in number as higher point of force application. 2. Generally, the number of fringe was increased in 500gm of protraction force than in 300gm. 3. When apply the protraction force to the maxilla with rapid palatal expansion, the direction of fringe patterns was differed from the protraction without expansion. 4. In most of cases, the counterclockwise rotation was decreased in case of the direction of the force is $20^{\circ}$ downward to occlusal plane compared to the parallel direction. 5. At the point of force application is 15mm above and the direction of force is 20 downward to occlusal plane , the translation of the maxillary complex was showed. (Lateral view) 6. The direction of fringe patterns of the facial bones were differed each other by the sutures, and showed almost parallel when apply the 300gm and 500gm of protraction force. 7. In case of rapid palatal expansion with protraction of the maxilla, the fringe patterns between the maxillary area and the area from the posterior of the maxillary first molar to the pterygomaxillary fissure were differed. In case without rapid palatal expansion, the changes of direction and point of the force application did not affect to the direction and the number of the fringe patterns.

  • Due to the increasing demand of high rank coal, the use of low rank coal, which has economically advantage, is rising in various industries using carbonaceous solid fuels. In addition, the severe disaster of global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions is becoming more serious. The Republic of Korea set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by supporting the use of biomass from the Paris International Climate Change Conference and the 8th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand. In line with these worldwide trends, this paper focuses on investigating the combustibility of high rank coal Carboone, low rank coal Adaro from Indonesia, Baganuur from Mongolia and, In biomass, wood pellet and herbaceous type Kenaf were simulated as kinetic reactivity model. The accuracy of the pore development model were compared with experimental result and analyzed using carbon conversion and tau with grain model, random pore model, and flexibility-enhanced random pore model. In row lank coal and biomass, FERPM is well-matched kinetic model than GM and RPM to using numerical simulations.

  • Objective : Repeated administration of mannitol in the setting of large hemispheric infarction is a controversial and poorly defined therapeutic intervention. This study was performed to examine the effects of multiple-dose mannitol on a brain edema after large hemispheric infarction. Methods : A middle cerebral artery was occluded with the rat suture model for 6 hours and reperfused in 22 rats. The rats were randomly assigned to either control (n=10) or the mannitol-treated group (n=12) in which intravenous mannitol infusions (0.8 g/kg) were performed six times every four hours. After staining a brain slice with 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride, the weight of hemispheres, infarcted (IH) and contralateral (CH), and the IH/CH weight ratio were examined, and then hemispheric accumulation of mannitol was photometrically evaluated based on formation of NADH catalyzed by mannitol dehydrogenase. Results : Mannitol administration produced changes in body weight of $-7.6{\pm}1.1%$, increased plasma osmolality to $312{\pm}8\;mOsm/L$. It remarkably increased weight of IH ($0.77{\pm}0.06\;gm$ versus $0.68{\pm}0.03\;gm$ : p<0.01) and the IH/CH weight ratio ($1.23{\pm}0.07$ versus $1.12{\pm}0.05$ : p<0.01). The photometric absorption at 340 nm of the cerebral tissue in the mannitol-treated group was increased to $0.375{\pm}0.071$ and $0.239{\pm}0.051$ in the IH and CH, respectively from $0.167{\pm}0.082$ and $0.162{\pm}0.091$ in the IH and CH of the control group (p<0.01). Conclusion : Multiple-dose mannitol is likely to aggravate cerebral edema due to parenchymal accumulation of mannitol in the infarcted brain tissue.

  • Insect-resistant transgenic (Bt-9) rice was generated by inserting mCry1Ac1, a modified gene from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis, into the genome of a conventional variety of rice (Ilmi). With regard to potential problems such as safety, an evaluation of non-target organisms is necessary as an essential element of an environmental risk assessment of genetically modified (GM) crops. We studied the effects of the Bt-9 rice on the survival of cantor Daphnia magna, a commonly used model organism in ecotoxicological studies. D. magna fed on the Bt-transgenic rice (Bt-9) and its near non-GM counterparts (Ilmi) grown in the same environment (a 100% ground rice suspension). The Bt-9 rice was confirmed to have the inserted T-DNA and protein expression evident by the PCR and ELISA analyses. The feeding study showed a similar cumulative immobility and abnormal response of the Daphnia magna between the Bt-9 rice and Ilmi. Additionally, the 48 h-EC50 values of the Bt-9 and Ilmi rice were 4,400 mg/L (95% confidence limits: 3861.01 - 5015.01 mg/L) and 5,564 mg/L (95% confidence limits: 4780.03 - 6476.93 mg/L), respectively. The rice NOEC (No observed effect concentration) value for D. magna was suggested to be 1,620 mg/L. We conclude that the tested Bt-9 and Ilmi have a similar cumulative immobility for D. magna, a widely used model organism, and the growth of Bt-9 did not affect non-target insects.

We observe effects of GKHA on imaging of cartilage degeneration using micro CT-arthrography in paw hind. And we calculate effects of GKHA that reduced BV ratio, BS/BV ratio using 3D Micro-CT. Lastly we observe effects of GKHA histopathologic examination analysis. Results : 1. The toxicity on liver and kidney was disregardable and the cytotoxicity against RAW 264.7 cells was also disregardable. 1. Total phenol contents and total flavonoid contents in GK extract were in high level. 2. DPPH free radical scavenging activity and ABTS cation radical scavenging activity were increased according to concentration of GK extract 3. ROS production was significantly decreased in GK extract (at 10, $100{\mu}g/ml$). 4. NO, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, MCP-1 production were significantly decreased in GK extract(at 10, $100{\mu}g/ml$). IL-17, GM-CSF production were significantly decreased in GK extract(at 1, 10, $100{\mu}g/ml$). IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-21 production were also decreased but there was no statistical significance. 5. 25x observation after H&E and M-T staining, infiltration of immune cells and subsidence of the cartilage and damage to the synovial cells were decreased. Conclusions : This study showed that GKHA extract had anti-oxidant capacity, anti-inflammatory efficacy. GKHA extract also had inhibiting effect on the process of rheumatoid arthritis and can protect joint and cartilage. So we expect that GKHA extract can be a meaningful treatment to rheumatoid arthritis patients.

  • In this paper, design of an error model is presented in which the bias characteristic of the MEMS IMU is taken into consideration for performance enhancement of the MEMS IMU-based GPS/INS integrated navigation system. The drift bias of the MEMS IMU is modeled as a 1st-order Gauss-Markov (GM) process, and the autocorrelation function is obtained from the collected IMU data, and the correlation time is estimated from this. Prior to obtaining the autocorrelation function, the noise of IMU data is eliminated based on wavelet. As a result of simulation, it is represented that the parameters of error model can be estimated correctly only when a proper denoising is performed according to dynamic behavior of drift bias, and that the integrated navigation system based on error model, in which the drift bias is considered, provides more correct navigation performance compared to the integrated navigation system based on error model in which the drift bias is not considered.
