  • Recently, due to applicability increase of vector data based digital map for geographic information and evolution of geographic measurement techniques, large volumed GIS(geographic information service) services having high resolution and large volumed data are flowing actively. This paper proposed an efficient vector map compression technique using the SEC(spatial energy compaction) based on classified bins for the vector map having 1cm detail and hugh range. We encoded polygon and polyline that are the main objects to express geographic information in the vector map. First, we classified 3 types of bins and allocated the number of bits for each bin using adjacencies among the objects. and then about each classified bin, energy compaction and or pre-defined VLC(variable length coding) were performed according to characteristics of classified bins. Finally, for same target map, while a vector simplification algorithm had about 13%, compression ratio in 1m resolution we confirmed our method having more than 80% encoding efficiencies about original vector map in the 1cm resolution. Also it has not only higher compression ratio but also faster computing speed than present SEC based compression algorithm through experimental results. Moreover, our algorithm presented much more high performances about accuracy and computing power than vector approximation algorithm on same data volume sizes.

  • Tsunami happens rarely enough to allow a false sense of security, but when they do occur, there may be just minutes or hours for people to reach a safe location. Natural disasters like tsunami are inevitable and it is almost impossible to fully recoup damages caused by the disasters. However, it is possible to minimize the potential risk by developing early warning strategies. GIS modelling with its geoprocessing and analysis capability can play a crucial role in efficient mitigation and management of disaster. This study aims at developing integrated spatial information system processing model supporting tsunami evacuation action planning using geo-information technology such as GIS. The integration process classified into four phases. And in each phase, required input data and GIS processes are decided. The main effort in minimizing casualties in tsunami disaster is to evacuate people from the hazard area before tsunami strikes by means of either horizontal or vertical evacuation. The study provides essential spatial information for local decision making related with people's evacuation in tsunami-prone areas based on a modeling approach transferable to other coastal areas.

  • Sensors related to the geographic information are gathering strength as core technologies for various ubiquitous services like u-City project for the new town of the future to provide total information services by the high IT infrastructure. These sensors generate the very large real-time streaming data because these are set up and controlled with wide areas of the geographical distribution. On this, we propose an efficient spatial data stream processing system to support various u-GIS services based on geographic sensors.

  • The artificial intelligence of robot is the weakness of digital intelligence of a person who able to train, self-realize and to develop competences, creative, professional and behavioral skills. A new methodology proposed for managing robots inside the mines using an electronic system designed for driving robots to injured people in seas, mines or wells who can not be reached by human force. This paper also explains the concept of managing and remote-controlling the process of searching and helping the injured. The user controls the robot through an application that receives all the reports that the robot sends from the injured person. The robot's tasks are to take a sample of the blood of the injured person, examine it, and measure the percentage of oxygen underground and send it to the user who directs the robot to pump a specific percentage of oxygen to the injured person. The user can also communicate with the person The patient and determine his condition through the camera connected to the robot equipped with headphones to communicate with the injured and the user can direct the camera of the robot and take x-rays from the injured.

  • Renewable energy is not a new terminology. One of the fastest growing renewable energies is solar energy. The implementation of solar energy provides several advantages including the reduction of some of the environmental risks of fossil fuel consumption. This research elaborated the importance of the adaption of solar energy by developing a spatial decision support system (SDSS), while the Residential Solar Energy Adoption (RSEA) is an instantiation artifact in the form of an SDSS. As a GIS web-based application, RSEA allows stakeholders (e.g., utility companies, policymakers, service providers homeowners, and researchers) to navigate through locations on a map interactively. The maps highlight locations with high and low solar energy adoption potential that enables decision-makers (e.g., policymakers, solar firms, utility companies, and nonprofit organizations) to make decisions. A combined qualitative and quantitative methodological approach was used to evaluate the application's usability and user experience, and results affirmed the ability of the factors of utility, usefulness, and a positive user experience of the residential solar energy adoption of spatial decision support system (RSEA-SDSS). RSEA-SDSS in improving the decision-making process for potential various stakeholders, in utility, solar installations, policy making, and non-profit renewable energy domains.

  • Recently, BIM(Building Information Modeling) has been applied to the infrastructure such as road and bridge, and information about the outside environment of buildings is needed for maintaining and managing the large urban facilities. In addition, the convergence between spatial information and Big-data has a large potentiality, in respect that considerable profits and developments in other application problems such as various simulations and urban plans, national land security, may be brought about on the basis of the interoperability of information between BIM and GIS. Therefore, this study attempted to suggest the development direction of a model integrating building for spatial information analysis and city on the subject by comparing and analyzing difference between information system and shape expression of IFC, CityGML and LandXML to efficiently link information between IFC as a standard model of BIM and CityGML as a standard model in the GIS sector and to prepare a basic fusion strategy and a method of utilization between BIM and GIS. The result of the study are as follow. Firstly, contents and structure of IFC, CityGML and LandXML are compared and analyzed. Secondly, the development direction of iBUM(Integrated Building and Urban Model) suggested, which is based on convergence technology for analysis of space information. Finally, a strategy and method of the BIM and GIS are proposed in the iBUM environment.

  • Recently, due to climate change, the slope is increasing, and the risk of steep slope disasters such as the occurrence of slope collapse in the east coast and Busan region in 2019 and the Gokseong landslide in 2020 is increasing. Particularly, most national parks are made up of mountainous areas, and the risk of disasters on steep slopes is increasing. As the ground of the national park is aging and the weathering and jointing of the bedrock are accelerating due to climate change, the slope collapse and rockfall are increasing, and the annual number of visitors is increasing, it is necessary to manage steep slopes adjacent to multi-use facilities with many users. In this study, dangerous steep slopes that affect multi-use facilities in national parks were analyzed using GIS and verified through field surveys. As a process for extracting steep slopes adjacent to multi-use facilities in national parks, the slope was made in DEM and slopes of 34 degrees or higher were extracted. The difference between the maximum and minimum heights of the extracted slopes was used to confirm that the slopes met the standard for steep slopes, and the analysis of the slope direction was used to confirm whether it had an effect on the multi-use facilities. After that, precision aerial images and field photos were analyzed to finally identify risks at 4 sites, and field surveys were conducted. As a result of the field survey, all 4 sites were found to be steep slopes, 3 were graded D and 1 was graded C, so it was confirmed that management was required as a risk of collapse. All steep slopes extracted through GIS were found to be dangerous, so it is judged that the extraction of steep slopes through GIS would be appropriate.

  • Network administrator recognizes the abnormal phenomenon in the managed network by using the alert messages generated in the security devices including the intrusion detection system, intrusion prevention system, firewall, and etc. And then the series of task, which searches for the traffic related to the alert message and analyzes the traffic data, are required to determine where the abnormal phenomenon is the real network security threat or not. There are many alert messages to have to inspect in order to determine the network security situation. Also the much times are needed so that the network administrator can analyze the security condition using existing methods. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed an efficient method for analyzing network security situation using visualization. The proposed method monitors anomalies occurred in the entire IP address's space and displays the detail information of a security event. In addition, it represents the physical locations of the attackers or victims by linking GIS information and IP address. Therefore, it is helpful for network administrator to rapidly analyze the security status of managed network.
