This paper examines the concepts of globalization and localization, major trends of the changes in the organization of economic space in the Pacific rim, and the major processes of the changes. Intra-regional trade and foreign direct investments have increased considerably in the Pacific region with the progress of globalization during the last decade. Due to the Progress of globalization of economy in the Pacific rim, some growth triangles have extended their agglomeration area beyond the national boundaries and several new industrial districts have developed. The reorganization of the economic space in the Pacific rim has been resulted from industrial restructuring of NIEs, spatial division of labor along the commodity chains, and the formation of industrial networks within the region. The ‘cooperative network strategy’has been suggested to minimize the negative effects of glocalization and for the sustainable development in the Pacific rim.

  • This paper tries to explore the impact of economic globalization on social capital accumulation. To investigate direct effect, we build a model and derive a proposition which can explain the relative decline in social capital brought about by market expansion. Besides direct effect, we also explore channel effect through democracy, government size, education attainment, and inequality. We estimate direct and channel effect of globalization using cross section of 65 countries data time period 1980-1999 using three-stage least squares(3SLS). Results are in line with predictions and clearly support that globalization significantly and negatively affects social capital accumulation. Channel effect also shows that globalization has a negative effect through aggravating income inequality while it has a positive effect through higher education attainment, higher level of democracy and larger government spending. Such a net negative channel effect reinforces our prediction. As a robustness check we estimate other sets of data and the result strongly supports our theory.

Specifically, we tried to examine how the meaning and role of neoliberal state, which characterizes globalization process, is justified and reinforced by media. The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the dominant globalization process inherent in the discourse of national competitiveness by analyzing how the national competitiveness index report released by the World Economic Forum is reported by the media every year. In addition, we sought to understand the significance and role of the state in the globalization process by examining what areas are emphasized and excluded from the national competitiveness index composed of economic infrastructure, economic efficiency, and enterprise innovation activities.

  • This study is an empirical analysis of the major factors influencing the globalization level of Chinese public enterprises. Based on previous research, we conducted a regression analysis using the transnational index as a dependent variable and export tax refund, exchange rate, human resources, innovation ability, asset management ability, loan ability, corporate development stage, global deployment ability, etc. as independent variables. As a result of the empirical analysis of this study, it was found that export refund (E_tax) and exchange rate (E_rate) have a statistically significant effect on the external influencing factors of globalization. Human resource capabilities (Edu, O_hunan), innovation capability (R&D), and financing capability (Finance) were found to be important internal influencing factors for the globalization of public enterprises. The role of the government in establishing the strategy of SOEs should be maintained at the level of guidance and it should provide guidance so that the autonomy of SOEs is not restricted as the role of the government is separated from the government's compulsory management and supervisory functions, leading to excessively compulsory management.

  • 2020 was a year in which the world spent in disorder due to the pandemic of Coronavirus infection-19(COVID-19). The pandemic was at the beginning of a turning point in history. For examples, the Black Death(Pest) that destroyed the feudal system of medieval Europe in the 14th century, smallpox that led to the destruction of the Inca Empire by Spain in the 17th century, and the Spanish flu that ended World War I early. The great transformation that will come after COVID-19 is presented from various fields and perspectives, but the understanding and direction of the transformation is ambiguous. This study attempts to derive and to analyze core terms based on a network of the future of globalization after COVID-19. Four Networks related to globalization, anti-globalization, and globalization and digitalization after COVID-19 were established respectively. A network integrating four networks was also constructed. The core terms were extracted from the hub nodes, the stress centrality, and the simplified network to which the K-core algorithm was applied. After COVID-19, the changes in globalization were analyzed from the extracted core terms. This study is thought to be meaningful to propose a method of deriving and analyzing core terms based on a network in understanding social changes after COVID-19.

  • We can see various cultural elements appeared in modern fashion, of which Korean traditional cultural elements are being reinterpreted in many different ways. This study is to analyse on the basis of togetherness concept Korean traditional elements, which have been considered difficult to interpret by postmodernism and find the ways how to carry on our traditional culture practically in order to prepare the foundation for globalization of our tradition. Togetherness means 'with' or 'simultaneously', which also conveys the meaning of common cause and result, addition and annex, opposition and juxtaposition, or accumulation and integration. Characteristics of the togetherness appeared in Korean fashion are as follows. First of all, it shows the aspect of mixing and integration of different cultural fashion elements around the globe, which have been made possible in the course of globalization and development of information technology. The second characteristic is crossing and synchronization, which means that many different individual fashion elements in terms of time and space are being crossed over and integrated these days. Thirdly, continuation meaning 'without cease' and 'keep going' shows that togetherness is to create a whole new fashion trend by mixing postmodern revivalism and past clothing elements. Togetherness makes it possible for us to find reasons why tradition aspects are expressed so vividly in the modern clothing, gives us a standard to classify the reasons, establishes an identity and offers theoretical background for globalization of traditional clothing in the course of modernization of our tradition.
